CHAPTER COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES

The Chapter Council of the Richard I. Bong AFA Chapter 226 met Wed Aug 14th,
2019 1700 hours at Lake Superior College’s Center for Advanced Aviation at
4960 Airport Road.

Present: Pres Bryan Graddy, Vice Pres Timothy Nesley, Secretary Deborah
Johnson, and Treasurer Pete Bromen. Additional chapter members: Jessie
Graddy, Keith Bischoff present.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT: President Graddy reviewed chapter activities since the
previous meeting. Discussed Agenda times to be covered during the meeting.
New Air Force mbrs in the area as Det 420 cadre.

CORRESPONDENCE: N/A

SECRETARY REPORT: March meeting minutes approved. CyberGenerations nation
roll out announcement that our chapter beta tested is coming out and we think
we should continue those efforts in our community.

FINANCE: New Treasure introduction of Pete Bromen. Treasurer delivered
financial report. Current balance $2723.88.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Aerospace Education: (Jessie Graddy): Teacher of the Year Awarded – Laura
Zimny from Esko! Went to her classroom and presented it to her. If anyone
knows any STEM teachers doing awesome things, please let Jessie Graddy know!
Deadlines for applications is April but we would like them in sooner than
later to give time for the voting process.

VA Affairs: (Mr. Bischoff): Commemorative Air Force Antique Car/Airplane Show
and BBQ! This Saturday, 17 Aug 8 am to Sunset. Event Description:
Join the Commemorative Air force Lake Superior Squadron 101 at the Superior
Bong Memorial Airport for a day of fun including antique cars and antique
airplanes, tours, and barbeque! Come hungry! http://www.cafduluth.com/

OLD BUSINESS: None

NEW BUSINESS & INFO:
-Appointment of Pete as Treasure for remainder of Ben Shafer’s term IAW Chapter

Bylaws. Welcome Pete!
-AFA T-Shirt Order Voting: Voted to prepay for 24 shirts to sale to mbrs and as
fundraisers/awareness of our local chapter. *We will be sending out an email
and taking orders once we get a final approved print of what the shirt will
look like! Stay tuned!
-Establish nominating committee for 2020 chapter officers. (Nomination
Committee: Tim, Deborah, and Steve) PLEASE IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN BEING
NOMINATED LET US KNOW OR EMAIL [email protected]!
- Reminder: AFA table will be at Superior Bong Airport – Old terminal this
Saturday Aug 17 from 5-7 to support their event! If anyone is interested in
representing AFA that day, COME JOIN!
- Sept 21st UMD Military Appreciation Game/ If anyone is interested in hosting
an AFA tailgating event please let Bryan Graddy know!
- Aug 23, Friday 8am-2pm – Stand down for Vets (see attached flyer) Duluth
Bayfront Festival Park 350 Harbor Drive Duluth, MN! (Requested to bring DD214
or VA ID Card for Faster Registration.)
- Aug 27 Military Appreciate at State Fair (reduced price)

VOTING:

-Voted to use up to $600 to fund upfront price for AFA shirts for fundraiser.
-Voted to support Star Base with a $100.00 check to support their STEM
outreach in the community.
