INTRODUCTION



Dear HUCTO Committee Members

First of all we would like to thank you for taking the time to consider our proposal and
trust that your organization will be able to take tourism in uMngeni forward in leaps and
bounds. With the right partners backing you, we believe all your endeavors are possible,
provided the necessary structures and support systems are in place.
We also believe in the potential tourism has to uplift uMngeni and all its communities

and wish to see it harnessing its strengths and opportunity to become a hub for tourism
in KwaZulu-Natal and as well as being seen as a huge asset to stakeholders in uMngeni.
Networkz Business Online (Pty) Ltd (Networkz) would love to play a critical role in
making this dream a reality.


ABOUT US



Networkz’ passion and mission statement is always been assisting businesses online
and from its humble beginnings in 2009, has been doing so, initially in the form of a free

business networking platform (A mix between Facebook Pages and Salesforce, before
either of them existed). We later added a business directory which allowed businesses
to have an online presence even if they did not have a website, but allowed for a link to
their business’ website, if they did have one.
In our passion to assist businesses online we began offering website design and later
offered targeted advertising and can now offer a Comprehensive Online Marketing

Strategy tailor-made to suit each individual business/organisation’s needs. We have
also recently had a local graphic and website designer, with over 10 years’ experience,
join us as our Chief Designer and are extremely pleased to be able to offer top class
websites and online offerings at a fraction of the market price.

WHAT’S IN A WEBSITE?


HUCTO needs a website that is vibrant, attractive, interactive and informative while remaining
user-friendly. More than anything else, the website needs to sell the experience and the
destination. This is a tall order, but not impossible. We believe Networkz has the capacity to
make this possible while offering great value for money.
So what does Howick and your surrounding areas have to offer?


Strengths & Opportunities

uMngeni offers an internationally recognised monument, namely, the Mandela Capture Site,
and has rich history dating back to the 1840’s and now offers popular events such as the Midmar
Mile & Hilton Art in the Park, etc.. The Howick & Karkloof Falls, Midmar Dam and the Midmar
Nature Reserve are also huge draw cards, as well as the “Zulu Mpophomeni Tourism
Experience” in the local Mpophomeni township, the Karkloof Canopy Tours, mountain biking,
off-road adventure, hiking, camping, running, fishing, bird watching, stunning wedding venues,
luxury accommodation & conference centers. It is imperative that all these attractions are
showcased on the HUCTO website to inform and attract tourists to visit this amazing area. As
you are aware this is the key function of a tourism organization.
More and more people are searching online for attractions, events and contact numbers before
they even book their plane ticket, climb on the plane or into their vehicles. Many of these searches
are done through mobile devices and HUCTO needs to capitalize on this. With so much to offer,
HUCTO needs to stand out from the crowd and draw people into the area. We therefore suggest
Incorporating the HUCTO Newsletter, a Promotional video on YouTube linked to the website,
Facebook, Instagram and Pintrest (we are able to create and maintain the said accounts for
HUCTO if required).

Networkz therefore proposes to:



 Upgrade the look and feel of the current website and database.
 Add a booking system – which will create a passive “fundraiser” for the association.
 Create an events portal and calendar showcasing past, present, future and annual
events happening in and around the area.
 Create a promotional video on YouTube and link it to the website, Facebook Page and
Intagram.
 Include a central online catalogue for those members who offer products and services.
 Setup advertising space on the landing page for local businesses, which will also bring
in additional funding for the association.

 Offer a mobile friendly site/mobile app as we have noticed the rapid migration and
increase in the use of mobile phones and tablets to browse and search the internet. This
equates to over 6 million active mobile users (stats SA).
 Design four reverts (different design options) for you to choose from for your tailor-
made website.

We will also include a free training session for four tourism officials on the use of the website
in the Tourism Office as a tool to assist them with tourism queries and bookings.
