Looking at the broad acceptance and understanding that this language has garnered worldwide, be it a student's pursuit of education, future career or as simple as his or her inclusion within society, the vital role English plays cannot be negated. To inculcate love for this beautiful language English Language Fest 2022-2023 was organised at Delhi Public School Jodhpur on 25 November 2022. English Language Quiz and Group Discussion were highlights of the event. Group Discussion was conducted in two rounds – Elimination Round and Final Round. Elimination round was organised on 11 November 2022 in which 32 students from eight houses participated in the event. 11 students qualified for the Final Round which was organised on 25 November 2022. The topic of final round Inter House Group Discussion was ‘The Paradigms of Peace and Development Cannot Exist Today’. Nov 28, 2022 8:18:36am Timeline photos Timeline photos Timeline photos Timeline photos Timeline photos Timeline photos 5 students of classes VI - IX participated in a state level on spot painting competition organised by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (Government of India) at Bhagwant Singh Mehta Auditorium (OTS), Jaipur on 25 November 2022. The students were divided into two groups, Group A-5th to 7th and Group B-8th to 10th. Lubishna Chouhan (VI-F), Milan Hiranandani (VII-C) and Anwesh Das (VII-C) participated in group A. Abhinna Das (IX-B) and Srishti Hiranandani (IX-J) participated in group B and qualified for the state level on spot painting competition. The topics of the competition were: 1. We are pro-planet people 2. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle The students created their master pieces on one of the above two topics in two hours. The results of the competition was declared on the same day. Delhi Public School Jodhpur bagged three positions. Group A: Anwesh Das- 1st position (certificate + Rs. 50,000) Milan Hiranandani- consolation prize (certificate + Rs. 7,500) Group B: Abhinna Das- 1st position (certificate + Rs. 50,000) All the participating students received a cash prize of Rs 2000 and gifts. By virtue of their exemplary creative genius Abhinna and Anwesh were selected for the national-level on the spot painting competition which will be held at Delhi on 12 December 2022. Then an article enlightening the audience with important information on Dr. Ambedkar and the objectives and structure of Indian constitution was presented. Moulik Lodha and Tanishh Doval of Delhi Public School Jodhpur participated in Regional Science & Teaching Aid Competition organised by Science & Technology Department, Regional Office Jodhpur on 23 November 2023. Their project ‘Contact Less UV Sterilization’ was declared the best entry in the district. ‘Project CLUS’ uses UV-C light to kill germs in a room. It would prove extremely beneficial for hospitals, shops, homes etc. A total of 20 projects from 10 different city schools were exhibited. Moulik Lodha and Tanishh Doval received the winner’s trophy, a certificate and a cash prize of rupees 400 each. The Director and Principal Mr B S Yadav congratulated the winners and stated that science exhibitions provides a platform for the students to use their scientific knowledge to make the best invention. The joy got doubled when the children did this noble job by making beautiful bags using sponge dabbing. The idea was to stop the use of polybags and heal mother earth and at the same time produce something to benefit the underprivileged. Each class had a different design of stencil. There were tulips, marigolds,fishes ,birds etc.It took almost 15 days for a class to make the bags.The children were eagerly waiting for the PTM to take place so that they could proudly show what they had designed.And on 1st of October 2022,the wait was over.The parents were overwhelmed to see the masterpieces created by their children.They were surprised to see how the tiny tots were engaged to bring out the best.They wholeheartedly appreciated the efforts of the teachers and generously donated. The teachers of the school also enthusiastically contributed in this virtuous cause. The money collected was donated in 'Apna Ghar Ashram', 'Kanhaiya Gaushala' and 'Dog Home Foundation'. To make it special students of Class Nursery B conducted a beautiful assembly where in mother hen introduced various yellow fruits, flowers ,insects etc to her chicks Yellu and Pillu.The yellow objects came one by one and described their characteristics.For example the sunflower told that it moves its face towards the sun.The banana encouraged everyone to eat it so that their bones become stronger.The acting skills of the tiny tots were worth praising. Rhymes ' Dekho kitna aam rasila...' and Yellow colour -Yellow colour where are you..' were recited in a very synchronized way.The assembly ended with the dance performance on a music piece . In the classes fork printing with yellow poster colour was conducted.To reinforce, the audience was asked to search for yellow eatables in the kitchen . To kindle up their curiosity and the love for reading, an Inter class Hindi Story Telling Competition was organised on 29th November, 2022 for the students of class III. A preliminary round was conducted in the classes and as per criteria two children per section were selected. The students were judged on different parameters like selection of story, expression and voice modulation, pronunciation and overall performance. The event witnessed brilliant story sessions varying from Akbar Birbal to dadi nani ki kahaniya. The students participated with zeal and enthusiasm and impressed the audience with their confidence. This activity helped the students to inculcate good moral values and enhance their vocabulary as well as speaking skills. The competition was judged by a panel of 3 judges Ms Purnima Rajvi, Ms Prem Rathore and Ms Marium Bano. Everyone lauded the efforts put in by the participants. The winners were a. The event promoted ‘Maker-space’ mindsets allowing collaborative ideation among students, educators, and facilitators to generate simple yet thinking-based solutions to complex problems. The contestants had to participate in any 1 out of 4 categories and select a theme for their team. The different categories for the competitions were - Film Making, Photography, Poster Making, and Fashion Designing. Innovation and entrepreneurship in the education system play an important role in shaping attitudes, skills, and culture in the economy. Innovation, entrepreneurship and the educational system can bring in an amalgamation of creativity, experiential learning, skill building, and most importantly a shift in the mindset of the people. To promote innovation and entrepreneurship, Delhi Public School Jodhpur organised DPSJ Whizzkid Competition on 8th December 2022. The event commenced with the welcome of the esteemed judges - Ms Sejal Munot Professional Chef and the founder of cloud kitchen, Vintage Rasa; Mr Priyank Gupta, Chartered Accountant, Entrepreneur - Traditional Handicraft Centre Jodhpur; Mr Shrikul Lodha, Head of Business Development in UMAX Polymer Group Of Companies. The two preliminary rounds of Whizzkids were organized in November in which 25 teams were adjudged based on sustainable development goals, prototypes, product descriptions, working of ideas, innovation, and feasibility. After a tough battle of ideas, the top eight teams grappled and presented their innovative start-ups. Their business ideas are as follows: Team A – RENTEEZ would make life easier for people who want anything for a day or two. They would be able to rent it from the application. Team E - HOLDEASE brought out the idea of a collapsible hanger which would be more sustainable and powerful than the commonplace hanger. Team F - KARIGHAR worked on making things easier for the unemployed labourers by helping them to search for profitable employment. Team G – DAILYEAZE worked on making the lives of consumers easy by letting them know where and how far a specific product would be available in the local markets. Team H – THE HEALTHY CHEF worked on providing organic food in edible plates and cutleries at competitive rates. Following this, the result of the competition was announced. The top three teams were conferred with medals by the Director and Principal and the three judges. The students were made familiar to the remarkable diversity, ancient traditions, artistic heritage, magnificent landscapes and culinary creations prevailing in the country. The activities aimed at providing maximum exposure to children regarding the history and culture of India. Each section of classes IV to VIII was allotted with a different state or an Union Territory. Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, West Bengal, Harayana, Telangana, Goa, Kerala, Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab. The students explored about the vivid cultures of the individual states and displayed the same via power point presentations and collages made by them. These presentations depicted the famous festivals, eminent personalities, poets, food, costumes, music, dance, monuments of historical importance, language, famous places and wildlife sanctuaries. The students involved themselves into the insightful discussions which expanded their horizons of knowledge and augmented it to the next level. The lunch time was roistered relishing the homemade sumptuous and mouth-watering delicacies with their classmates. The celebration culminated with the presentation of foot tapping folk dances of different states performed by the enthusiastic dancers. Instead of forcing the kids to eat vegetables and fruits, it is of more importance that they understand the benefits of healthy food and harmful effects of junk food. Both the candidates promoted themselves among the children and did class to class campaigning. They also attended an on going assembly and attracted the children by showcasing their qualities. The children were elated and were found discussing with friends and each tried to convince the other. They were also seen asking questions to the candidates to satisfy their queries. The idea behind the whole activity was that children learn to evaluate, think critically and develop opinion. A polling booth was setup where the students enthusiastically voted and Healthy Ram emerged victorious. The updates of the each day were passed to the parents through a video *“ DPS news channel” * which covered all the events of the day. The overwhelming response of the parents boosted the morale of all. A team of 4 students, Abhinna Das, Srishti Hiranandani, Diya Jain and Shruti Bhaskar of classes IX and XI, participated in the National Adolescent Summit 2022 organised by Central Board of Secondary Education from 15-17 December at New Delhi. Some eminent guests were Dr. Jitendra Nagpal, Program Director of Expressions India; Dr. Joseph Emmanel, Director - Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) India; Smt. Thus, on the 19th and 20th of December, 2022, Delhi public school Jodhpur hosted its annual sports meet for the students of Primary block. 19th December was the day for the events of classes 1 to 3 and 20th December was for classes nursery and prep. The Annual Sports Meet embodies the zeal, talent and spirit of students, encouraging them to be persistent and to refine their talents, achieving the greatest of the heights. The most anticipated event of the year commenced with the arrival of the highly distinguished chief guest, Director and principal DPS Jodhpur, Mr. B.S Yadav. He is a person who redefines excellence with every fresh accolade coming his way. Special guest and member of management committee, DPS society, Professor U.R Daga’s presence made the event more memorable. A token of gratitude was presented to the respected chief guest and the special guest in the form of a memento. The commendable response of the teachers and students and the pleasant weather were the perfect boost for this meet. The students lifted the spirit of the occasion with a peppy dance drill and an energizing march past which set the tone for the rest of the event. Once the races began the atmosphere was filled with cheer and tons of encouragement for the young athletes. Students of classes nursery to 3 participated in events including obstacle race, ball balancing, shuttle race, crown exchange race, hoop relay and tower making. At the culmination, the chief guest for the day was invited to give away the prizes and facilitate the rightful winners with medals and certificates of excellence. Several activities such as decorating Christmas trees and stockings, making Christmas cards and hand-crafted bells were organized for the students. The spirit of giving and sharing was inculcated among the children. The boundless joy of celebration was visible on the faces of the children. The celebrations began with the special assembly conducted in all the three blocks of the school. The day began with a morning prayer followed by an enlightening thought. Story narration has been in existence since time immemorial, to entertain, inform and promulgate cultural traditions and values. Story narration of the book, ‘The Pursuit of Happiness’ , showcased the importance of ‘celebrating love’ with family and people around us. Then the students presented a scintillating performance which was a feast for the eyes and ears. It is rightly said, Christmas magic is heavenly and nostalgic, which was felt deeply by one and all. To make it a great and jubilant morning the audience had a euphoric feeling with Christmas carols. The students and the teachers present for the celebration delved deep into the pulsating music. It is a movement that is driven by Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi's efforts to bring together students, parents, teachers and the society to foster an environment where the unique individuality of each child is celebrated, encouraged and allowed to express itself fully. During his two-hour discussion with students, teachers and parents the PM advised them on how to overcome exam stress. Students from different schools sought his advice on how to manage stress, time management, what is better - hard work or smart work, and how to deal with use of unfair means in the examinations. Questions were also asked by teachers and parents regarding upbringing of the teenagers and effective classroom management. The exposition was embellished by the presence of eminent guests including Prof. Praveen Mishra, Dean, Vijaybhoomi School of Design Mumbai and Prof. Achia Anzi, Associate Professor, O P Jindal Design University Sonipat and other distinguished artists and guests across the city. Imagination being the source of every form of human achievement, the muchawaited PRAYAAS 2023envisaged the hidden impulses in students through VisualArts. The budding artists of classes Nursery to XII portrayed their hidden talents through the vibrancy of colours. The exhibition displayed over 350 paintings which covered various themes ranging from spirituality, feminism, traditional concepts, contemporary modes, environmental issues, essence of divinity, beautiful landscapes etc. The brush strokes dipped in acrylic, oil and water colours, oil pastels and clay work adorned the paper and canvas showcasing innumerable techniques. The grand gala commenced with the pious Ganesh Vandana, praying to the Lord to bless everyone with peace and contentment. Then, on one hand, the elegant and mesmerising moves of the students of class XI presenting a dance based on ten Japanese concepts to lead a happy and meaningful life struck a chord with the audience, while on the other hand, the energetic and agile steps on the western remix medley of various sprightly numbers set every foot tapping. The mellifluous musical rendition presented by the students touched every heart to its core. The celebration was further spiced up by a power-packed dance performance by the hostel students. It was the most nostalgic moment for the students of class XII when they were shown a power-point presentation of their school life flashing their memorable achievements and pictures. The eloquence and vibrancy of the comperes Mahika Kachhawaha, Shauryaveer Singh & Mitali Bagrecha, as well as the narrators Bhavya Sharma, Diya Jain, Yatharth Jain, Vanya Khatri, & Priyanshu Purohit were no less captivating, as they interwove the whole spectacle into a beautiful farewell-fabric using germane warps and woofs, leaving everyone spell-bound. Displaying their roller coaster of nostalgia, the students of class XII poured their hearts out while expressing their feelings for their school and teachers. Namovardhan Jain, the Head Boy, reminisced the fond memories of his school days and the Head Girl Rupal Sankhla thanked the school for grooming her from a meek timid toddler to a confident and talented young lady, ready to make a mark for herself in the world. The students of the passing out batch exhibited their immense love for their school by gifting a Public Address System. (-) -- The Annual Sports Meet for classes IV-VIII, Session 2022-23 culminated on 15 February 2023 with great vehemence that resonated the ground with loads of cheer and laughter. A riveting dance performance on the tunes of 'Kalbeliya' left the spectators awestruck. Following this, the Director and Principal motivated the students and advised them not to get diverted from the path of education. Henceforth, various events such as 200 mts, 100 mts and 4x100 mts races were organised. The participating players were encouraged and cheered throughout the matches. The students showcased a great sense of discipline and mastery of skill achieved through months of hard work. The spirit of sportsmanship was in the air. The atmosphere of the school was one of festivity and jubilance. The culmination witnessed loud cheers during the prize distribution ceremony at the hands of the Director and Principal, Vice Principal and the Headmistresses. Co-curricular activities play an important role in shaping the thought process of the students. They help the students discover and recognise their capabilities. So, it is important to make children aware of the G20 and its multilateral forum. Taking a step towards this initiative, Delhi Public School Jodhpur organised a GK Quiz and Slogan Writing Competition, based on the theme of the G20 working. The quiz for classes IX and XI was organised on 17 February 2022. Six teams with four students each participated in the event. The teams were named Asia, North America, South America, India, Australia and Africa. The students answered many questions based on the countries involved in G 20, their establishment, their working patterns, the country flags, etc. As Argentina was the G20 country mapped for conducting activities by the school hence an entire round in the G20 Quiz was dedicated to Argentina. The highly informative quiz ended with a tie between team Asia and team North America which led to a tiebreaker in which Team North America emerged as the winner. The winning team comprised Vaibhav Agarwal XI G, Gehna Bhandari IX H, Mudra Warde IX H, Parisha Setia IX H. Breaking the humdrum of daily routine, these festivals bring with them a wave of excitement and happiness. The festivals are the social glues that keep different communities together despite of social differences and make India stronger. This is the legacy of our country that we have been carrying from one generation to the other for ages. Displaying the land of fairs and festivals, students of class 1 of Delhi Public School Jodhpur presented the ‘Festivals of India ' with great zeal and enthusiasm on 1 March 2023. The school auditorium was decked up with things related to different harvest, national and religious festivals celebrated in India. The students looked graceful holding different props and wearing regional dresses. Director and Principal DPS Jodhpur, Mr B.S Yadav was the Chief Guest to preside the event. Mr. Yadav was overwhelmed with immense pleasure by the traditional and warm welcome by the students and teachers. The event started with ‘Paarakh Mehta ka ooltah chashmah’ where the students discerned the importance of celebrating different festivals and took the guests to different states where the guests were astonished to hear the regional language spoken by the little ones. Different dances performed, were an icing on the cake. The festivals involved in this event were Makar Sankranti, Bihu, Ganesh chaturthi, Eid, Lohri, Pongal, etc. The feeling of togetherness and patriotism arose when students reminded the audience of the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives to make India an independent country and celebrated different national festivals. The way little children performed and spoke mesmerized everyone. The hard work put in by the children and teachers left the viewers dumbstruck and full of praise. The event culminated with the magic wand like words of the Director and Principal Mr BS Yadav. He complemented the students as well as the teachers and parents for the efforts they had put in. He said,' Festivals are a time for bonding, a time for cross cultural exchange, a time to forgive and forget. Whether it is Lohri in North, Bihu in East, Pongal in South or Ganesh chaturthi in the west, the fervors of festivities is infectious and what were once considered regional celebrations are today a cause of exuberance all over the country. International Women's Day was celebrated in Delhi Public School Jodhpur on 8 March 2023, dedicating the day to all the women in the world, specially the female staff members of DPSJ family. International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, while also marking a call for action accelerating gender parity. On this occasion a short video depicting the importance of women was displayed after which an exquisite handcrafted card was presented to the female staff members of the organisation.
