Primary Purpose

Provides auditing services by reviewing, coding, calculating, verifying,
and approving Worker’s Compensation and General Liability Audits in
accordance with company, NCCI, WCRB, and ISO guidelines and
regulations.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

(Other duties may be assigned)

 Prepares voluntary audit worksheets by examining the insured's
operations, financial records, and employee duties; validates tax
and claims data; reviews the previous audit worksheets.

 Applies manual rules to calculate and classify the actual
exposures based on all facts.

 Documents audit findings to prepare the audit for processing to
determine if an additional premium or return premium will be
established.

 Reviews and releases new assignments for voluntary audits and
fee companies, ensuring information on order ticket is correct.

 Reviews completed fee company audits by verifying correct
payroll amounts and classification codes are assigned; analyzes
the description of operations; identifies and reconciles additional
items as necessary.

 Resolves disputed audits and works with internal and external
collections as necessary; occasionally attends hearings and
testifies in court proceedings; prepares relevant information.

 Collects and researches necessary information by contacting fee
companies, insureds, or agents as applicable; consults with
Commercial Underwriting when necessary.

 Ensures departmental accuracy by researching, responding to,
and completing Unit Stat error corrections; identifies problem
causes and recommends solutions.

 Resolves requests for audit revisions by researching information
and approving requests as appropriate.

 Ensures customer service by answering audit-related questions
from underwriters, billing, processing, agents, and insureds.

 Provides call center support when phone calls are escalated to a
higher level of technical expertise.

 Prepares non-productive audits for processing by reviewing policy
information and estimating the auditable exposure and
applicable.

 Contributes to overall Premium Audit functions by assisting the
manager on projects with accuracy and timeliness.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform
each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are
representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.

Required:

 Associate’s degree in accounting (or related field) or 5+ years of
significant insurance experience as deemed appropriate by
management.

 Strong business math skills (experience with calculating
percentages, adding and subtracting negative and positive
values, sliding decimals, credits and debits on invoices,
computing fractions).

Preferred:

 Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or related field.

 3+ year of prior premium audit, underwriting, or rating experience.

 Completion of Program in General Insurance and/or Associate in
Premium Auditing designations.

 Continuing coursework in accounting, insurance and/or premium
auditing.

Supervisory Responsibilities

 None.

Working Conditions and Environment

 Work is performed at the corporate location, with an office setting,
indoor and climate-controlled.

Physical Demands

 Sitting for long periods of time.
 Light (up to 10 lbs.) lifting occurs frequently.
