About the Author

M r . E d w a r d s is a diversified
business leader. He has run com-
panies, started companies, bought
companies, integrated companies
and sold companies. He has served
as a Director or Trustee for numerous
civic and business organizations.

Mr. Edwards graduated from
Colgate University. He attended Harvard University’s
Executive Leadership Program as a Danforth Fellow.

After receiving his MBA from Washington University’s
Olin Graduate School of Business, Mr. Edwards spent the
first fifteen years of his career managing consumer product
business units for major corporations such as General Mills,
Pillsbury and INTERCO.

In 1989, he and a group of partners acquired The Ansehl
Company from Weyerhaeuser Corporation. Ansehl was a lead-
ing manufacturer/marketer of private-label health and beauty
care products sold through mass merchandisers, chain drug
stores, and supermarkets. Mr. Edwards served as President/

CEO of Ansehl until December 2000 when he sold the com-
pany to a strategic buyer.

Since the sale of Ansehl, Mr. Edwards has focused his
professional activities on the sourcing and optimization of
human capital. In 2002, he joined a top-five executive search
firm as an Executive Vice President. Believing that there was
a better approach to executive search, in 2004 he started
his own retained executive search firm, Edwards Executive
Search, continuing to serve a national client base in plac-
ing C-level and other key executives. He currently serves
as Managing Partner of Edwards Executive Search (www.
edwards-search.com) and has successfully placed CEOs,
CFOs, General Counsels, VPs of Sales/Marketing, Operations,
Finance, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and
Crisis Managers, among others.

Mr. Edwards’ business background is unique for an execu-
tive recruiter. As a former CEO and multi-company Director,
he understands, and has experienced firsthand, the value of
effective talent acquisition, or conversely the cost and disrup-
tion of executive underperformance and turnover due to a less-
than-optimal executive hire. He believes that the effectiveness
of talent acquisition can be significantly improved with a thor-
ough, systematic, and professional hiring process. He has been
trained and designated as a Master Career Coach and is cer-
tified in the application and interpretation of several leading
scientific selection and development assessment tools. He has
earned Black Belts in both Lean/Six Sigma and Tae Kwon Do.
