P a g e 215 | 239 6.2b INVITATIONS FROM INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTIONS & INDUSTRY The flipped classroom teaching and learning strategy that I have conducted over the years started to show its impact and gaining the trust from many individuals, institutions, and organizations. They have gained confidence with flipped classroom strategy and could clearly see the impact. Starting from 2018 onwards, I have started to receive invitations from universities outside Malaysia to conduct trainings, workshops, and seminars on flipped classroom. Some institutions are interested with the implementation of flipped classroom. I took this as a positive impact coming from my successful implementation of flipped classroom after many years. The impactful implementation of flipped classroom is appreciated and valued by many parties at national and international levels. I am sharing my flipped classroom trainings, seminars, and workshops for some of the industry in Malaysia and a few overseas universities. The sharing that is given to many universities in Malaysia is shared in Section 6. Flipped Classroom conducted at international universities: At SaiRam Institute of Management Studies, India – the 2 weeks course is to introduce flipped classroom at the institution to lecturers and students. Both lecturers and students were demonstrated with how flipped classroom pedagogy is conducted with sharing of experience throughout the session.
P a g e 216 | 239 ➢ I was invited to be one of the speakers at ICT-Notts 2019 to share about Flipped Classroom Technology for education. It was attended by educators around Indonesia as well as technology providers such as IBM and more. The event was held for 3 days at the Tegal Central Java, Indonesia. ➢ Polytechnic Muhammadiyah, Indonesia has also invited me to provide facilitation on flipped classroom teaching and learning to the educators at the institution. It was for polytechnic educators, lecturers, and teachers. This event was conducted in Semarang, Indonesia. ➢ A group of us was invited to share experiences at the Workshop on Personalized Learning Technologies in conjunction with the Conference on Online Teaching for Mobile Education by the University of Alcala, Spain. ➢ This is where I shared about flipped classroom tools and technologies to the audience around the world https://ot4me.web.uah.es/workshop-details-1.html
P a g e 217 | 239 Sharing about Flipped Classroom with the Industry ➢ INSTEP – Petronas Training Center in Batu Rakit Terengganu is also interested to conduct Flipped Classroom. Therefore, I was called to deliver a short course for Flipped Classroom training in 2018. Example of feedback and request from participants that I often asked from as to improve future flipped class training sessions: ➢ Sample of participants feedback collected after 1st day of flipped classroom training that leads to more engaging flipped learning the next day ➢ Session conducted on 9/9/2020 with participants from UNITEN ➢ Some of the tools that is taught to participants to start creating teaching content. ➢ Participants will rate my flip classroom training at the end of each session for improvement.
P a g e 218 | 239 The flipped classroom for future trainings conducted with industry – A Training provider. Training providers has started to transform the way their trainings are conducted. They wanted to change from the lecture type to flipped classroom type. Embracing digitalization, I have been called to deliver workshops on how Virtual Reality (VR) can be used for learning among the matured learners as part of flipped classroom. The use of VR is for before class. Matured learners are expected to learn about the learning materials before coming for trainings using the Virtual Reality application. The VR environment and materials for learning is to be viewed using a VR headset as shown in the figure below. This is to make the learning preparation before class interesting, engaging, real and fun. I take these appointments and invitations seriously and will give my best to be part of the team that transform our education. My hope is to see a better Malaysia in education so that our future generation will get the best education that is well respected by the nation and internationally. In 2014 when I came back from my PhD studies, I started holding a role as the Co-chairman of the Computer and Information Sciences Department’s Curriculum Development and Revise Committee. This is where I started to look into ways curriculum delivery could be improved to be better.

The aim of CETaL at that point in time was to be the catalyst that encourage UTP’s academicians to be innovative in designing flexible models of learning through educational and action research, mobile technologies, and online learning.
P a g e 227 | 239 In 2015, I was appointed as one of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) grant reviewers. The role includes reviewing and advising SoTL grant applications submitted by academicians. In 2015, I was re-appointed as one of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) grant reviewers. It has been interesting to improve UTP’s education delivery through SoTL grants.
P a g e 228 | 239 In 2016, I was appointed to be part of the Effective Education Delivery taskforce to evaluate and review deserving recipients for the Effective Education Delivery Award in conjunction of UTP Quality Day. In 2017, I was appointed as one of the founding members of UTP’s Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETaL). The role is to drive the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) cluster and to deliver talks, workshops, and seminars to advance innovation in teaching and learning.
