How to edit guide

Logging on At East Norfolk we use :U drives, this mean all of the work you
save won’t be allocated to your college account, it will be saved
onto the computer you used. This means someone in your group
can carry on with the work without any issues just using the
same computer. Any account can access this folder.

When logging into Premier Pro for the first time after restarting
the computer you will need to type in your college email
(*****@eastnorfolk.ac.uk) after putting this email in it will load
up Premier Pro and it will show all of your most recent projects

SD card

To use an SD card you will need an adapter (card reader). A card reader
is used to transfer data from the SD card to the computer, we have to
use this because the pc doesn’t have a SD card slot.

Most SD cards carry 16gbs of storage which is enough to keep a lot of
1920 x 1080p footage.

When using the SD card in the pc on your files will show an extra
storage device in the Device and Drives section. When opening the
folder all of your recorded footage should be in there.

When using SD cards just copy the footage from the card and out it onto
your U: drive.

Appropriate folders When preparing for editing you need to put all of your
footage into individual folders organised by scene. These
files can be number to have them in the order you want but
it is not essential.

In Premier Pro you can make bins with the same names as
the folders to keep organised.

Shot logs

After organising all of your footage, you
need to assess which ones you are going
to use in your final video. You put them
all in order of which they are going to be
used in the final video.

You can also write a description on the
shot you are going to use. In this you can
describe the transitions and effects you
are using.

A shot log is also a very useful way of
reviewing footage to see which files will
go into the final edited video.

Setting up Premier Pro projects

At the top left corner of your
premier pro application, go to
file then new and then project.
This will create a new project

Name of your new project

Setting up Premier Pro sequences

Go to file > new sequence

Make sure the sequence settings are the
same as the footage you are using

Choose the name of
your sequence

Importing footage

When importing footage into Premier Pro you can go
into the media browser, right click and go to ‘import’
this will bring you to the file explorer. From here you
can import the folders you previously sorted by
scene.
You can also import each video file individually just so
you have all of the specific shots you are looking for.
When doing this by file it will also automatically
organise the bins.

Organizing bins

To make the process of making bins easier,
you should mirror them with your files so it is
as easy as possible.

Or if you import the files it will just make the
bins for you.

Importing creative common sounds

Download the audio you want to use (whether When finding common sounds it is important to
that’s music or sound effects). Find the file understand about Copyright. This is only if you
location and import them the same as you are publicly releasing your videos.
would videos. Or you can drag them straight Bensound is a great way to find Copyright free
into the media browser music, you won’t get in trouble when using any
of these sounds.

Titles and other graphics

At the top of your application there's a bar with 8 When you want to add graphics / effects you just
tabs. Go to the effects. drag the graphics onto the footage you want to apply
it to.
You can also use the graphics tab for titles
After this you go to effects control and you can
control everything. For example I added a camera
blur and in the effects controls a new tab opened
which allowed me to change the amount of blue on
the footage.

Titles are very simple to add. It’s the same
as the other effects but instead of
dragging them onto a clip you just drag it
onto your timeline above your other
footage. This will overlay the text above
the footage.

This is the effect it gives
