The UPSC exam is one of the most challenging
civil service exams in India. Although various
candidates aim for it, many do not make it to the
final round – the personality test or interview. The
personality test or interview round consists of
panellists who ask various questions. not
necessary that the questions only concern the
subjects you had chosen in the UPSC Mains. Some
of the tricky IAS interview questions are as
follows:

1. What will you do if one fine morning you find your sister nude on the bed?
I will use a towel to cover my sister as I don’t want my little sister to catch a cold and fall
sick.
2. The name three children of a cat are January, February and March. What is the name
of the cat?

3. If two is referred to as the company and three is termed the crowd,
what will be 4 and 5?
4 and 5 will be 9.
4. What appears to be half an apple?
The second of the apple looks like half an apple.
5. An applicant is served coffee. Then, the interviewer might ask, what
is in front of you?
Infront of you is T. Here, the word ‘you’ is considered as alphabetic U.

6. Suppose you have three oranges and four apples in one hand
and four apples and three oranges on the other hand. What would
you have?
I would have very large hands to hold all the oranges and apples.
7. How to drop a raw egg into a concrete or cement floor without
cracking?

Concrete floors are tough to crack.
8. In which state is the Bay of Bengal?
The Bay of Bengal is in a liquid state.
9. What happens when a red stone is thrown on a
blue sea?
The stone will become wet, and it will eventually sink.
10. How will you lift an elephant with one hand?
An elephant with one hand does not exist. Therefore,
there is no question of lifting any.
