I hope you like my blog! 10th January Today, I went skiing with my family at Whistler ski place near Vancouver. I love skiing – we go every year! My favorite ski run is called the Ice Monster – it’s really fast and the views are amazing! There are lots of things you can do in Canada. It's a really fun place, with many exciting activities to try! I never rode in a hot-air balloon or traveled to another country before. I thought hot-air balloons were really quiet, but they aren't – the fire is really loud and it's hot, too! 1st September It's my 15th birthday and we're in Toronto, Ontario! I wanted to do something special, so we did the 'Edge Walk' around the top of the CN Tower. It's the tallest building in the city – it's 553 meters high! We had to wear a special coat, jacket, and gloves and practice with an instructor. Then we tied to a bar and walked around the outside of the building. We were 350 meters above the ground! I went with my best friend, Charlene. It was scary, but we loved it. It's the most exciting experience I've ever had! 16

UNIT 6: HOW IS IT MADE? LISTENING ACTIVITY Jeans : From Cotton to Closet Do you know where your jeans come from? Let me tell you; it's an exciting journey! First, farmers grow a plant called cotton. Cotton grows in warm places where the sun shines a lot. It takes many months for the cotton to be ready. When it's time, big machines go to the fields and pick the cotton. Next, the cotton goes to a factory. Here, people clean it and twist it into long threads. These threads are called yarn. This yarn is very strong and can be used to make clothes. Then, people dye the yarn blue to make it look nice. Blue is the color we usually see jeans in. After the yarn is blue, they weave it into a strong cloth. This cloth is called denim. Now, the denim is almost ready to become jeans. Workers cut the denim and sew it to make jeans. Jeans have legs, pockets, and zippers. Sometimes, people like to make their jeans soft. They wash the jeans with stones. This is called stonewashing. It also can make the jeans light blue. After that, the jeans are packed and sent to stores all over the world. People buy them and wear them. A lot of people in the USA like to wear jeans. If you have old jeans, don't throw them away. You can give them to friends or take them to a shop that gives clothes to people who need them. Some people even make new things from old jeans, like bags or toys. Remember, jeans are special.
