1 If you’ve ever been to a cooking competition or have watched cooking competitions on TV, you may wonder what it’s like to be part of it. Well, I had the chance to give it a try myself and I’m going to share my experience with you. The Master Chef Battle is a competition that brings students, teachers and parents from the schools in Meradong to compete in cooking skills. My First Ever Cooking Competition By Lee Xiu Mie MASTER CHEF BATTLE DATE : 26TH JULY 2019 TIME : 6:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. VENUE : SMK TONG HUA THEME : WHEN ENGLISH IS OUR DISH COOKING DURATON : 90 MINUTES GROUP TARGET : 1 STUDENT 1 PARENT 1 NON-ENGLISH TEACHER
2 As a first step, we set up our booth. I helped my mum and my teacher, Madam Ling, to put the table cloth on the table. Next, we arranged the ingredients on the table. After the opening ceremony, we started cooking fish curry. I helped to wash and cut the vegetables. I also tried to cook with my mum’s guidance. We had to keep in mind our timing. 90 minutes is plenty of time, but we had to make sure that the fish curry wasn’t overcooked and that we had enough time to make the small plates, which are the ones the judges would taste. Finally we did our best to make an appealing and attracting dish. After a while, the judges came to our booth and stopped by for a taste. I introduced our dish and answered the questions asked by the judges. How did we do in the competition? Well, we were not the TOP 5 but not bad for a first try. 3 Ingredients: Fish Oil Curry leaves Onions Garlic Methods: Firstly, fry the fish until half cooked. Secondly, pour some oil into the wok. When the oil is hot, put in the curry leaves, onions, garlic, ginger and lemon grass to fry. After frying the ingredients until they turn fragrant, add in some water and wait until it boils. Then, put in 2 packets of curry sauce, sliced potatoes, tomatoes and dried bean curd. After that, put in the half cooked fish and cook until the fish becomes soft. On July 11th, Athletics Club of SJKC Nang Hua held track and field race. The track and field events are 100m sprints, long jump and shot put. Track and Field Race 100m Sprints 1 st Place: Siaw Yang Fong 2 nd Place: Siaw Chy Ling 3 rd Place: Nur Shafika binti Dilah 4 th Place: Lee Xiu Mie RESULTS S 7 11th JULY 2019 THURSDAY Shot Put 1 st Place: Siaw Chy Ling 2 nd Place: Siaw Yang Fong 3 rd Place: Nur Shafika binti Dilah 4 th Place: Lee Xiu Mie Long Jump 1 st Place: Siaw Yang Fong 2 nd Place: Siaw Chy Ling 3 rd Place: Nur Shafika binti Dilah 4 th Place: Lee Xiu Mie As a result, Siaw Yang Fong was chosen to represent SJKC Nang Hua at the track and field race (district level) in 100m sprints and long jump.
