Forefront Therapy, LLC
Indiana SBDC client demonstrates resilience

during a worldwide pandemic

Forefront Therapy, LLC is well-known in the Evansville area for innovative
physical and occupational therapy, providing customized care for each patient.
Forefront Therapy focuses on assisting patients in managing pain through therapy,
not relying solely on prescriptions. In addition to one-on-one care, Forefront
Therapy provides various programs, such as orthopedics and pelvic health. The
pandemic created quite a challenge for Forefront. How do you continue to provide
personal, customized care when most of your clients are not able to visit the clinic?

Ryan Wood, owner and CEO of Forefront Therapy, altered his processes to
include increased safety and cleaning precautions for patients who could visit
the clinic and added a Telehealth program for those who were unable to leave
their home. Through virtual appointments, Ryan and his team deliver at-home
therapy options that clients can perform themselves or with assistance. Ryan
understands the importance of continuity of care and knew that his patients would
recover more quickly if they did not have to miss therapy for weeks or months.
The Forefront Therapy team has always had a passion for creating innovative
solutions for people in any circumstance. The pandemic compelled them to think
creatively to solve issues for patients without being in the same room. Although
they were surprised how well they could help clients virtually, Ryan and his team
are grateful to welcome patients back at the clinic.

Stephanie El Tawil What inspired you to invest your time and resources in this
business?
773.306.9153 I worked as a nonprofit professional for more than a decade and noticed that
[email protected] organizations often struggle with a lack of staff or time to capitalize on opportunities.
Slade Consulting gives me the opportunity to work with multiple organizations and
PRESENTED BY: have a greater impact in the community.

What career advice would you give the younger generation
interested in this type of work?
My advice is to become a well-rounded professional in your field. Throughout
my career I chose to volunteer, join committees and accept positions that would
introduce me to the different aspects of nonprofit work. Gaining experience in
marketing, grant writing, public speaking, etc., has given me the tools that I currently
use as a consultant.

In your opinion, what are three ingredients for success?
Ethics, determination, goal setting

What has been one of your toughest challenges?
Making the transition from being an employee to a business owner has been more
difficult than I anticipated. I had to shift to an entrepreneurial mindset to think of new
possibilities. Having a built-in team to brainstorm with was invaluable. Now, I reach
out to other business owners and a group of nonprofit colleagues for support.

Why is the Evansville region a great place to operate a business?
There are so many resources available to assist business owners, especially first-
timers like myself. The region has done a fantastic job creating spaces and informal
communities that encourage entrepreneurship.

What do you like most about the community in which you live?
Evansville’s nonprofit community is like a family. Organizations collaborate and
bring together resources to better serve our community. Competition obviously
exists, but it is healthy and drives everyone to bring their best to the table.

Is there anything else you would like to share?
If you want to become an entreprenuer, do it!
