Once upon a time, there was an arrogant deer living in
the jungle. The deer is proud because it has sharp and
beautiful antlers. He loves to go to the river to looked at
his reflection. He also likes to show his antlers to his
friends, the rabbit and the monkey.
Look! My antlers are
sharp and very
beautiful. No one is
more beautiful than
me.
Don't be arrogant
with your
advantages and
beauty.
1
That's true. you
can't be
arrogant.
Huh! You two are
just jealous of me.
However, the deer doesn't like his skinny legs. Everyday,
the deer will look at his legs with a sad face.
"Look how skinny my legs are. I wish I had strong and
beautiful legs. Surely I would be the greatest and most
beautiful animal in the jungle". He grunted.

One evening, a deer was looking for food in the jungle.
However, he did not realise that he had walked a long
way and was approaching the place where the hunters
always came.
So, he decided to rest under a tree. Suddenly, out of
nowhere, he heard the barking of dogs. He was very
surprised and scared because he knew that there were
hunters nearby.
3
"If the hunter can see me,
I will definitely be caught!"
The deer kept running as hard as it could. Unfortunately,
the deer's antlers suddenly got stuck in a tree branch. The
deer was very scared and struggled to free its antlers from
the branch. Finally, he continued to use his skinny legs and
managed to free his antlers from getting stuck.
4
A small part of the deer's antler was broken, but he felt
very grateful to have escaped from the hunter.
Since that day, the deer weren't as arrogant anymore.
The deer has realised that he also has strong legs that
are able to save his life. He also understands now how
precious his skinny legs are. He apologized to his friend,
rabbit and monkey, for often being arrogant. He now
knows, being beautiful doesn't necessarily will bring us
good, and things that seem useless doesn't necessarily
means it is not useful.
