DYA10022 INTRODUCTION TO AGRICULTURE TECHNOLOGY
INTRODUCTION
Harvesting in agriculture is meant the season for gathering in agricultural crops the beginning of the harvest .
a mature crop from a fruit or a plant is being harvest to make a new plant or fruits. harvest also has another
meaning is the act or process of gathering in a crop assisting neighbors in their harvest. Reap is another and
similar word to harvest . in agriculture harvesting method is one of for taking care of the plants. It is very
important to know when to harvest since the correct time of harvest is crucial in preventing crop losses.
Losses can be also caused by field animals, plant diseases, insect pests or certain weather conditions. Timely
harvesting ensure good crop quality and market value. in harvesting need to know what to prepare the need
to harvest the mature plant or fruit. There are advantages and disadvantages of manual harvesting. Fruits and
vegetables can be selected more precisely at the optimal maturity stage compared to mechanical harvesters.
Fruit and vegetables are carefully handled and therefore damage is minimized. Foragers can take part in
reseeding and protecting populations of important plants. The benefits of harvesting in the wild are much
more than natural medicines and foods. It is a right and responsibility as we nourish our bodies and protect
our flora and fauna. Eventhough theres is so many benefits in harvesting is there always have effect on
environment such as also can lead to habitat loss, prominently in high-value, ecologically sensitive lands.
Loss of trees adjacent to streams can increase water temperatures. Harvesting adjacent to streams can
increase sedimentation and turbidity in streams, lowering water quality and degrading riparian habitat in
harvesting theres a lot of differents types plants to harvest and also have their own time that the plants takes
to grow nicely . almost all vegetables are best when harvested early in the morning. overnight vegetables
regain moisture that they lost during the day, and starches formed during the day may be converted to sugars
during the evening. these traits make morning-harvested produce crisper, juicier, and sweeter. for some other
plants typically harvest season starts late September or early October for those farming and growing crops
outside. Before the weather changes and cools as autumn approaches, the crops are cut and collected, ready
to be used for cooking and eating. other than that, Harvesting at the right time is crucial when it comes to
growing cannabis. If you harvest too early, you will have premature buds which leads to a poor product and a
smaller yield. Harvest too late and the potency of your weed takes a steep decline or turns to rot. There are
many factors that influence a harvest date, including soil fertility, precipitation, and temperature. As a result,
actual “days to maturity” may be different from year to year. Therefore, a gardener needs to be aware of the
subtle clues that indicate a vegetable is ripe for the pickingWhile the major factor determining the time of
harvest is the maturity of the crop, other factors such as weather, availability of harvest equipment, pickers,
packing and storage facilities, and transport are important considerations. every plant has the certain time for
the plants to grow healthy and ready to be harvest.

C – Conceive
➢ To start harvesting, it should be noted that the harvesting time period for each variety of
canned fruit is different that is in the range of 80-85 days after bud formation. The skin of
canned fruit is very thin and easily damaged, so it should be picked according to the
appropriate maturity index. If the fruit is to be stored in a cold room, make sure that the fruit
picked is half -ripe because it will reach the appropriate maturity index within a week of
storage.
➢ Ripe figs will be harvested 2 times a day. Apart from that, canned plant leaves should never
be underestimated, they can still be processed into tea and beverages. The estimated yield
that can be harvested depends on the variety and usually canned fruit can produce 1kg of
fruit per month after reaching maturity.

D – DESIGN
➢ This plant is suitable to be grown on a variety of soils. However, the land area used must
have good drainage. Areas of stagnant water will cause the roots to become damaged and
rot, thus causing the death of the tree. While in terms of temperature, it is suitable to be
grown in areas with a temperature of 24-37 ° C as the optimum temperature in Malaysia.
➢ Canned tree seeds can be obtained by purchasing at the nursery or online. Usually the
seeds that have been purchased are seeds that have been produced through the tut
method or by stem cuttings and can be directly planted on suitable media.

I – IMPLEMENT
➢ Prepare polybags or pots for sowing. Make sure the polybag or vase used has holes to
remove excess water. Then, fill the polybag with a soil mixture between red soil (70%),
peatmoss (15%) and rice husk (15%) for best results.
➢ Open the wrapper of the tut cuttings carefully and soak them in the fungicide solution for a
period of 30min.
➢ Put the seeds in a polybag or pot and cover using the available soil media. Trees that have
been planted should be placed in a shady area at an early stage.
➢ Seedlings are still in a weak condition to adapt to hot weather. Seeds that have been
transplanted in such shady areas should be watered periodically depending on the weather.
After a few weeks, the tree will begin to produce buds and leaves.

O – OPERATE
➢ Fresh canned fruits are harvested with an estimated 15 - 20 kilograms per day and sold at
an average price of RM60 per kilogram. Depending on the variety as well, there are some
varieties that reach a price of up to RM80 per kilogram because it is a premium type and the
fruit is also small.
➢ Canned fruit seeds which he claims are more profitable. Depending on the variety of canned
tree seedlings, it is sold at a price between RM50 per tree to RM150 per tree.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion , harvesting are really important for planting because we can have new stocks for
products that connected to plants and fruits we could sell them and get downpayment .
