Board of Geologists Malaysia (BOG) is a regulator with the responsibility
to regulate the geological (geoscience) profession. BOG was
established in 2014 under the Geologists Act 2008 (Act 689) almost
6 years after the approval of the act by the Parliament of Malaysia.
Geologists (Geoscientists) is a regulated profession in Malaysia since
2014.
Geological Society of Malaysia (GSM) was established in 1967 as
a learned organization with the objective to advance geoscience
knowledge in Malaysia and the region.
Institute of Geology Malaysia (IGM) was established in 1989 as a
professional organization for practising geoscientists in Malaysia. IGM
focus to advance the geoscience practice in Malaysia.
Malaysian Geoscience Consultants and Services Association
(MyGeo) was established in 2020 is a trade organization that focuses
to advance and develop geoscience industry as well as geoscience-
related consultants and services.
All these 4 organisations formed the ‘Geoscience Pyramid’ in Malaysia
and have a collective responsibility to promote geoscience for society.
