I liked that it was about the real world and that it’s not just unicorns and rainbows! Grace – Year 6 I liked it when the real plants came because then the forest looked like it did in his dream. Ethan – Year 2

Introduction Based on the two books which have an environmental theme, The Tin Forest and The Promise, we produced some fantastic writing across the school from narrative writing to discussion texts.

Reception • Reception thought about how we can look after the environment and the messages we can give to people. • This message from Toby is very clear for what we can do to help the environment!

Year 1 Year 1 wrote a description of The Tin Forest. Their descriptions really captured the atmosphere and beauty of the forest.

Year 2 Year 2 write setting descriptions of the transformed Tin Forest. They thought about the animals which would be found in the forest and how to describe the beauty of what it changed into.

Year 3 Year 3 explored the main character in The Promise. They really captured the feelings and the personality of the character.

Year 4 Year 4 wrote poetry based on The Promise. Look at the fantastic editing Jacob has done to improve his poem.

Year 5 Year 5 wrote their own versions of The Promise, thinking carefully about what could be in the bag which would change the world. Ena Rose chose to spread sunshine! Read her fantastic writing to see the effects of spreading sunshine.

Year 6 Is Banksy’s Work Art or Graffiti? Year 6 explored this topic and wrote discussion texts examining reasons for and against this statement.
