trate. In Masvingo we notice that we are celebrating
and remembering war liberation war veterans
by naming streets after them with all the streets
of the suburb of Runyararo West bearing the
names of deceased combatants. In Auxillia we
do have one ex HIV&AIDS war combatant who
gave her all in the fight against this deadly
pandemic which is still with us today. She is one
person who deserves to have a street in the city
of Masvingo named after her as a late heroine.
The history of the fight against HIV&AIDS can-
not be complete without mentioning the name
of Auxillia Chimusoro. She is one fighter who
fought when the war against HIV&AIDS was still
fiery hot experiencing stigma, poverty and lack
of medication. Here was a brave and selfless
woman who championed the challenges of
people living with HIV. Her provincial, national
and international untiring efforts contributed
immensely to HIV&AIDS awareness and preven-
tion. Auxillia started Batanai, the first HIV&AIDS
support group in Zimbabwe and went on to fa-
cilitate the formation and training of many more
groups in Masvingo Province and was one of the
founder members of what is now Zimbabwe Na-
tional Network of People Living with HIV&AIDS
(ZNNP+) thereby uniting people living with HIV
for support, life skills and advocacy purposes.
We therefore call upon the Masvingo City fathers
to seriously consider naming one of the city’s
streets ‘’Auxillia Chimusoro Street’’, in recog-
nition of her sterling efforts and as a way of
celebrating her contribution to the war against
HIV&AIDS. Another option would be to name
the newly built clinic in the suburb of Runyararo
West after her.

BEITBRIDGE- Four suspects have been arrested
for allegedly selling 23 residential stands in Be-

without the knowledge of the company.
The stands which are in Matibe Low Density

the four were arrested on Wednesday and
were remanded in custody by Regional Mag-

budget approved

ALVINA CHIWANIKA

SHURUGWI – The Minister of Local Government
and National Housing, July Moyo has approved
Tongogara Rural District Council’s (RDC) $881
million budget for the year 2022.
Tongogara RDC chairman, Golden Kapeta con-
firmed the development to The Mirror.
“Our 2022 annual budget has been approved
and this has risen from $296 million as of
2021,” said Kapeta.
The council has an allocation of $369 million
for devolution projects and $37 million for the
Emergency Road Rehabilitation Program.
Kapeta said a big chunk of the budget will be
for service delivery, completion of schools and
clinics and repair of roads which were dam-
aged by heavy rains last year.
Last year’s budget performance stood at 58 %
and the poor performance is attributed to the
Covid19 pandemic lockdowns.

the International Day of For-

The event which was initiated
by the Forestry Commission
was graced by Gutu Schools

who was the guest of honour.
Utsinda Christian is located

is a Mak Camp, a camping site
whose structures are mainly
made of wood.
Speaking at the event, Mu-
ganhu hailed Utsinda Col-

to the communities on the
importance of forests. He also
thanked the school for agree-
