PREFACE

Our Little Book of Poems (Vol. 2) is a compilation of poems written
and illustrated by PISMP TESL students June 2020 intake here in Institut
Pendidikan Guru Kampus Kent, Tuaran. These poems are made during
one of the elective courses which is TSLB3223 Children’s Literature. Their
endeavour in this course has made this book possible to be published.

A poem is a piece of writing which expresses one’s feeling, ideas
and thoughts and it is also a form of literature that uses aesthetic and
rhythmic qualities of language. Hence, the primary aim of these poems is
to encourage the TESL students to write and boost their creativity and
self-confidence.

As future English Language teachers, these trainee teachers will be
using poems to teach in their ESL classroom. Thus, throughout their
course study, they were guided to research, write and illustrate their own
poems as proof with this published book. Moreover, this book is also a
commemoration of a successful collaboration among the TESL students as
well as with the English lecturers involved.

We would like to express our gratitude to everyone who joined and
helped in making the publication of Our Little Book of Poems (Vol. 2)
successful. The commitment and passion shown by those people truly
made this book possible. Our heartfelt thanks goes to the respective Dr.
Hajah Rosmawati Binti Hamzah B.S.K., the Director of Institute of Teacher
Education Kent Campus, all the lovely lecturers from Language
Department and fellow friends of PISMP TESL SK and TESL SJK(C) student
teachers June 2020 Intake for their meaningful contribution and support
towards the successful completion and publication of this book.

Furthermore, we would like to give special thanks to Madam Daisy
Ak Benedict Bamsa, the Head of English Unit of Institute of Teacher
Education Kent Campus. She made this book better with her helpful and
valuable comments. Truly, without her guidance and care this book would
not take shape.

Lastly, we are grateful to Nur Hanan Binti Mustafa Kamil and Wan
Ahlam Arina Binti Wan Zuzaki who joined hands to create beautiful
illustrations on the cover as well as the section dividers.
