Spring 2022 Alumnae Newsletter

The newsletter for Gamma Phi Alumnae for the Spring 2022 semester

AOII SPRING 2022

Spring 2022 This issue:

This spring semester was the beginning of a "normal" Spring Recruitment
sorority experience for our members. As Covid PAGE 02-03
restrictions were eased and events that had not been Bid Day
held in-person for two years returned, many of our PAGE 04-05
younger members got to partake in events that they had
only heard about. Our sisters welcomed the return to Founders' Day
in-person events not just within our chapter but with PAGE 06
the entire Greek Life community.

Recruitment

With the uptick of Covid-19 cases, CPC decided to make recruitment
a hybrid experience. Our VPMR, Ashley Bernhammer, quickly adapted

to the new circumstances and led the chapter through a fantastic
weekend meeting potential new members.

Recruitment spring 2022 was the first time
recruiting in-person for many of our sisters.
Because of this, our seniors stepped up and showed
fellow recruiters tips and tricks of the trade.

Philanthropy Day

On day two of recruitment, our
VPMR and Director of
Philanthropy, conducted a
presentation about our chapter's
four philanthropies and allowed
sisters to give personal speeches
about their connection to these
philanthropies during rounds.

Preference Round

On the last day of recruitment, our
chapter gave PNMs a deeper look at
our sisterhood by discussing the
importance of ritual, sisterhood, and
aoii's values.

WELCOME HOME

After a long three days of recruitment,
Gamma Phi got a sweet treat and

welcomed home spring '22. In a Candyland
themed bid-day, members celebrated the
arrival of these new members with cotton

candy, philly pretzels, and a Candyland
themed room.

FOUNDERS' DAY 2022

Our first event with spring '22 was our annual Founder's Day Brunch. At this event, Gamma Phi
members, alumni, and the Wagner Aoii chapter came together to celebrate the legacy of our founders
Stella, Helen, Bess, and Elizabeth. It was great to be able to return to this annual in-person event after

covid.

GIVING BACK

At this event, our raffle baskets raised
over $500 for the Ruby Fund, a relief
fund for sisters in financial need.
Additionally, several of our members
took the leftover food to a local
homeless shelter in Newark to prevent
food waste and support those in need.

Branching Out

On February 21st, spring 2022 received their
bigs! Our New member Educators, Kelly and
Michaela, organized a fun big-little reveal where
bigs wore fun socks that corresponded with their
littlea sheet was dropped to reveal who was on the
other side wearing their matching socks. This was a
fun night for new members, new bigs, and some
alumni!

Gettin' Fancy for a Good
Cause

For this year's Rose Gala, our members dressed up
in their finest to raise money for the arthritis
foundation. The guest speaker for the night,
Heather Szeles, gave a riveting speech about living
with chronic illness. After this speech, their was a
silent auction and a dinner catered by Miti- Miti.

Kickin' It For Kristen

In our first ever event for our sister
Kristen McCarthey, the chapter held a
shootout competition for the Epilepsy
Foundation. At this event, sisters and

fellow members of the SHU
community found a sponsor to donate
for each goal they made. Additionally,

there was a silent auction to help
raise funds. All proceeds were donated
to the Epilepsy Foundation in Kristen's

name.

Just formalities

For this year's spring formal, Emma Homoki planned a
beautiful night at McCloone's boathouse. Sisters and dates
were able to take photos on the back patio, enjoy delicious
food, dance, and partake in superlative awards.

Celebrating Our

Spring Photoshoot

At our annual spring photoshoot, seniors received their graduation
stoles and former officers received their cords. Then, all
graduating seniors participated in the tradition of popping
champagne over the Seton Hall Seal.

Alum Installation

During our last chapter of the school year, we installed members
of the Class of 2022 into alumna status. These sisters took part in

their last ritual ceremony and received a senior gift from the
chapter. To make this night special, seniors' bigs were contacted
to record some words of wisdom about post-graduation that were

put into a video and shared at chapter.
