Keynote Speaker

Dr. Carolina Castillo Crimm

Dr. Carolina Castillo Crimm was born
and raised in Mexico City. She holds
degrees from the University of Miami,
Texas Tech and a Ph.D. in Latin American
History from the University of Texas at
Austin.

Among her many books and articles is the
award-winning De León: A Tejano Family
History. After 40 years of teaching, she
has recently retired and been honored as
a Professor Emeritus from Sam Houston
State University. She lives in Huntsville,
Texas with her husband Jack, and has
just started a new company, Historic
Tours of Texas.

songwriter, historian and
musician, plays 6 and 12 string
acoustical guitars and has
received acclaim for his Fathers
of Texas CD series. It is a
collection of songs and narration
about Texas’ storied history,
which is considered a landmark
in Texas music. This album was
adopted by the State of Texas
approved Texas history curriculum
through Harcourt Publishing. His
CD titled “Davy Crockett’s Fiddle
Plays On” was recorded live in
the Alamo with the Davy Crockett Fiddle from the Witte Museum.
This is an honor and privilege that only K.R. Wood has been given.
K.R. Wood a.k.a. Camp Cookie, has been traveling the great state of
Texas bringing its history to life through songs and tales for over
30 years.
