EXPERIMENT 5: APPLY THE TIMER USING PLC- CJ2M TRAINER KIT GP313

Objectives:
1. To write the ladder diagram program using CX- Programmer.
2. To apply the basic function using CX-Programmer.
3. To upload the program through CX-Programmer to PLC-CJ2M Trainer Kit.

Apparatus:
1. CX-Programmer Software
2. PLC-CJ2M Trainer Kit

Introduction:
Timers
1. Timers are normally used for time delay. It can be ON delay, OFF delay and etc. TIM is

decrementing ON-delay timer instruction which requires a timer number and a set value (SV)
ranging from 0000 to 9999 (0 to 999.9 seconds).
2. Example of application of Timer:

EXPERIMENT 5: APPLY THE TIMER USING PLC- CJ2M TRAINER KIT GP313

Procedures:

1. Open the CX-Programmer program and follow the guide from Introduction of CX-
Programmer note.

2. Using your knowledge of cascading timers, develop a ladder logic program which will
sequence a set of green, amber and red lights in the following manner:

Task 1: Traffic Control using 3 Lights

Sequence of Operation:
a. Light O:1/00 (Red) = 12 seconds ON
b. Light O:1/02 (Green) = 8 seconds ON
c. Light O:1/01 (Amber) = 4 seconds ON
d. The sequence now repeats with Red = ON.

Task 2: Traffic Control using 6 Lights

3. Modify your program so that the 3 lights which represent the other traffic direction are

also controlled.

4. Upload your ladder program through USB cable to PLC. 44

5. Ensure the program you write can able to execute the following tasks.

6. If you program success to execute the following tasks, you need to write your program at
PLC program list and input/output list.

Introduction:
Counter
1. Counter (CNT) is a preset decremental counter. That is, it decrements one count everytime

an input signal goes from OFF to ON. The counter must be programmed with a count input,
a reset input, a counter number and a set value (SV). The counter number can range from
000 to 255.

TRAINER KIT

Procedures:

1. Open the CX-Programmer program and follow the guide from Introduction of CX-
Programmer note.

2. Using your knowledge of cascading counters, develop a ladder logic program which will
execute the sequence in the following manner:

When PB1 (START Push Button) is press, the lamp1 will turn ON for 5 seconds only.
After 5 seconds, the lamp2 will blinking for 10 times. After it done to execute that task,
the lamp3 will blinking for 5 times. The interval time for blinking is 10 seconds. After
that, the lamp4 will turn ON until received signal from PB2 (STOP Push Button).

3. Upload your ladder program through USB cable to PLC.

4. Ensure the program you write can able to execute the following tasks.

PLC program list and input/output list.
