7. Pastoral work

Goal: provide a model faith-based organisation in pastoral care of AIDS patients, people living with HIV
and those affected by HIV/AIDS with the following objectives:
1. Children, patients and personnel of CSC Rayong get pastoral care, rehabilitation, and development

of quality of life in all dimensions on the basis of receiving love, understanding and respect for the
values of human dignity.
2. Personnel got development of values and identity of Camillian Order with morality and ethics in
performing their duties by focusing on patients and children at the center of their work, having the
spirit of love and service, respecting human dignity and playing important role in helping patients
and society.
3. CSC Rayong’s members at all levels play a role and take part in pastoral work at organisational
and local church level, and among network partners.
4. Children, patients and personnel of CSC Rayong’s give high priority to the care and development
of quality of their spiritual life, on the basis or faith resources and spirituality of each one.
5. To meet spiritual needs of the children, the patients and members of CSC Rayong.
The target group is the patient, the children and youth, personnel and volunteers of CSC Rayong, in total 167 people.
2 personnel have become members of Catholic Sub-Committee on AIDS, 9 members have attended
general assembly of Caritas Thailand, a network of Catholic organisations working in social work. In addition, 167
children, the patients and personnel of CSC Rayong have participated in pastoral activities.
The children were interested in performing various functions in liturgies. The patients participated in
liturgies, particularly Sunday Mass and regularly on religious celebrations. The children and CSC Rayong’s members
playing roles and duties in liturgies have gained more skillsม such as singing, leading prayer, Bible reading, etc.
The children and youth expressed more clearly their morals and ethics, especially the spirit of volunteerism,
knowing how to help patients and society more.
There was initiation and cooperation in organising activities to promote new beliefs that are clearly crea-
tive, such as Bai Sri Su Kwan (Thai traditional morale boosting ceremony on the occasion of International Patients
Day, merit-making ceremony for 2 Christian Wednesdays, a 25th anniversary celebration of CSC Rayong, a
merit-making ceremony on Buddhist Lenten Day. A prayer ceremony for the deceased patient, etc. Patients
voluntarily participated in the ritual.
People who are Christian from outside have greater participation and role in continually assisting, supporting
and participating in pastoral activities and important ceremonies held at the Center. CSC Rayong’s members
including priests, children and the staff were constantly invited to participate in the pastoral work of the local church.
There was concrete coordination between religious and Catholic networks in their operation, for example,
referring cases of young men for their behavioral change at Sarnelly home in Nong Khai Province, receiving
cases of two male Burmese orphans infected with HIV and affected by AIDS referred from Maris Rayong Center,
referring young men and women to learn life experiences with 3 Catholic agencies in Chiang Mai Province, etc.

Activities Implemented
1. Organised religious ceremonies and activities to promote faith
1) Organized daily Mass.
2) Organised religious ceremonies on important celebrations.
3) Encouraged children, personnel and volunteers and healthy patients to play roles and take

part in ceremonies, such as helping in liturgies, leading prayers, reading scriptures, singing
hymns in liturgy and CSC Rayong’s members participated in liturgies and faith-promoting
activities, and religion and faith communities outside, such as Our Lady of Perpetual Help
parishcommunity, Rayong Province, Conversion of Saint Paul parish community, Rayong
Province.
4) They were responsible for performing the holy drama about the birth of Jesus on the eve
of Christmas celebration at Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish every year until they have
got expression of admiration from the parish priest and who participated parishioners.
5) Encouraged and supported children to know how to pray in an attempt to instill faith, with
religion as a spiritual foundation.
2. Prayer for the deceased patients: Most of them were patients without relatives, as there was a
deep bond between patients, as well as to promote faith and prepare them for unexpected death
that could happen to everyone.
3. Annual Christmas Day celebration on every December 25 by inviting Bishop Silvio Siriphong Jarassri
, Bishop of Chanthaburi Diocese to preside over the ceremony. CSC Rayong also invited priests
and religious in the nearby area, as well as Christians and parishioners from outside to join in the
celebration.
4. World Day of the Sick Celebration: On February 11, Bai Sri Su Kwan activity was organised for the
patients, reading message on World Day of the Sick, open-heart activities among patients, Mass
at the building of the sick and administering sacrament of anointing the sick who are Christians.
5. Organised a spiritual renewal for Christian groups to prepare to prepare for Paschal celebration
on March 31, 2021 by inviting Rev. Fr. Kriangkrai Sukjai, a Camillian priest, to give a sermon,
administer confession and preside over the Mass
6. Assembly of personnel engaged in social work in Chanthaburi Diocese: CSC Rayong accompanied
its 9 personnel to attend annual assembly of the network of people engaging in social work in
Chanthaburi Diocese at Chanthaburi Diocesan Center, Si Racha District, Chonburi Province.
7. Catholic network on AIDS: CSC Rayong sent its 2 staff members to sit as members of the Catholic
Committee on AIDS to foster collaboration in pastoral care and common solution to HIV/AIDS.
8. Inter-religious activities: CSC Rayong organised inter-religious activities and rituals as per various
beliefs of the staff and the sick, such as offering food to monks on the occasion of beginning of
Buddhist Lent and merit making merit at home (the center), etc.

9. Being on the side of the pastor: Camillian priests as pastor play an important role as both leader
and collaborator with personnel, as well as accompanying, sharing the suffering and happiness,
participating in planning and development, as well as resolving problems. In addition, they also
accompanied the patients and children and visit and encourage patients regularly, resulting in the
patient’s improved morale, creating an atmosphere of faith and religion in creating society and
culture of love.

10. Training on spirit, morality and ethics
• CSC Rayong provided ethical training for children and the sick, both during ฟืก ฟด�ำพ the

liturgy, cultivating the values of belief, spirit of love and the value of the Gospel, respecting
dignity of oneself and others, cultivating morality and ethics in children to know how to
share and help society.
• CSC Rayong sent youths for exposure-immersion with ethnic children and youth at 2
Catholic centers in Chiangmai for 10 days, which was to support the children to gain
exprience in pastoral care with other churches.
• Before monthly staff meeting and on various occasions, CSC Rayong instilled spirit and
values according to Camillian’s identity for its personnel to perform their duties on the basis
of love and respect for the dignity of children and patients, and develop care process and
improve the quality of life of patients with a holistic approach.
• Dialogue on the position of religion in ending AIDS problem on the occasion of World
AIDS Day: CSC Rayong organised a seminar for religious leaders on the topic “Religious
Stance to End AIDS” On the occasion of World AIDS Day 2021, with an honor from Bishop
Siriphong Jaratsri, bishop of Chanthaburi Dioocese, Rev. Fr. Phairat Sriprasert, Secretary
of Social Work and Health Department of the Caholic Bishops’ Conference of Thailand and
provincial superior of Camillian Order in Thailand and Rev. Fr. Giovanni Contarin , founder
of CSC Rayong, which broadcast online.

8. Public Relations and Resource Development

Goal: to raise funds and resources for the operation to achieve the organisation’s objectives.
These were done through 3 operational guidelines as follows:
1) enhancing people’s proper knowledge and understanding about CSC Rayong and patients;
2) encouraging good attitude towards CSC Rayong and patients; and
3) creating channels and opportunities for individuals and agencies to give donations
and support sustainably.
Target Groups: Enterprises, private organisations, Catholic groups and foreigners
Groups of individuals and agencies both in Rayong and throughout the country and abroad Know the
operation of CSC Rayong which was also extended to Catholic groups. There was support through donation
of consumer goods and money through charitable activities and various projects regularly, resulting in a total
donation of 6,933,161.51 THB, including consumer goods for use in various projects and for expenses in managing
the organisation as well.
There was a continuous increase in the number of followers from all online channels with an average
increase of 100 accounts of followers per month that received the news. There was daily update on the lives of
the welfare clients, at least 1 time in average per day, resulted in donors having more trust in the organisation
and decided to support the work of CSC Rayong, an average of 60 persons/month.
There is a channel to donate via QR Code, giving benefactors with a convenient choice and make decision
to donate faster.
Activities Implemented
1. Developed public relations model on various social media platforms as follows: Online: Facebook,

Website, TikTok, Line Official, Instagram and Youtube Channel to reach the target audience quickly,
conveniently, anytime, anywhere, and encourage the target audience to be aware of news and
movements that are current can decide to continue supporting or sharing to their own groups.
2. Produced and published brochure and vynil, and send these materials by post to various organi-
sations to persuade them to join as sponsors for sub-projects or specific activities, such as Run for
Kid, The Bridge of Hope, all 7 projects, annual charity events, annual reports and charity products.
3. Communicating with supporters via online media both old and new supporters, newsletter or photos
of various activities.
4. Developing channels for donations: These include: prepare daily menu with the amount of
expenses, a list of requests for donations of items of the month, add a QR Code to a bank account,
donate via credit card, donate via donation box and payable check.

5. International fundraising: Conducting public relations for foster parents project, the Fulfilling Dreams
and Sharing Happiness Project, short-term special projects with small budget, such as computers
for education, transformer, internet project, and sent information on the operations of CSC Rayong
through both organisations and direct to individual donors.

and for that we all grateful. The Patient, Children, Staff, Volunteers and Director sending

9. Personnel Office

Goal: To develop operation and personnel for sustainable quality by designing framework as follows:
1) provide professional knowledge and capacity building to personnel (80%);
2) have sacrifice and love for the work of the organisation (80%); and
3) all employees must receive training according to their aptitude 80 %.
Target groups: 1) 34 staff members; 2) 12 volunteers
The rate of staff turnover: 2 new employees, 9 employees resigned: Current total 34 staff members and
12 volunteers.
The staff who received the training and study visits have applied what they have learned which included
physical exercise, implementation of the project give me what you don’t need. 80% of the staff and volunteers
took part in internal traditional activities. All (100%) of the staff have been tested with ATK.
Activities Implemented
1. Organised training activities, meetings and study visits by personnel officers together with department

heads and executive personnel determined the knowledge and skills required for performances of
each officer. Then, the plan was sent to concerned staff members to take part as follows.

2. Training course on “Physiotherapy for the Elderly and Health Promotion” organised by Piyamin
Kunarak School.

3. Online training course on “Training & Coaching HR For New HR” organised by the Institute of HR
Knowledge.

4. Study trip to a project “Give me what you don’t need” at Camillian Lat Krabang.
5. Held a meeting to develop measures to prevent Covid-19 and care and safety of health for

everyone at CSC Rayong.
6. Held meeting to develop annual plan of the Human Resources Department.
7. Provided screening for coronavirus 2019. with ATK test kit every 14th of the month for the staff,

volunteers and executive personnel.
8. Organised activities to build unity and relationships on important occasions, such as
St. Camillus’s Day, National Mother’s Day, “Do good for mothers, big clean up the workshop”,
Loy Krathong Day.
