15% 21% 18% 10% 18% Transportation 18% About UI GreenMetric Established in 2010, UI GreenMetric World University Rankings envisions to be an open and respected world university rankings which brings sustainable impacts to universities around the world. To achieve this vision, we do 5 missions. They are (1) organizing annual World University Rankings on Sustainability, (2) encouraging sustainability practices in universities around the world, (3) providing sustainability-related services for universities around the world, and (4) facilitating international partnerships on sustainability. In UI GreenMetric we believe that everyone should play their roles actively. We collaborate in our UI GreenMetric World University Rankings Network with 1050 member universities in 85 countries (2022). Our Network As a global network of universities concerned with sustainability, UI GreenMetric World University Rankings Network was established in 2017. The network seeks to advance the efforts of its members and contribute to global society through three thematic priorities. They are (1) shaping global higher education and research in sustainability, (2) creating global sustainability leaders, (3) partnering on solutions to sustainability challenges. Methodology UI GreenMetric uses 38 indicators and 6 criteria i.e Setting & Infrastructure (SI), Energy and Climate Change (EC), Waste (WS), Water (WR), Transportation (TR), and Education and Research (ED) to assess participating universities’ sustainability programs. More than US$ 28, 147, 058, 405 total research fund on environment and sustainability. 2, 346, 175 faculty members. 37, 554, 513 students.
The number of universities participating has increased significantly since 2010. It started with 95 universities from 35 countries in 2010 and rose to 1050 universities from 85 countries in 2022. We invite higher education institutions worldwide to join our ranking.
