Gentle Visitor

Welcome. We are pleased to have you visit Greenwood Memorial Park and Mount Olivet
Cemetery. It is our sincere desire that you share with us their peace and beauty. Throughout both
cemeteries you will find tranquility and reverence amid the soft shadowed lawns and native trees.
Visiting hours are from 8:00 in the morning until sunset.

A Place to Remember

Mount Olivet’s 130 acres of wooded grounds were dedicated on May 1, 1907, as the first
endowment care cemetery of this area. Greenwood, with its 196 acres of rolling lawns and stately
native trees, was dedicated on March 30, 1909.
Each cemetery has its own funeral home, two chapels and flower shop. In addition for
Arlington area residents, Greenwood’s Arlington Chapel and Crematory is centrally located at 1221
East Division Street and our state-of-the-art crematory is located on the grounds of Mount Olivet.
Patrons of any of our cemeteries or funeral homes can conveniently consult with one person for
all funeral, burial and cremation arrangements.
For those who desire above-ground burial, there is a mausoleum at both Greenwood and
Mount Olivet. The magnificent Greenwood Mausoleum has received a statewide architectural design
award and is visited from time to time by architects and architectural students from throughout
the world. The garden mausoleum overlooking the beautiful lawn of the Garden of Memories at
Mount Olivet has also received wide acceptance by those who prefer above-ground entombment.
Each of the cemeteries has a Churchyard Section where the ownership of the cemetery space
remains with the cemetery but permanent memorialization and burials are provided at the lowest
possible cost. Further information on the use of graves is available at the cemetery and funeral
home offices. For those who prefer, all funeral, burial and cremation arrangements may be made in
advance at any of our funeral home locations.

Unique Ownership

Greenwood and Mount Olivet Cemeteries are owned and managed by Mount Olivet Cemetery
Association, a non-profit corporation. No one has a proprietary interest in the organization.
Mount Olivet Cemetery Association, Greenwood Endowment Care Trust and Mount Olivet
Endowment Care Trust are qualified to receive charitable contributions under the provisions of the
United States Internal Revenue Code.
The funeral homes and flower shops are owned by Greenwood-Mount Olivet Company, a
profit corporation, wholly owned by Mount Olivet Cemetery Association. After federal income
taxes are paid on the earnings of this company, all the net earnings of the funeral homes, flower
shops and the cemeteries are used exclusively for the care and maintenance of the cemeteries.

Secure for Generations to Come

To further insure the future maintenance of the cemeteries, irreducible endowment care trust
funds are held by a major bank. The trust funds increase by a perpetual care trust deposit in the
amount of 20% for each cemetery space, crypt or niche purchase.
The rules and regulations are designed to ensure the safety of visitors and employees and to
further the best maintenance of the lawns. Your cooperation is sincerely appreciated. For further
information, you are invited to make inquiry at our cemetery offices.
