The sex workers said that they were tired of
running battles with the Police and want Gov-
ernment to enact a clear law on sex work.
They added that sex work is a serious occupa-
tion like any other because many families and
children are dependent on it.
The workshop whose objectives were to bring
together stakeholders like Police and the health
sector and discuss problems afflicting sex
workers and to do capacity building was held
at Lambizi Lodge in Zvishavane on Tuesday last
week.
WoMandla project officer, Yeukai Esnath Gezah
facilitated the workshop.
WoMandla Foundation is an organisation
that deals with girls and women issues. It was
founded by Tadiwanashe Burukai-Matutu and
Tracy Burukai in 2019.
The sex workers declined to be named.
“We appeal to Government to legislate sex

The officers who spoke on condition of ano-

The Mirror contacted officers in Bikita and Gutu

said that they were paid on April 12, 2022.

HAPPY 42nd INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY ZIMBABWE
#Zim@42-Leaving no one and no place behind#
The Chairman, Dr Vincent Hungwe, on behalf of the Commissioners and
Secretariat of the Public Service Commission, the Defence Forces Service
Commission, the Police Service Commission, the Prisons and Correctional
Service Commission, and of the entire Public Service, wishes His Excellency Cde
Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa and all citizens of Zimbabwe a happy
42nd Independence Anniversary.
The tranquility, peace and stability we so enjoy in our lives today were made
possible by the sacrifices of gallant sons and daughters of Zimbabwe who gave
so selflessly of themselves to their nation through the protracted liberation
struggle that gave birth to our Independence in 1980. This we shall never forget.
Standing on the shoulders of those who went before us, and inspired by those
who are still here with us today, may we be propelled into action, love and
patriotism, to power our country toward the bright destiny they dreamed of as they
contended with harsh conditions and the constant reality of death.
With that realisation, Your Excellency, we continue to cherish your wise counsel
and guidance as you remind us of our legacy and as you lead us in endeavours
that take us ever closer to the attainment of Vision 2030. At the Public Service
Commission, we will strive to leave no one and no place behind in delivering on
our mandate to train, develop, deploy and manage Zimbabwe's human capital in
the public sector.
One way in which the Second Republic is paying tribute to those gallant sons and daughters of Zi mbabwe who won us our independence is in
transforming the work culture of public servants to make their outputs measurable and accountable. From the outset, Your Excellency, you made it clear
that all leaders and functionaries of Government must produce tangible results and outcomes for Zimbabwe's citizens, and that a practical way of
measuring performance must be devised. It is on account of that directive that senior officials of Government now sign contracts, on the basis of which
their performance is measured on an annual basis. It is such game-changing interventions that assure all of us that our country is going somewhere, and
somewhere good. And we, the beneficiaries, should work hard to meet the targets which patriotism, the unconditional, jealous and sacrificial love of our
country, sets for us.
Happy 42nd Independence Anniversary to all!
Let us stand tall and proud, all of us, "Leaving no one and no place behind".
MAKOROKOTO! AMHLOPHE! CONGRATULATIONS!

MASVINGO – Familiarity breeds contempt.
That may not be the case with former Ndara-
ma High School Development Association
(SDA) chairman, Ray Muzenda but after serving
for 18 years in that post, he had a disgraceful
exit on April 9, 2022 when parents booed and
refused to listen to his report.
The parents later voted him out of office.
Parents got even more agitated when the SDA
treasurer failed to attend the meeting to pre-
sent his report in person. They again refused to
listen to the treasurer’s report that was about
to be read by the SDA bursar.
Parents called for the suspension of the bursar.
The meeting attended by hundreds of parents
and graced by Ottilia Maramwidze, a Govern-
ment schools’ inspector, accused Muzenda of
abusing power and concealing transactions
from them.
The parents resolved to switch from a school
run by the SDA to one run by a School Devel-
opment Committee (SDC) which they observed
has a less powerful chairman in its constitu-
tion.
The move was endorsed by Maramwidze
and parents then resolved to hold elections
which saw Muzenda and his lieutenants being
booted out.
The new SDC chairperson is Enesia Chek-
acheke, the vice is Peter Chigaba, and the
secretary is Anacoleta Mwenezeka while the
two committee members are Robson Pauwa
and Wellington Muchemwa.
Maramwidze expressed her displeasure at the
long time that it took the parents to meet after
the COVID-19 lockdown. The school was run
by Muzenda for the last three years from 2019
until Saturday without calling any parents’
meeting.
Maramwidze however, urged parents to bury
the hatchet and focus on the future for the
good of the school and the children.
One contentious issue at the meeting was the
money borrowed by Muzenda from BancABC
allegedly without getting the green light from
the parents. The US$600 000 was used to
build a school laboratory.
