GUIDELINES FOR REQUESTING SPECIMEN CONTAINERS FROM
PATHOLOGY DEPARTMENT

1. Specimen containers are provided by Pathology department except for
histopathology surgical specimens.
2. Request is processed on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8.00 am- 1.00pm. SPECIMEN CONTAINERS
3. Request form must be sent in duplicate on the designated day before 10.00 am.
4. Containers must be collected on the same day of request before 4.00 pm.
5. Any inquires please contact Pathology Counter (ext. 2069).
6. Please ensure good stock management to prevent shortage/wastage/expired
containers.


GUIDELINES FOR STORING SPECIMEN CONTAINERS

All specimen containers must be kept at room temperature except :

a. At 2-8°C for
i) VTM
ii) Charcoal media for Bordatella pertussis isolation
iii) Media for Corneal scrapping C/S


Note: Use containers within the expected date. Expired containers must not be used.
Send back expired/near expiry container (at least 1 month) to Pathology department.
