SWEET BLOOD CALL
A revolutionary artist in her own right, Nan Goldin has
changed the face of feminist art with her explosive
body of work spanning five decades. To compare her
would be unfair; but she sits alongside stalwarts of the
art world like Marina Abramovic and Cindy Sherman,
simply because her work is unflinchingly gritty and
visceral. IMMA presents her first ever solo exhibition in
Ireland this summer with Sweet Blood Call, a selection
of her drawings and portraits of women, charting her
transgressive and unique views of sexuality and gender.
Goldin documented her own unfiltered life, from the
suicide of her sister and the Bowery’s drag queens,
to her own drug misuse and redemption after rehab.
Exhibiting from 16 June until 15 October, this is one
of those exhibitions you only get to see once in your
lifetime. An absolute essential. imma.ie
