Financial strategies. Betty Bruce Hoddy 1921-2019
One-on-one advice.
Our Mom, Betty Bruce Hoddy passed
Michael R Murphy, CFP® away this last year at the age
Financial Advisor of ninety-seven. Everyone loved
Momo. She lived life with
12020 Donner Pass Rd Suite 102 cheerfulness and always put her
Truckee, CA 96161
530-587-2672 family first. She and her husband
Lee Jackson Hoddy raised four boys,
MKT-5894I-A Member SIPC and nurtured numerous grandchildren,

daughters-in-law and friends.
She was loved by all for her humor, selflessness, and good nature. I never
saw her angry. Not once. Her family and friends were the number one priority
in her life. When her husband preceeded her in death after sixty plus years of
marriage, her only concern was that we honor his memory. In her final years, when
health and memory deprived her of well being, we would ask,“How are you, Momo?”
She would always say “ I feel fine ”though, we knew better. She was more

concerned with not being a burden to others.

In a military family that moved often, our home became the gathering place
for everyone in the neighborhood. Momo was kind, gentle and ready to
prepare something special for anyone that dropped in at a moment's notice. One
time, a child had stopped breathing in the neighbor's pool. The child's Mom rushed her
son over to our house, and my mom brought him back to life. She was the type

of person that people turned to for help.

When she dropped the Thanksgiving turkey on the floor, all we could
do was laugh. Laughter was very important to her. Whenever our Dad and
her animal trainer son brought home yet another rescue animal (including raccoons,
coyotes, birds of prey, boa constrictors, iguanas, owls, porcupines and many more
creatures), she took it all in stride. They all became members of the family. When
she fell and knocked out all her front teeth, rattled because her husband
and our Dad had suddenly fallen ill, she gathered up her teeth off the ground,
and said“It doesn’t hurt.” That was just like her– never complained, and
never made a fuss. So, thank you Momo. We honor your memory with love

and grace and miss you more than words can say.

Theatre arts-related organizations producing
(CATS) some 1,000 events a year–many with
a long history. Among these
organizations is The Center for the
Arts which provides a diverse array of
programming featuring nationally rec-
ognized artists, as well as local talent.

Over the years Truckee has attracted
and grown a vibrant artistic
community. This has resulted in over
a dozen art galleries and exhibition
spaces, created year-round cultural
events and inspired many public
art pieces.

Music In The Mountains (MIM) Nevada County has a cultural
tradition. As early as 1852, Nevada
City, Grass Valley and Rough & Ready
had theatres. Some of the best
entertainers of the time graced their
stages. By the late 1880s, Grass Valley
had an opera house. And don’t
forget the Nevada Theatre which
opened in 1865 and is still going
strong in Nevada City.

Lotta Two very talented women had
Crabtree ties to Nevada County. Lotta
Crabtree was the wealthiest
and most beloved American
entertainer in the late 1880s.
At age five, she moved to Grass
Valley where her talents were
cultivated.

Emma Nevada was born in the
county in 1859 and spent her
early years in Nevada City where
she made her singing debut at
age three. She went on to become a
famous operatic soprano spending
much of her 30 year career
touring Europe.
