MIAMI CHAPTER BLACK NURSES ASSOCIATION

WELCOME FROM THE MIAMI CHAPTER PRESIDENT

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the 41st Annual Scholarship &
Awards Luncheon of the Miami Chapter Black Nurses Association (Miami
BNA). It is heartfelt that each of you chose to take this opportunity to share
this momentous occasion with us today. This year’s theme is Nursing
Resilience: Disruptions in Practice, Research, Education, Policy,
and Entrepreneurship. This theme is uniquely qualified in the current
environment as the nursing profession faces the critical challenges to navigate
its way through a Pandemic of epic proportion. Covid-19 has revealed how
fragile the global nursing workforce is and how it has affected Nurses on
the frontlines with devastating consequences.
Miami BNA’s goal is to provide high-quality healthcare to all, while decreasing
health disparities in underserved communities. Especially now, and more
than ever; we as healthcare providers must have a vision, while being open
to new ideas and insights which prepares us to be active participants and
advocates in the future of healthcare. These efforts are achieved through
services provided, such as health fairs and lectures, educational conferences, and legislative initiatives with our
State and Federal Legislators. It is our mission to support and improve health outcomes in our communities.
I want to take this opportunity to personally thank each of you, our members, our Sponsors, and our supporters.
To the members, I am honored to serve as your President and vow to do my best to represent the Miami Chapter
of the Black Nurses Association. To our Sankofa members, I feel honored to know the caliber of work you have
done over the years in the field of nursing to pave the way for and inspire the current generation of nurses. Our
goal is to provide high-quality healthcare to all, and it is imperative that we have your involvement to achieve
some measure of success. I humbly thank you for the continued support of Miami BNA in our work to decrease
health disparities through advocacy, education, and health promotion. I sincerely wish that each of you have a
joyful celebration of our 41st Annual Scholarship & Awards Luncheon.

Sincerely,
Dr. Sharon Rogers, President
