being in the same situation, being isolated from their family, and dying at home alone. e family showed a lot of gratitude, and all I told
them was that nursing is caring for someone no matter the consequences. Support from family members for their loved ones who are sick
makes a di erence in their healing during this pandemic.

As a eld case manager working with injured workers, I encountered many patients with COVID-19 and was designated as one of the
COVID-19 nurses. I did not provide direct care as a eld case manager, but I coordinated their care post-hospitalization and dealt with
post COVID-19 conditions. COVID-19 protocols changed and were changing as we were treating patients all throughout the pandemic.
My responsibility was to inform the employers and physicians of these changes. I dealt with patients su ering of post COVID-19 e ects
and conditions where many struggled and became debilitated. e long-term impact of COVID-19 is real.

As we evolve in caring for COVID-19 patients and those su ering with the post e ects, we hope to nd solutions to the many issues
encountered. For the many patients who ended up with fatigue syndrome, shortness of breath, loss of taste and smell, headaches, muscles
pain, other conditions such as cardiac, nerve damage, and psychological issues, just to name a few, we must continue to learn to deal and
to live around the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a plethora of studies emerge and post COVID-19 conditions are researched in detailed, we must remember to continue to be dili-
gent in our ght against this horrible virus.
