StyYlOeURway

As part of its Your5 Style event, Dundrum Town Centre is
shining a light on this season’s hottest trends and its hottest
experts - the Personal Style Team! We caught up with Laura
Mullett to discover why personal shopping really is for everyone

How did you get into personal shopping?
I became a personal shopper as a natural progression from
where my career was headed. I started working in journalism
and fashion and was using my blog to showcase my work
and what I was getting up to. I started to get requests for
guidance and to share information on trends and how to wear
them, then people started asking for personal consultations
and a client base followed. A huge part is referrals, a positive
experience means repeat bookings and helping a client build
the wardrobe that will cater for their day to day life.

Is it really for everybody?
I do think that personal shopping is something everyone
should try at least once. It's like shopping with an efficient,
unbiased and helpful friend. A lot of people who avail of the
service find that it helps them regain their confidence and
also to recalibrate their thinking so they don't box off options
that they assume won’t suit them. It's about pushing yourself
outside your comfort zone and finding value for money.

Do you need to be dressing for an
occasion or can you use the service
for help with your day-to-day look? What common mistakes do
Most people like to book the service for "I DO THINK THAT women make when trying to

No one should ever be nervous when visiting a personal
shopper. A personal shopper is only there to make your load
a little lighter and to give you advice. And the reality is that
most are like myself, chatty and so used to helping out. I work What top tip would you give any woman before she

form the basis of a great AW statement outfit – it’s just knowing the styling tricks behind the look. A
supersized red cashmere sweater, slung over a patterned midi skirt and topped with stomping utility
boots, will be your new go-to outfit for kicking through autumn leaves. Balance a voluminous chunky
cream cable knit with a streamlined silhouette on your bottom half – think slim black trousers and a
cross-body bag to create some shape. Finally, don’t be afraid to clash your textures. Knits work great
with more opulent fabrics such as slinky silk, supple leather and shiny patent.

the harshest winter winds while keeping you looking stylish is the fashion holy grail. For AW 2017,
the puffa has had a new-season makeover. Choose embroidered or pretty patterned prints (blanket
chic, anyone?) or go space age with futuristic high-shine shades. Much like the knitwear trend, a
voluminous silhouette is key so perhaps try on a size above your usual. Or, if you’re not afraid of making
a statement, why not go full-on cosy with a to-the-floor style?

The Embellished Boot

Designers had a great deal of fun this season with jewels, sequins, sculpted heels and elaborate
embellishment adorning boots, courts, heels, flats - you name it. This is footwear with a difference
- a glittery, disco ball difference. Bejewelled lace-up utility boots will have you ready for action and
marching to attention when styled with floral frocks and chunky knits. After dark, your new-season
dancing boots can pack a serious sparkle punch - just leave the chandelier earrings at home, throw on
your favourite LBD and make a statement from the feet up.
