Three Leg Relay Race

Key skills: Running, teamwork, listening
Equipment: One strap, stopwatch
Space Required: Full court
Time needed: Unlimited
Rules: The students will get into two partners and tie the inside
legs together. The teacher will designate a starting line and
finish line to see how fast the pairs will get from point A and
point B.

Kickback

Key skills: teamwork, listening
Equipment: Ball
Space Required: Half court
Time needed: No limit
Rules: The students will get into two groups in a line. There is
one ball. Each line has to kick the ball with their legs only back
and forth.

Red Rover

Key skills: Running, teamwork, listening
Equipment: None
Space Required: Full court
Time needed: Unlimited
Rules: Two groups stand in parallel lines facing each other.
Each line will hold hands. One line declares one person they
would like to send over yelling “red rover, red rover, send
jasmine over.” The designated person Jasmin makes a run to the
line. If she can’t break the line and get two people to stop

holding hands, the team that held strong calls a person from the
opposing line to their chain. If they can’t, they now join that
line. Whichever line is down to one person first loses.

Floor is Lava

Key skills: Teamwork, listening, running
Equipment: Hula hoops
Space Required: Full court
Time needed: Unlimited
Rules: The players will spread out in the gym. The players will
need to hop into the hula hoops on the ground when the leader
yells “the floor is lava”. There is limited of two players per
game. In each round they leader will remove a hula hoop after
the game. Don’t touch the floor/ground, which is lava.

Simon Says

Key skills: Teamwork, listening, running, walking
Equipment: None
Space Required: Full court
Time needed: Unlimited
Rules: One person is designated Simon, the others are the
players. Standing in front of the group, Simon tells players what
they must do. However, the players must only obey commands
that begin with the words “Simon Says.” If Simon says,
“Simon says touch your nose,” then players must touch their
nose.

Leap Frog

Key skills: Teamwork, listening,
Equipment: None
Space Required: Full court
Time needed: Unlimited
Rules: The players can simply crouch on the floor tucking in
their head and feet. The second player runs up to the
crouched child in front, placing their hands on their back and
leaping over like a frog flying through the air, straddling their
legs wide apart on each side.

Red Light, Green Light

Key skills: Teamwork, listening, running, walking
Equipment: None
Space Required: Full court
Time needed: Unlimited
Rules: The other players try to get nearer to him or her, but they
are only allowed to move forward when the child says 'green
light' and must stop moving forward when he or she says 'red
light' and turns round quickly to try and see anyone who is still
moving.

Kick the Can

Key skills: Teamwork, listening, running, walking
Equipment: Ball
Space Required: Full court
Time needed: Unlimited
Rules: One person is charged with protecting a can (or
whatever) while other participants attempt to run up and knock it
over. The catch? The kickers hide and join the protectors’ team
if tagged. Then the hider and the seeker race back to the can. If
the seeker arrives first, the hider is in jail. If the hider gets there
first, they must kick the can.

Stand Off

Key skills: Teamwork, listening
Equipment: None
Space Required: Full court
Time needed: Unlimited
Rules: Two people stand directly in front of each other. They
hold out their hands and try to push each other over while
keeping their own feet planted. Whoever moves their feet
first loses. In some cases, players can’t push anything other
than their opponent’s hands, but that’s optional.

Duck-Duck-Goose

Key skills: Teamwork, listening, walking, running
Equipment: None
Space Required: Half court
Time needed: Unlimited
Rules: All the players, except the first person who is It, sit in a
circle. It walks around the circle, tapping each player on the
head, saying “duck” each time until he decides to tap someone
and say “goose.” That person becomes the goose and runs after
It, trying to tag him before It can take his seat.

Officer Orders

Key skills: Teamwork, listening, walking, running
Equipment: None
Space Required: Half court
Time needed: Unlimited
Rules: You have one person to be the leader or "Officer". He has
to call out different actions but is limited to some (or all) of the
following actions to call out. Pick and choose the best actions
for your group. Or make up your own and share them in the
comments.

Dodge Ball

Key skills: Teamwork, running
Equipment: Dodgeballs
Space Required: Full court
Time needed: Unlimited
Rules: The class will get into two teams. The game is played
until all members of one team have been eliminated. The first
team to knock out all of its opponents is the winner.
