4 FAMILY SHOPPING TRIP Last Sunday morning, my family and I went shopping. My father, Haji Ali drove his blue car and my mother, Hjh Nina sat next to him. My sister, Rina and I were sitting at the back. “Which shop are we going?” asked Rina. “We are going to Hua Ho Yayasan,” replied my mother. Our first stop was at the clothing section. My father needed a new jacket for work. He choose a gray jacket to match his gray pants. My sister had found a pink dress for herself while I was trying a pair of jeans. My mother did not buy anything for herself. “The total is one hundred and twenty-five dollars,” said the cashier. I was surprised that our clothes were that expensive. The cashier packed our clothes in a paper bag. I took the bag from the counter while my father was paying our purchase. Next, we went to the grocery‟s sections. This was my mother‟s favourite section. She handed a long list of groceries to my father. She asked my father to look for things from the list while she shopped at the fresh meat and vegetables sections. “Let‟s get a trolley,” said my father. He knew I loved pushing the trolley around. We spent nearly an hour shopping the groceries. My sister and I bought a box of cereal for our breakfast. It was nearly one o‟clock when we had our lunch. My father took us to the food court at the basement area. There were several food vendors available. I loved their Kolomee so I ordered it for myself. We talked about our shopping trip while waiting for our food to arrive.

5 “Do you like grocery shopping?” asked Mother. “I don‟t like the fresh meat section, they are smelly!” replied Rina. My parents laughed at her. Finally, we head back to our car. We loaded our purchases into the car boot. It was nearly full. My sister was sleeping during our drive home. As for me, I sang my favourite song with my father all the way home.

11 Last year, Muhammad Hadi celebrated Hari Raya Aidilfitri with his family in a new house. They were cleaning the house. They cleaned inside and outside the house. Muhammad Hadi was cleaning the window and father was sweeping away the dry leaves around the house. “Let‟s rest after we clean this part,” said his father. Hadi‟s mother and sister, Aina were baking cookies for the celebration. During Hari Raya, their parents‟ family members would come for a house visit. Therefore, they must prepare lots of biscuits to serve. “The kitchen smells heavenly,” said Aina to her mother. Then, it was the announcement night. They were very excited, the new moon was sighted. Hadi and Aina rushed to their room to get their fireworks. Their father had lit a candle for them to use. They were having so much fun. “Don‟t forget to extinguish and throw the sticks in the trash can,” warned their father. On the next day, Hadi and his father went to pray at the nearby mosque. They met and greeted their neighbours who were at the mosque. After that, they went to the graveyard to recite “Surah Yassin” to their family who had passed away. They did bit of cleaning before they leave. Finally, they went back home. Hadi and Aina asked for forgiveness from their parents. They shook and kissed their parents hand. Hari Raya is the day where we seek forgiveness from one another.
