       It is very hard,
       To make it last.
       It is so lovely,
       Sweet and licky.
       But when it drips,

Let’s Read
Do you look after trees and plants? Have you ever planted a tree ? Come, let’s
read this story about trees.
Anuj’s father was a forest officer. He used to live in the forest while on duty.
One day he took Anuj with him to the forest guest house.
Anuj requested his father to take him around the forest and his father agreed.
They went into the forest in a jeep.
While driving through the forest, his father showed him different wild
animals. To their surprise, they saw some people cutting trees in the forest.
Anuj’s father rushed to them and said, “If you don’t stop cutting the trees,
I will arrest you.”
The people became frightened and ran away.
Anuj then asked his father, “Why didn’t you allow them to cut the trees? Can’t
they take wood for their living ?”
                                                                                                                97
His father said,
“These forests
are our country’s
wealth. They are
very useful to us.”
Trees give us
fresh air. They
help in bringing
rain. Trees give
shade and shelter
not only to
human beings but
also to animals.
We get different
things from trees like wood, gum, medicines, fruits, spices, oils, tea etc.”
He further said, “Anuj, if you have
                                 understood the value of trees,promise
me that you will plant a sapling and
                                 take care of it.”
“Yes, Dad. I will definitely do that,”
                                 replied Anuj.
Everybody should take a pledge not to
                                 cut down trees.
