Executives, Staff, and Students of Thammasat University in

Presence of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn
(Online).

The Royal Scholarship under Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Education Project to the
Kingdom of Cambodia was initiated by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to enhance the
quality of the educational system for the people of the Kingdom of Cambodia. On Thursday, September 16th,
2021, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn allowed executives, staff, and Cambodian students
of the Royal Scholarships of the academic years 2018 to 2021 of Thammasat University, led by Associate
Professor Gasinee Witoonchart (Rector of Thammasat University) to conduct an audience with Her Royal
Highness (online) at the Thammasat University Rangsit Campus. Currently, there are 19 royal scholarship
students studying in the Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology (16 bachelor’s and 1 master’s degree
students), the School of Global Studies (1 bachelor’s degree student), and the Faculty of Economics (1 bachelor’s
degree student).

SIIT Online Roadshow & Workshop

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology (SIIT), Thammasat University, conducted
activities in an online format for students from various schools.
The Online Roadshow is an educational guidance activity conducted by SIIT students that will introduce SIIT to high school
students and help them to know more about SIIT academic programs and application procedures.
The Online Workshop features games for high school students to explore the various academic programs and find one
that best suits their interests. The workshop activities cover the 9 academic programs of SIIT:
1. Chemical Engineering Process Simulator (Chemical Engineering)
2. Your Bridge: Design it! (Civil Engineering)
3. Tinkercad Circuit (Electrical Engineering)
4. Optimization: Finding the best solution (Industrial Engineering and Logistics System)
5. Truss ME: Learn to build truss structures (Mechanical Engineering)
6. Python and Artificial Intelligence (Computer Engineering and Digital Engineering)
7. Business Game (Engineering Management and Management Technology)
8. Basic Data Analytics (School of Information, Computer, and Communication Technology)

International Project-Based Learning

(iPBL) Program

From July 1st to September 4th, 2021, SIIT and the The students created and simulated a computer program to

Sessions

On October 27, and November 3, 2021, SIIT
International Affairs and Corporate Relations
Division organized an “Alumni Sharing
Session”. The session was conducted online
and divided into 2 main topics: Session for
Summer Training & Internship in Thailand,
and Session for Student Exchange Programs.
The activities included experience sharing
from SIIT Alumnus, and Q&A sessions. The
sessions drew the attention of SIIT students
and over 60 SIIT students participated in both
of these sessions.

Control Engineering

Workshop and IoT X NETPIE

On March 26th, 2021, Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology
(SIIT), Thammasat University, together with the Thammasat Secondary
School jointly organized a workshop for junior and senior high school
students via ZOOM on various topics, namely Control Engineering
Workshop and IoT. using NETPIE, interview techniques, and portfolio
techniques to share knowledge and experience.

Online Coding Workshop

The Girl in Control

On January 8th, 2021, Sirindhorn International Institute
of Technology (SIIT), Thammasat University, together
with IEEE Control System Society, Thailand Chapter, and
Srinakharinwirot University Prasarnmit Demonstration
School jointly hosted an online workshop on "The Girl in
Control" to provide information about the fundamentals
of control engineering. The target group was female
high school students who can study the basic principles
of control engineering through online coding learning
activities via Scratch.

This online workshop was an international collaboration among
members of the IEEE Control System Society worldwide to
foster imagination and inspire young women learning about
science, technology, and engineering, so that they may apply
their knowledge to problems in daily life as well as encourage
further study in the field of engineering.

NEWS YEARS
Control Engineering Workshop SIIT organized the “Kids in Control Activity for Academic Year
2021” with Saint Gabriel's College and Srinakharinwirot
Kids in Control University Prasarnmit Demonstration School (Secondary) via
Zoom. In the activity, participants learned about control
systems and control engineering through the Scratch
program.

SIIT Virtual

International Night

The International Affairs and Corporate

Relations Division organized the “SIIT Virtual
International Night” with the theme “Loy
Krathong Festival”, held on November 10th,
2021, via Zoom. Its aim was to promote
cultural exchange among international and
Thai students. Krathongs were created
online by international and Thai students
working together. In addition, students
enjoyed competing in quiz games to win
prizes.
The highlight of the event was the “One
Minute, Speak Thai” video contest. SIIT
international students submitted videos of
themselves speaking in Thai on the topic
“SIIT, your best choice of international
education”. Awards were given to the
following students: Mr. Phorn Thitipo from
Cambodia (1st prize) and Mr. Riza Eka
Saputra from Indonesia (2nd prize).

The 3rd AI for Business and Industry Training Program

in collaboration with AI&5D Consortium Summer School

The School of Information, Computer and Communication Technology (ICT)
jointly organized the “3rd AI for Business and Industry Training Program in
collaboration with AI&5D consortium summer school”, from November 15th
to 20th, 2021.

This program, under the AMEICC endowed course at universities in ASEAN
countries plan, provides an opportunity for collaboration between SIIT and
the Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable
Partnerships, Japan, and Company R&D Center - Facilitation Center, and the
Studies for Society Science and Technology Foundation, Thailand. Around
40 SIIT students from all levels participated in this program remotely from
home. In today’s society, the AI workforce is a new strategic arm for the
improvement of business and industry. Potential employees are being
sought who have the ability to conduct AI technology and are skilled in data
engineering and data science.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pakorn Opaprakasit Invited to Join the
World Class Professor (WCP) Program

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pakorn Opaprakasit, head of the
department of Common and Graduate Studies (CGS)
was invited to join the World Class Professor (WCP)
program, supported by the Ministry of Education and
Culture of Republic of Indonesia and the Indonesia
University of Education (UPI). Under this program, Dr.
Pakorn served as a mentor for a team of researchers
from UPI led by Dr. Khoerunnisa Fitri, to conduct a
collaborative research project and publish the output
on the applications of bio-based materials for
sustainable use in water treatments and purification.
Also, a series of four online seminars on “Polymers
and Composites” was organized for the Indonesian
polymer and materials science community and
general audience.

SIIT’s Participation in the 7th Working Group Meeting
of JICA Project for AUN/SEED-Net

Prof. Dr. Pruettha Nanakorn, Director of SIIT and
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kriengsak Panuwatwanich, Head
of the School of Civil Engineering and Technology,
participated in the 26th Steering Committee
Meeting and the 7th Working Group Meeting of
the JICA Technical Cooperation Project for ASEAN
University Network/Southeast Asia Engineering
Education Development Network (JICA Project for
AUN/SEED-Net). SIIT has been an active member
of AUN/SEED-Net in delivering its scholarship
programs. The meeting was well attended by
member institutes across the ASEAN region with
fruitful discussions and exchange of updated
information from the committee.

SIIT Faculty Received “Best Presentation Award”
in the 11th International Conference on Engineering,
Project, and Production Management (EPPM2021).

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kriengsak Panuwatwanich from the School of Civil Engineering and Technology received the “Best
Presentation Award” in the category of Entrepreneurship and Business Innovation and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chawalit
Jeenanunta from the School of Management Technology received the “Best Presentation Award” in the category of
Production Management at the 11th International Conference on Engineering, Project, and Production Management
(EPPM2021). The conference was hosted from September 19th to 21st, 2021, by Bialystok University of Technology
in Poland.

SIIT Students Win Super AI Engineer Award and

Opportunity to Join Super Ai Engineer Program.

Artificial Intelligence Association of Thailand (AIAT) in collaboration with the National Electronics and Computer Center,
Academic Institute of Artificial Intelligence Network, University Network, and over 60 private sector organizations presented
the "Gold Medal Award" recognizing outstanding talent in the Super Ai Engineer program to Mr. Isada Sukprapa, a Master's
degree student from the Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things (AI&IoT - TAIS Tokyo Tech) program, Sirindhorn
International Institute of Technology (SIIT), Thammasat University, and the "Silver medal Award" to Ms. Romrawin Chumpu, a
Master's degree student from the Engineering and Technology Program, SIIT, Thammasat University.
Award winners are required to pass the program assessment and join with leading private companies in Thailand. Company
evaluation of the program participants application of AI knowledge to help develop or solve obstacles within the company's
business is regarded as the main scoring.

SIIT Students Win Super AI Engineer
Award and Opportunity to Join
Super Ai Engineer Program.

Congratulations to the graduates of Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology (SIIT), Thammasat
University, who received the MEXT scholarship or Monbukagakusho from the Japanese government to
study in Japan, the three recipients are as follows:

1. Mr. Somporn Sahachaisaree, a graduate of the School of Civil Engineering and Technology

(currently a German government scholarship Deutschlandstipendium student at the Technical University
of Munich) was awarded a scholarship to study for a doctoral degree at the Department of Civil
Engineering, the University of Tokyo.

2. Mr. Matus Tanonwong, a graduate of the School of Information, Computer and Communication

Technology, received a scholarship to study Information Sciences at Tohoku University.

3. Mr. Danaiwat Sriwajana, a graduate of the School of Information, Computer and Communication

Technology, received a scholarship to study Systems and Control Engineering at the Tokyo Institute of
Technology

ICT Student awarded Academic Excellence Medal

Mr. Matus Tanonwong, a student from the school of Information, Computer and Communication

Technology, Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology (SIIT), Thammasat University, received the
Academic Excellence Medal for 2020 from the Fund for Education and Research in Engineering under
Royal Patronage Crown Prince, The Engineering Institute of Thailand Under H.M. The King’s Patronage.

SIIT Start-UP Team, Checkpoint, wins award at the
Amazon Web Service Entrepreneurship Program

Checkpoint, the start-up team from SIIT students, won an
award at the Amazon Web Service Entrepreneurship
Program. The program consists of a start-up competition
from Amazon Web Service and Kinobi Thailand that
pushes the limits of the new generation by developing
their business and technology skills with the extension of
ideas into real businesses.
Checkpoint is a Start-Up that has been running for 3
months. It is a solution for managing the accumulated
stress in a closed environment, allowing people to relax
with beautiful images, music, and nature sounds.
The Checkpoint team consists of 3rd-year students in the Department of Information Technology, Computer and
Communications, Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology (SIIT), Thammasat University, consisting of Mr. Puriphan
Pratepasen (Co-founder, CEO, CTO), Mr. Krittapas Suwannawin (Full Stack Web Developer), and Mr. Narintorn Chinworarat
(Cloud Developer).

TU Validator Team Wins
1st Runner-up Award of FACTkathon

Mr. Teeradon Pakluck, a student from the School of Information, Computer and Communication Technology,
Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology (SIIT), and other students from Thammasat University, won the 1st
runner-up award of FACTkathon: Fact-Collab to Debunk Dis-infodemic, an in-depth brainstorming contest, refuting false
information, and seeking common truth conducted via Zoom from October 8th to 10th, 2021
The “FACTkathon” project is held to encourage the new generation to engage in in-depth brainstorming for the
development of collaboration mechanisms to enhance the quality of journalism and digital citizens. This is done to deal
with fake news that threatens society.

SIIT Students Win first prize from National Media
Conteston “Polymer Products for
Sustainable Development”

Another group of Ph.D. students, Ms. Jirawan Jindakaew and Ms.
Kamonchanok Thananukul, under the supervision of Assoc. Prof.
Dr. Pakorn Opaprakasit, was the finalist of the national research
contest on “Polymer products for sustainable development”,
hosted by the same organizations. Their research work was
entitled “Upcycling of polyester wastes for use as active
functional degradable mulch films”.

On Friday, September 24th, 2021, Sirindhorn International
Institute of Technology (SIIT), Thammasat University in
collaboration with the Artificial Intelligence Association of
Thailand (AIAT), Princess Chulabhorn Science High Schools
(PCSHS), and Kamnoetvidya Science Academy (KVIS) held a
press conference to announce that SIIT presented 100
scholarships for "Building Innovative Changemaker" and
provide information on the Online Workshop "Python and
Artificial Intelligence".
