Lawthorn Primary School
Update
WB: Monday 22nd June 2020
Dear Parents/Carers,
I am sure you are all now aware of the Scottish
Government’s intention for all pupils to return to full time
education in August, provided that a set of criteria is met, including
infection rates and protection measures. At the moment we are
still planning for the blended model as laid out in the school
information booklet issued this week. As schools close on Friday
26th June at 1pm, any further correspondence will be provided by
North Ayrshire Council.
I would like to thank all our families for your kindness, support and
positivity during a very challenging time.
Farewell
This year we say goodbye to a several members of our Lawthorn
staff team. Miss Bell, Mrs. McGregor and Mrs. Purdie leave us at
the end of this term. They have been a welcome addition to our
team and we wish them the very best of luck in their future career.
We also say goodbye to two members of staff who have been part
of our Lawthorn family for many years. Miss Godfrey and Mrs.
Thomson are retiring from education and will be hugely missed at
Lawthorn.
Over the years Miss Godfrey has been a highly respected teacher
and has made a significant contribution to our school choir as well
as supporting the development of French throughout the school.
Her knowledge and expertise in these areas has been appreciated
by all. We wish her well in her retirement!
Mrs Thomson has been a classroom assistant at Lawthorn for 20
years. She has demonstrated commitment to all the children she
has worked with. We will truly miss her skill and expertise as well
as her amazing artwork and wall displays. We wish her well in her
new ventures with her grandchildren.
Finally I would like to say a fond farewell to all our P7 pupils. We
will miss you all so much but wish you the very best as you make
the leap into Secondary School. You have been a fantastic year
group and I am proud of each and every one of you!
Welcome
I am delighted to welcome a few new members to our staff team in

MacKenzie into P4A and Miss Irvine into P6A.
