PENILAIAN PROGRAM Refleksi Pensyarah Pengiring 13 I I am deeply thankful to God for making our community service outreach from the 16th to 18th of May 2024 at SK Bilit in the Kinabatangan district a reality. Despite numerous obstacles regarding accommodation, transportation, and general expenses that almost made this opportunity seem impossible, we were able to overcome them. Fortunately, we did not let these essential but challenging issues ruin our sincere dreams of reaching out to others. A big thanks to my Head of the STEM Department, Mdm. Ainon; my Head of the Science Unit, Dr. Chiam; and my colleague, Mdm. Low Kee Sun, for their perseverance, positive mindset, and strong spirit in making this meaningful outreach come true. On the 16th of May, the journey from Kent Campus to SK Bilit took nearly nine hours. The journey was not smooth sailing, as the condition of certain parts of the road was still undesirable. Nevertheless, Mdm. Ainon, Mdm. Low, and I remained calm, despite the exhaustion. After the exhausting nine hours, we finally arrived at SK Bilit, a small, humble school with fewer than a hundred pupils, less than twenty teaching staff, and two administrative clerks, located on the riverside of the Kinabatangan River, the longest river in Sabah, the land below the wind.
PENILAIAN PROGRAM 14 Along with us, we brought 25 trainee teachers. We were warmly greeted by the headmaster, teachers, and administrative staff. We were given a very late lunch around 4 in the evening. Lunch was served in polystyrene lunch boxes, which surprised me as it was unexpected. I had expected something better, not realizing that this small but serene place is so far from the nearest city, Sandakan. I reminded myself that we should be grateful for the abundant provisions we have and that we must appreciate what we are sincerely served with. After the late lunch, we had dinner within a short interval of time due to the timing. Dinner was no different from lunch, also served in individual polystyrene packets. This time we were not surprised, as we understood that food is not as easily available as it is in big cities. Being content and grateful is a valuable lesson we all ought to learn from time to time. Shortly after the late lunch but early dinner, we quickly scrutinized the rooms for the three programs that would be conducted simultaneously the next day. These included a robotics workshop led by Mdm. Low and a few trainee teachers, a continuous professional development workshop led by myself and assisted by Mdm. Ainon, and a Tamu Science and Mathematics fair solely conducted by the trainee teachers without any lecturers assisting them. After settling the necessary setup at the three locations for the programs, we headed to our accommodation at Sukau Homestay.
PENILAIAN PROGRAM 15 The next day, we arrived at the school to conduct the programs. I was glad to see the crowd of pupils and teachers at the registration counter slowly building up. Altogether, there were 16 teachers from different nearby primary and secondary schools registered for my continuous professional development workshop. The workshop, entitled "Inquiry through 5E, " aimed to help teachers develop a 5E Science lesson plan with a specific level of inquiry. To achieve the workshop's objective, we lined up three hands-on, creative, and interesting activities for the teachers: the magic flower, the Cartesian diver, and the dancing raisins. Through the magic flower activity, the teachers were exposed to structured inquiry and the "Predict, Explain, Observe, Explain" (PEOE) strategy, although this activity primarily served as an ice-breaking session. It aimed to enable teachers to set aside their personal problems, relax, and enjoy being part of a group with a common goal.
PENILAIAN PROGRAM 16 The workshop continued with the Cartesian diver activity. During this session, the teachers were once again exposed to the PEOE strategy, along with the introduction of the technique of asking questions, predominantly focusing on teachers' productive questions. They were asked to list all the questions that arose while they conducted the hands-on Cartesian diver activity. They were then introduced to the six different types of productive questions that teachers should ask from the beginning to the end of the teaching and learning process. We explained the difference between non-investigable and investigable questions. The teachers were required to group the questions they had listed into non-investigable and investigable categories. They were then taught how to reframe a non-investigable question into an investigable one. Like the magic flower activity, the Cartesian diver activity was conducted according to the level of structured inquiry.
PENILAIAN PROGRAM 17 The workshop went on smoothly in the morning. In the afternoon, the session began with an explanation of the four levels of inquiry, aiming to help teachers understand why the magic flower and Cartesian diver activities fit into structured inquiry and how the same activities can be adapted to fit the confirmation, guided, and open inquiries. The workshop continued with the dancing raisins activity, again utilizing structured inquiry. This time, the aim was to share with the teachers the concept of the 5E lesson plan. After the teachers had gained an understanding of the four levels of inquiry, PEOE, the importance of asking questions, and the 5E instructional model, they spent the rest of the afternoon developing a 5E lesson plan with a specific level of inquiry. Their work demonstrated that they could develop a 5E Science lesson based on a specific level of inquiry, incorporating a hands-on activity embedded with at least two or more related scientific concepts.
PENILAIAN PROGRAM 18 All in all, I am satisfied with the workshop as the set objective was clearly achieved. It is hoped that these teachers will not only apply what they gained in their classes but also share it with other teachers. This is for one good reason: to make the teaching and learning of science more engaging and interesting with hands-on activities. Consequently, to increase the enrollment of students in the Science stream and to align with the national objective of achieving a 60% science to 40% arts ratio.

Your unit and intake. 4. Please tell me what you enjoyed the most about this program. 6. What (if any) do you dislike 7. Suggestions to improve the execution of this program. Thank you for your cooperation. GERALD ALDOKENT SILVESTER (PISMP MATEMATIK SK/SJKC 1 AMB JUN 2021/2026) For me, I enjoyed almost every moment in this programme. From our trip going to SK Bilit until the moment we need to say goodbye to SK Bilit. But, if I were asked to choose at most one, I think I enjoyed the moment when SK Bilit brought us for a river cruise along Sungai Kinabatangan. Even though it was actually my second time, it still feel amazing and exciting as before. I’ve learnt a lot from the river cruise especially about the nature around SK Bilit as well as Sukau, Kinabatangan. I also enjoyed the Robotic Workshop that I’ve conducted along with Madam Low and my other 4 facilitators friend. I feel very happy as all teachers who participated shows a lot of interest to the session given and have the urge to master all the skills and knowledge that we taught in the workshop. I can see why teachers are always related to lifelong learning from this. The only thing that I need to complain about for this programme is that we have a shortage of space for the transport we use to go and return for this programme. Hoping that we will be given transport that is enough in space for the next programme. I really hope from this programme, every individual or organisation that helped us especially for some fund can see that this kind of programme is actually worth the money and should be conducted more in the future. I also hope the sharing in this programme can also inspire all schools to be apply STEM in a more futuristic way. I also really hope that PPD Kinabatangan could inspire other PPDs in Sabah to conduct programmes like this (and of course invite us hehe ). Last but not least, kudos to all my friends that are involved, thank you Madam Ainon, Dr Chiam, Madam Low and Mr Tan for the guidance, and Uncle Ramlan and Uncle George for driving us safely. Thank you and good job to SK Bilit because manage to conduct this programme despite being a SKM school deep inside Sukau, really sure that it will inspire many schools out there. 8 19
Pembentangan Inovasi dengan Timb. PPD Kinabatangan Name: Hau Chi En Unit: PISMP Sains SJKC 1 AMB JUN2021 What i learn: In this trip, i learned how to communicate with student in rural area. Most of them are more introvert compare to city student. They also need a lot of prihatin and patience to teach. But after those activity, they feel more confidence and very happy to learn new knowledge by hands on learning method. This is the first time i went to sekolah kurang murid SKM pedalaman1. This experience was very unique and very special for me. I learn also integrate with student with different background and look into the reality of their lifes. They had a very limited of food choices and also transport. This will affect the attendance of student to school. So we as a teacher we must pay a lot of patience and passion for them to grow and learn happily. 20
Petak Jam Ajaib booth 7 EUGENEIA LOMINUS ( PISMP MATEMATICS SK/SJKC 1 2021/2026 INTAKE ) First and foremost, i am beyond grateful as i had been given a chance to be a part of this JSTEM’s outreach specially in Tamu Sains Dan Matematik. Although there are lots of challenges happened before and during this outreach but then i believe this is a part of learning as a teacher to be. For me, i enjoyed every little things happened during this outreach. This is because the experience, knowledge and journey would never be the same in other place. Starting from our 9 hours journey to SK Bilit, it was fun and we have the chance to strengthen our relationship between friends, lecturer and coaster driver. Long journey become more enjoyable with great people ! After that, upon arriving at SK Bilit we were welcome well by the teachers there. Be good to people always ! Other than that, i have the chance to build good experiences with the students in Kinabatangan district. I learn how to communicate and reach out with different types of pupils. In my booth which is Petak Jam Ajaib i found out that there are still lots of students who cannot memorise cipher 2 until 9. Having the time to teach them an alternative in mastering cipher is a pleasure. Not only can help them to improve their mathematics skill i also try to foster interest in mathematics. In conclusion of our Tamu Science and Mathematic, we recieved an open arm from students, teachers, local community and also from the tourist. I hope this outreach will continuosly conducted in the future as many good and benefit will come. Next, we also have given the chance to explore one of the tourist attraction in Kinabatangan which is the River Cruise ! My very first time experience and of course it is exciting For future improvement, the team can bring more station for the Tamu so that student can gain more experience and knowledge in mathematic and science. Take a look how the games in education can nurture their interest and develop students’ critical thinking. Therefore, 20 students are not enough to handle the representative students from all schools in Kinabatangan District. I hope that more organisation will join hands by donating fund for this kind of outreach. Last but not least, shoutout to all the lecturers and staffs for this beautiful experiences and thank you for your guidance from the beginning until this SK Bilit outreach come to an end. To our head of department, Madam Ainon Binti Hadim thank you madam for always giving us courage, advices and prioritizing our needs throughout this outreach. Also to all my fellow friends who struggling enough to make this outreach a success. You guys are amazing !! This SK Bilit trip was indeed a wonderful experience ;)) 7 21
ALEXANDER CURAMBAO (PISMP MATEMATIK SK/SJKC 1 AMB JUN 2021/2026) First of all, I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to participate in a program like this because there are various new experiences that I have gained such as I have the opportunity to meet the community in Kinabatangan village and can see the culture shown by the community, especially the teachers and students in SK Bilit, Kinabatangan. In addition, I also had the opportunity to operate a station that I had never operated before and this gave me a new exposure to the Science concept of my station and how to operate it properly. In the meantime, I was able to find out the appropriate method to provide a simpler and more effective explanation to the students so that they can not only play the game provided, but also learn a new concept that can be applied in the real life situation. Next, I also feel grateful because I had the opportunity to follow a new and very interesting activity which is River Cruise in Sungai Kinabatangan. I could see various beauties of the environment such as rivers, green plants, animals (crocodile, proboscis monkey, hornbill, and elephant). With this, I have learned that we need to take care of the environment as best as possible because it is a unique identity in a country that can be a useful asset for the country's progress. Finally, I would like to say a thanks to all that has made this SK Bilit InnovateED program a success directly or indirectly, especially to Madam Ainon, Madam Low, Sir Tan, Bus Driver (Uncle Ramlan and Uncle George), teachers of SK Bilit, and friends. Honestly, this program is very interesting and meaningful to me. That is all from me, Thank you!! 7 NUR MADIHAH BINTI MISLAN (PPISMP MATEMATIK SK AMB JUN 2023/2028) Pertama sekali syukur kehadrat Ilahi kerana segala urusan sepanjang program dipermudah walaupun pada mulanya terdapat beberapa kekangan dan masalah yang berlaku.
5 AHMAD FARID BIN ABDUL KARIM, (PISMP SN 1 SK AMB JUN 21/26) First of all, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all the STEM lecturers, because without them we would not have been able to participate in such a program, and they always strive to think of ways to secure funding for the 3-day 2-night program in Kinabatangan. Next, I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to my friends, the 25 members who participated in this program. Even though we come from different races and religions, we all can eat together, sit together, talk each other, help each other, and share our knowledge and understanding with one another. It cannot be denied that many memories, experiences, and new knowledge were gained during our time at SK Bilit, Kinabatangan. The memories built while riding a boat along the Kinabatangan River are unforgettable. On both sides of the river, we were treated to breathtaking natural scenery, including crocodiles basking on the banks, elephants moving in groups at the edge of the forest, and hornbills flying majestically above the tall trees. The atmosphere came to life as we watched monkeys swinging from branch to branch with agility. Every moment of this journey was filled with awe at the beauty of nature and the uniqueness of wildlife that is hard to find elsewhere. The experience of being a robotics facilitator for teachers in using MicroBit and ZoomBit provided me with a wealth of valuable new knowledge. Throughout the training sessions, I could see how enthusiastic and eager the teachers were to learn about this new technology to enhance their teaching methods. Together, we explored various applications and creative projects using MicroBit and ZoomBit, which not only expanded my knowledge of robotics but also opened our minds to the vast potential within STEM education. Through the interactions and discussions that took place, I not only played the role of a facilitator but also became a learner, gaining new techniques and different perspectives from these dedicated teachers. During my time at Sekolah Kurang Murid (SKM) and Pedalaman 1 schools, I gained many invaluable experiences that opened my eyes and mind to the challenges and uniqueness of education in rural areas. I found that although the facilities and resources might be limited, the spirit and dedication of the teachers and the eagerness of the students to learn were extraordinary. This experience taught me about the importance of creativity and innovation in teaching, where teachers often need to find extraordinary ways to make learning engaging and effective. Additionally, interactions with 23
the local community gave me a new perspective on the importance of education in transforming the lives and futures of children in rural areas. This entire experience not only enriched my knowledge about the world of education but also strengthened my sense of responsibility as an educator to give my best to all students, regardless of their background. 5 Mdm Low Kee Sun (STEM Department IPGMK Kent) Reading your heartfelt reflection massage, I couldn't help but be overwhelmed with emotion, and tears streamed down my face. Each word is filled with sincerity and gratitude, like a warm current that touched my heart deeply, filling me with endless warmth and comfort. I am grateful that I still have the ability to contribute to the STEM Education field. Seeing these heartfelt reflections from you, it make all the efforts worthwhile. Reflecting on this journey, every struggle faced, every effort made, and every sacrifice now seems so meaningful. This is not just the highest affirmation of my work but also a tremendous encouragement to my spirit. I will continue to move forward with a grateful heart, steadfast in my resolve to bring more hope and change to our STEM education. Every bit of effort, every drop of sweat, has been beautifully rewarded in this moment. Love you gais!❤️❤️❤️ 5 DARREN AARON LINGGAM (PISMP MATEMATUJ SK/SJKC 1 AMB JUN 2021/2026) first of all, when we were told about this program at the beginning of the year, I quickly took the opportunity without feeling shy to get involved because I wanted to get a new experience which is the atmosphere of the school in the east coast area of Sabah. Next, I was chosen as the leader by Mrs. Ainon to help her in doing internal affairs such as organization of committee members, division of duties and so on. There are various types of challenges in this management especially in the management of accommodation, transport and food. However, with God's permission, everything ended successfully. On the first day there, I felt very excited. Even so, the journey is not easy because it takes a very long time and the road conditions are bad. Like it or not, we have to go on and stay strong. Along the way, my friends and I spent a lot of time singing and sleeping. As soon as we arrived there, the school greeted us very warmly. On the second day, we started the setup and activities throughout the day. We received many participants from students of different schools. Some come to our station many times to play, some ask a lot to learn. Even though I was very tired because I couldn't 24
take enough rest, I felt satisfied. In the evening of the same day, we were taken on a river cruise to explore and see the animals. There are some unique animals that we have seen which are crocodiles, hornbills, elephants and proboscis monkeys. On the same night, we had a lot of fun with the school because we were able to sing and dance together. Finally, on the last day, we had a closing ceremony and took various photos as memories. In summary, this experience gained is a very sweet and meaningful experience and if there is another opportunity in the future, of course I will take that opportunity again. 5 Reflection on the Program InovatED from the CCTV of Dr. Chiam Sun May, Pensyarah Cemerlang Gred Khas C IPGMK Kent We are a group of experienced educators dedicated to advancing STEM education. One of our strengths is outreach through TAMU STEM, an authentic brand from Jabatan STEM IPGMK Kent. For the first time, we took our trainee teachers on a 368 km journey to Kinabatangan with limited funds, reaching 31 primary schools. Despite facing challenges with food, accommodation, and transport, we remain committed to conducting two CPD sessions for patron teachers by Mr. Tan Cho Chiew on IBSE and Mdm Low Kee Sun on Robotik. The Tamu STEM was fully organized by our 25 trainee teachers and monitored by our ketua jabatan Pn. Ainon binti Hadim. This journey taught us invaluable lessons in logistics and resource management. We are deeply grateful to IPGM, Dr. Haji Mohamad Isa Azis Timbalan Rektor PHEP, Pn Laila, UKK IPGM for additional funding, and our personal friends for their moral support and local assistance in Kinabatangan. Our trip objectives were: 1. Showcase best practices of IPG through TAMU STEM. 2. Introduce the concept of service learning, a principle we have upheld for 20 years. 3. Foster resilience, flexibility, and teamwork in future teachers. 4. Conduct two CPD sessions on IBSE and digital learning for Kinabatangan. 5. Collect data for research on a Science Camp model suitable for primary schools in Sabah. Despite internal and external hurdles, we succeeded. This experience reaffirmed our vision for innovative and resilient STEM education. I am happy to see the positive impact of this program 25
on those who were in Kinabatangan during these 3 days. We will do a better one in Pitas next. Finally, have time to go on fulltime sick leave. Thank you all. 6 NURFARIDA BINTI SAMSUL (PISMP MATEMATIK SK 2 AMBILAN JUN 2021/2026) First of all, I would like to express my gratitude and congratulations to my 25 friends for being willing to not go back to home early to ensure the success of the TAMU STEM event in Kinabatangan. I deeply appreciate the effort and commitment shown by each of them. Without the cooperation and high spirits from everyone, this program would not have been successful. I would also like to say thank you to the lecturers who worked hard to ensure this event ran smoothly and provided us with the opportunity to further enrich our knowledge. Additionally, I extend my gratitude to the SK Bilit, who were very friendly and treated us very well, ensuring our comfort throughout our stay. During my time at SK Bilit, I was in charge of the Innovation station created by my group. This was the first time I had the opportunity to share an innovation with the students. As a result, the students were very excited about our innovation, called the Guess The Coordinate Game. Not only were they interested in the game, but some students also played it more than once, showing how much they truly enjoyed and benefited from the innovation. From this program, I learned how to convey knowledge to students more effectively. Additionally, I was able to get to know the personalities and characteristics of the students there, who were diverse and unique, giving me a broader perspective on how to approach and teach them. I also gained a very valuable experience by taking a river cruise on the Kinabatangan River, the longest river in Sabah. This experience was very enjoyable because we had the opportunity to see various wild animals in their natural habitats while on the boat. One of the most exciting moments was when we saw a large elephant up close. This experience not only provided enjoyment but also opened our eyes to the beauty and diversity of nature in Sabah. All these experiences made the TAMU STEM program not only academically beneficial but also provided invaluable memories and lessons. 5 26

Nur Aleeya Usman | PPISMP Matematik Amb Jun 2023 Input: This was the first time I got the chance to see and experience Sekolah Kurang Murid @ Sekolah Pedalaman 1 where SK Bilit only has 1 class each year with a total of 53 students . Even though SK Bilit might have limitations in terms of infrastructure and learning resources, it doesn't stop the school from providing the best education for the students. During our first visit on the first day, 16 May, I discovered Sk Bilit has Smart TV in each of the classes, which showed us how SK Bilit was ahead in using technology in education. The thing I enjoyed the most about this programme is that we got to see the excitement of the kids learning more and more about STEM by playing in each station on this tamu. They like the fun learning environment plus hands-on activity provided by tamu. This approach that we used surely attracted the students' curiosity. Overall, I hope TAMU STEM will continuously be held in more schools, whether in the city or rural areas, as long as the objectives of delivering the knowledge escpecially about STEM to the students achieved.NAME: NUR ALEEYA BINTI USMAN UNIT/INTAKE: PPISMP MATEMATIK AMB JUN 2023/2028 Input: This was the first time I got the chance to see and experience Sekolah Kurang Murid @ Sekolah Pedalaman 1 where SK Bilit only has 1 class each year with a total of 53 students . This time, JSTEM's outreach paved its way along the bumpy roads to visit Pedalaman 1 and SKM School, Sekolah Kebangsaan Bilit, Kinabatangan. Right from the start, we were greeted very kindly by the teachers. Upon arriving at the school, it was very quite and peaceful because there were no students at that time as it was already over school time. So, we decided 27
to unpack our stuff for the workshops and the tamu STEM. Although categorized as SKM (Sekolah Kurang Murid), with only 55 students, the school is very much decorated with many murals, paintings, and informative arts all throughout the schools vicinities. Second day started with us waking up as early as 5.30 am, we got ready with our bags and supplies for the big day. It was my first time as a faci for workshops this time, I would usually be in charge of the tamu robotik. But it was fun nonetheless, I got to meet many new teachers from other schools, especially Cikgu Khairul from SMK Bukit Garam, he is a teacher with almost 17 years of experience in robotics and mechatronics. I got to chat with him a little bit in between breaks, he is very generous with his knowledge and past experiences in robotics. As a member of Kent Robotics Club myself, I am very much intrigued after hearing his sharing and I feel very motivated to join many more robotics competitions to expand my knowledge in this field. Another highlight of the trip was when we all got to ride the Kinabatangan Rivercruise. It was a once in a lifetime experience for us as we got to cruise along the longest river in Sabah. Adding more to it, we got to see many rare animals and its various species, such as Hornbills, Monkeys, especially the odd-nosed Proboscis Monkey, and Crocodiles and the best part was getting to see a wild Elephant upfront. Not forget to mention the mesmerising view of the river that we got to enjoy along our 2 hour cruise. It gave me the thought of the importance of preserving our wildlife to ensure that these unique creatures are able to see the light of the future and also for the upcoming generations of our children. Overall, this outreach was truly a unique experience all by itself, definitely one of my most memorable trip yet. Although we had to go through many challenges even before the trip such as our transportation, our accommodation for 3 days and 2 nights, we still get to overcome all of that, thanks to all of the people especially our lecturers Mdm Ainon, Sir Tan, and Mdm Low who sacrificed a lot and fought so much to make this trip a reality. Huge appreciation also goes to the drivers, Uncle George and Uncle Ramlan, enduring long hours and poor road terrains to make sure that we safely arrived at our destination. I have learned many things from this trip, when we are assigned to rural areas and schools deep inside rural places, it takes a lot of patience and understanding about our surroundings. With the mindset of helping the students, we surely will have pure intentions in helping them to be a better person. I hope to be apart of many more outreaches in the future, no matter how far or how long it takes, i will try to grab that chance no matter what. 5 28
4 ELIZABETH RUTH BERNARD (PPISMP AMB JUN 2023) Wow, where do I even begin? When the institute offered me the opportunity to participate in this STEM program, I'll admit I was a little nervous. But now, looking back, I can say with absolute certainty that it was one of the most incredible and life-changing experiences I've ever had. From the moment we arrived in the rural community, I was struck by the sheer beauty of the landscape and the warmth of the people. As we dove into exploring the challenges and opportunities of life in these remote areas. It was truly inspiring to see how SK BILIT, Kinabatangan could leverage STEM disciplines to make a real, tangible impact. And, of course, the impact we were able to have on the local schools was truly humbling. Seeing the way our STEM HUB outreach made the kids amazed in awe and smile learning new things. Thank you, IPGMK KENT, for providing this incredible opportunity, and thank you to the seniors who have been such amazing mentors and friends throughout this process. I know that the lessons I've learned and the connections I've made will continue to guide me as I navigate the next chapter of my journey.
3 NUR ALEEYA USMAN | PPISMP MATEMATIK AMB JUN 2023 NAME: NUR ALEEYA BINTI USMAN UNIT/INTAKE: PPISMP MATEMATIK AMB JUN 2023/2028 Input: This was the first time I got the chance to see and experience Sekolah Kurang Murid @ Sekolah Pedalaman 1 where SK Bilit only has 1 class each year with a total of 53 students . Overall, I hope TAMU STEM will continuously be held in more schools, whether in the city or rural areas, as long as the objectives of delivering the knowledge escpecially about STEM to the students achieved.NAME: NUR 32

Look at how messy and fun the Oobleck can get! Terima kasih! ✨ 5 SITI ZAYANA BINTI MISTOH@MASTAN (PISMP SN2) What I enjoyed the most about the TAMU STEM program at SK Bilit Kinabatangan was being in charge of the Oobleck station. It was an absolute hit with the students. Their faces lit up with excitement as they interacted with the mysterious substance, eagerly observing its unconventional behavior. The hands-on nature of the activity sparked their curiosity, leading to lively discussions and enthusiastic experimentation. Witnessing their genuine engagement and fascination was incredibly gratifying, making the session both memorable and impactful. Challenges arose with the messiness and limited water supply. To address this, positioning the station near a water supply would streamline cleanup and ensure easy handwashing for participants. Additionally, placing the station nearby ensures efficient management of resources, eliminating the need for excessive water transportation. This adjustment not only enhances the cleanliness of the activity but also promotes sustainability by conserving water usage. Furthermore, it fosters a more organized flow of activities, allowing for seamless transitions between stations and maximizing engagement. 6 35
Telepathy booth NURUL ALIYYA ZAHIRAH BINTI MOHAMMAD ALI (PPISMP MATEMATIK SK JUNE 2023/2028 INTAKE) To begin with, I would like to express my gratitude to IPGM Kampus Kent for giving me this golden opportunity to be a part of this wonderful programme. Although it's my second TAMU STEM, the excitement in me doesn't reduced even for a little bit, and it will forever stay that way. I must say that I gained numerous new experiences, let it be the experience of riding a bus for a long and far road trip with my others friend, the experience of reaching Sekolah Kurang Murid and Sekolah Pedalaman (P1), and even the experience of cruising around the Sungai Kinabatangan! The moment we arrived SK Bilit, the principal and the teachers there welcomed us with open arms and warm hearts. Just like how the principal said, we've connected instantly like a family although we've just met. Even while writing this reflection, I've miss the environment there a lot. On the day of the Tamu Stem itself, I was in charge of the Telepathy booth, a booth where most of the teachers said we're using "ilmu hitam". I must say that I really enjoyed conducting this booth as I get to see each and every reactions the students, teachers, and even the principal himself reacted to our booth. Some are confused, most of them are curious and shocked, and some even begged us for the trick! What I still remember up to this day is, when there's one or two students who are willing to finished all of their tokens just to stay at our booth, trying to figure out our tricks until they get it (but they didn't though). The kids had me giggled all day and they even called me "cikgu magic" each time they saw me. Another moment that I could say I will never be able to forget is, our river cruise activity. I won't deny that it truly is the best RM20 I have ever purchased my whole life. I'm a type of person who are scared of water, let alone riding a boat. However, seeing all of my friends joined it and considering it is a once in a lifetime moment, I knew I had to give it a try, and I don't regret it a bit. The next day, we are near to the closing ceremony and I must say, I'm sad that it is reaching towards the end of our programme. I also got the chance to present my Telepathy booth along with my senior, Fazlyana in front of the Timbalan PPD Kinabatangan, Tuan Amdan. His comment really helps me to improve my skills to become a teacher one day. I hope that in the future, many programme similar to this will be held as it can inspires all students to engage in learning STEM. Thank you to my fellow lecturers, Madam Ainon, Madam Low, Sir Tan, and also Dr Chiam, for taking a good care of us for three days and two nights. Also not to forget, Uncle George and Uncle Ramlan, our drivers for taking us there safely. My fellow seniors, and of course, my beloved classmates, PPISMP Math girls who are taking good care of one another since it's only seven of us. Overall, I'm very happy throughout the whole programme despite all the challenges we are facing before, during, and after the programme itself. This memories will have a special place in my heart as I learned a lot here. Thank you! 36
FAZLYANA BINTI KARIM (PISMP MATEMATIK SK/SJKC 1 AMB JUN 2021/2026) Reflection The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) PROGRAMME program at Sekolah Kebangsaan Bilit was an immensely valuable experience, leaving a profound impact on both the students and teachers at the school. This initiative aimed to enhance students' awareness and interest in STEM fields, while also bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications in everyday life. Students at SK Bilit displayed high levels of interest and excitement in the STEM activities provided. They had the opportunity to participate directly in scientific experiments, technological projects, and creative engineering activities. Through these hands-on experiences, students could understand basic concepts in science and technology more deeply and comprehensively. STEM activities allowed students to explore abstract concepts in a more concrete and engaging manner. For instance, through scientific experiments, students could observe chemical reactions and physical phenomena that they had previously only read about in textbooks. This helped enhance their comprehension and retention of these subjects. Through STEM activities, students were trained to think critically and solve problems. They learned to analyze situations, formulate hypotheses, test theories, and draw conclusions based on evidence. These skills are not only crucial in academic contexts but also in their everyday lives. STEM activities often involve group work. Students learned to collaborate, share ideas, and appreciate the contributions of each team member. This fosters a spirit of teamwork and essential communication skills, vital for their future success. In this program, teachers acted as facilitators, guiding and supporting students in exploring the world of STEM. This empowered teachers to adopt more interactive and student-centered teaching approaches, which have proven to be more effective in enhancing students' understanding and interest in STEM subjects. This STEM guest program is expected to spark positive changes in how SK Bilit students perceive and approach science and mathematics subjects. With the interest and knowledge cultivated through this program, it is hoped that more students will aspire to pursue higher education and careers in STEM fields, ultimately contributing to the nation's development. The STEM guest program at SK Bilit not only enriched students' learning experiences but also provided inspiration and motivation for them to continue learning and striving for success in STEM fields. It is a 38
highly meaningful initiative that should be continued and expanded for greater benefits in the future. 4 BALQIS HAMIEZAH HIBRIYAH BINTI BAHARUDIN (PISMP MATHEMATICS SK 1 JUN 2021/2026) First, I really enjoyed this trip because this tamu was held far away from our campus. On the first day I went to Kinabatangan, the 6-hours journey didn’t feel long; it was filled with laughter and beautiful scenery. We also sang some songs to liven up the atmosphere. As soon as we arrive at Sk Bilit, we're pull out all the stuff and set up the tables together. The teachers at Sk Bilit are so friendly, and they welcomed us kindly. We experienced no water and electricity at midnight at our homestay. On the next day, the programme invited students and teachers from a variety of schools in kinabatangan. They were so excited to try every station in our Tamu. For my station magic fireworks, some students repeatedly come to play and see the reaction of fat and soap. After that, we were riding boats to explore the Kinabatangn River. Luckily, we can see a gigantic elephant, hornbills, crocodiles, and monkeys. such a wonderful experience. During the night, we present aerodance and sing some songs as our performance for Cultural Night. On the last day, the deputy ppd came to inaugurate the programme and visit some stations, and we exchanged gifts with SK Bilit. We also took pictures with the school community as memories. I'm really grateful that I can join this tamu in Sekolah Padaman 1. It's such an interesting and meaningful experience for me. thankyou!
