Phra Kaew Hall is an ancient temple originally built in the year 1565 by King Chai Setthathirat to enshrine the Emerald Buddha until 1779 when it was lost to the Siamese. Later, it was rebuilt in 1936. Due to this, no monks reside in the temple, unlike other temples in Laos. In 1970, the temple was converted from a place of worship to a museum and now houses national sculptures and artifacts. Wat Chiang Thong is a temple located in Luang Prabang, which was built around the year 1560. Pak Ou Caves are a popular tourist attraction in Laos, located near the village of Ban Pak Ou, about 25 kilometers north of Luang Prabang.
