PROJECT BASED LEARNING (PBL)

Project Based Learning is a learning process where pupils are given opportunities to
design, develop and plan solutions to a problem. The following is the overview of my PBL
(English) for Year 6 pupils.

Can living things live forever in this world?

How can animals live safely?

1. What is the meaning of endangered animal?
2. What is the difference between a threatened species and
an endangered species?
3. What are the causes of animals becoming endangered?
4. What steps can be taken to overcome the problem of
extinction?
5. Why should we protect the endangered animals?
6. What would we lose if endangered animals become
extinct?
7. How do you feel if there are more and more animals
become endangered?

Time Frame 11 May – 21 May
Project Summary Choose an endangered animal that you are interested. Do
a research on the animal. Device a plan to prevent the
extinction of the endangered animal. Present your work
through suitable media.

Content Standards By the end of the 6-year primary schooling, pupils will be able to:
1.1 pronounce words and speak confidently with the correct stress,

2.2 demonstrate understanding of a variety of linear and non-linear

Step 1: Select an endangered animal that you would like Reading

to know more about it (tiger, orangutan, sea turtle, and

rhinoceros, etc.) Writing

Step 2: Search for information regarding the endangered

animal through the Internet, books or other sources

(species, characteristics, sizes, habitats, threats,

importance for human beings etc.)

Step 3: Write down the information in the notebook.

May PowerPoints, or other suitable artifact. Drawing,

colouring, printing and writing are allowed. You are

encouraged to use One suitable i-Think map, e.g. circle

map, tree map or bubble map.

6 20 – 21 Step 5: Record a video and do a presentation (POL) of Speaking

May your artifact such as scrapbook, PowerPoints and so on.

Talk about what you know of the endangered animal and

how can human beings help to prevent the extinction.

Send your video recording to your teacher for feedback

and assessment.
