DREAMING OF A GREEN CHRISTMAS 4
The heavenly scent of fresh holly and eucalyptus filled our home 2
at Christmas, writes Norah Casey. Growing up in the Phoenix
Park, bringing the outdoors in, was a family activity. Foliage and
botanicals were fashioned into wreaths, bouquets and garlands
creating this lovely aromatic woodland feel. This year, Christmas
will be all about connecting with friends and families (now that
we can) and nostalgia will play a huge part in creating that cosy
and comforting Christmassy spirit from childhood. Giving
your home a seasonal botanical flair with lush green leaves,
whether real or sustainably faux, creates rich textures
and aromas. The focus is less on a lavish tree and more
towards key focal points like fireplace mantels, doorways
and staircases. Match it with some lovely orange and
cinnamon scented candles, plush cushions and simple
artisanal handcra ed ornaments to create that Christmas
cabin vibe. This year’s green theme blends both our
heightened sense of sustainability with nature-inspired
style and decor. Use wood, natural rattans, re-usable
fabrics and recyclable wrapping paper and head out
to the woods for some foliage foraging. Here are our
botanical picks matched by some lovely sustainable
and botanical fashion pieces.
