Curriculum

Rationale

The purpose of technology integration at The City School is to inculcate the

technical skills within all curricula to help learners moving on their journey
towards digital literacy through the use, management, and understanding of

technology. Strategies for the integration and implementation of technology,
with an understanding of its use and impact, will help enable a positive

change in the classrooms and lead to digitally-literate learners.

The Computing Curriculum of 2019-2020 is based on the best practices in

learning and teaching with technology to improve higher order thinking

skills of students to prepare them for their future in a competitive global
job market. In this curriculum, technology is used as a tool to integrate 21st

century competencies and expertise such as communication, leadership,

critical thinking, complex problem solving, creativity and collaboration in
different subjects.

Assessment Policy

Assessment provides important information to both the students and

the teacher throughout the learning process. Students are motivated and
challenged to learn when they understand the goals of learning, and when

they themselves have strategies in setting their own goals. Assessment is a

regular part of the teaching and learning processes.

Computing Assessments

From KG till class 2, students will be assessed on their
computing skills performance in the computing lessons
throughout the year.

From classes 3 to 8, students will be assessed on their
computing skills performance in the computing lesson,
which will be considered as course learning marks.

Course Learning percentage will be calculated on the marks
obtained by students in practical activities of computing
subject.

MYE examination will be conducted from class 6 to class 8,
exam marks will be entered in the exam percentage column
of the report card.

EOY examination will be conducted from class 5 to class 8,
marks will be entered in the exam percentage column of the
report card.

Bifurcation of Computing Assessment (KG to Class 8)

Class Course Learning % Exam % Exam Grade Calculation

KG to Class 4 100% - 100% weightage of course
learning %

Class 5 (MYE) 100% - 100% weightage of course
learning %
Class 5 (EOY) 100% 100% 60% weightage of Course
Learning % and 40%
weightage of Exam %

Class 6 to 8 (MYE & 100% 100% 60% weightage of Course
EOY) Learning % and 40%
weightage of Exam %

Practical Activity Assessment Criteria

1 If the student has completed the entire
activity without the help of ICT teacher
then the teacher marks “1” in front of the
appropriate activity now.

2 If the student has completed the entire
activity with a little help of ICT teacher
then the teacher should mark “0.5” in
front of the appropriate activity row

Practical Activity If the student is unable to perform a
particular skills then the teacher should
Assessment 3 mark “0” in front of the appropriate
activity’s skill row.
Criteria

4 If the student has not performed the
activity at all the the teacher should
mark “-” in front of the appropriate
activity row.

If the student was absent on any activity
5 day then it’s the responsibility of the ICT
teacher to ensure that the said student
performs the activity on some other day
and aseess the student accordingly.

CENTURY & Other

Platforms

CENTURY

CENTURY is the intelligent intervention tool that identifies gaps, addresses

misconceptions and supports teacher interventions. CENTURY helps teachers

and senior leaders remove learning roadblocks that hold students back.

Key Benefits of CENTURY for Students

Identifies gaps in knowledge

Pinpoints and addresses misconceptions

Personalizes content, activities and
pathway for each learner

Key Benefits of CENTURY for Educators

Target intervention with easy to use
data

Reduce time spent on marking and data
entry

Access to 1000’s of learning resources

Benefits of CENTURY Platform

1 Students can learn without needing help of tutors at home.

2 More chances for knowledge retention because a student

can attempt the same nugget multiple times.

3 Interactive engagement with the platform ensures minimal

dexterity.

4 The analytics tool allow the teacher to monitor student’s

performance, to the last unit degree (specific nugget). This
means potential gaps in teaching can be identified and fixed
early on.
5 Provides complete analysis of various learning aspects

such as student’s focus areas, strengths and knowledge
expression areas.

6 The MCQ style of questions and the learning pathway give a

gamified view to the platform. This increases engagement and
encourages more use of the platform.

7 The assessment and reinforcement techniques in CENTIRY

prepare students for formal assessment and allows the students
to produce imprioved exam results

8 Data driven analytical insight/dashboards ensure that all

teaching plan and strategies are resulting in maximum
clarity for students.
