Commerce Means Business
Located along the I-5 and 710 freeways between Downtown Los Angeles and the Port of Long
Beach, the City of Commerce is a major economic hub within Los Angeles County and is the ideal
place to establish your business. We are home to over 1,800 different businesses which together
contribute over $1.9 billion in annual taxable sales with industries ranging from retail to
manufacturing. In addition, the City has access to major railroads and the Washington Boulevard
corridor, making it a convenient location as a major transportation artery.

Since our incorporation in 1960, Commerce has consistently retained a pro-business philosophy by
reducing business costs, streamlined development review and business license processes, offering
a strong partnership between city leadership and various stakeholders, as well as never charging city
property, gross receipts, and utility taxes.

Our friendly and knowledgeable staff is available to assist new and existing businesses with the
tools they need to start and grow. The Development Services team meets with prospective
developers and property owners interested in undertaking new projects and works with them to
ensure the best possible location for their enterprises in a timely manner.

Commerce is often referred to as the “Model City” because we offer high quality programs and
advantages for businesses and employees that other cities do not have. The amenities offered at
minimal or no cost include an award-winning library system, four beautiful parks, a world class
aquatics center with an Olympic-sized swimming pool, a fully staffed camping facility in Lake
Arrowhead, a free public transportation system, and much more.

Commerce is a great place to do business, whether it’s a small mom-and-pop shop or nationally
recognized brand companies. Commerce is home to both the Commerce Casino, the largest card
casino in the world; and the world famous Citadel Outlets, Southern California’s most successful
outlet mall. Attracting an average of over 85,000 visitors a day, the City has no shortage of
consumers.

For almost 60 years, Commerce has been a model city for businesses and residents alike. The
City of Commerce is the place to be!
