It combines features of the lute and harp MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS Maracas A maraca, sometimes called shaker or chac-chac, is a rattle which appears in many genres of Caribbean and Latin music. It is shaken by a handle and usually played as part of a pair Mbira Mbira consists of a row of metal strips, used as key, attached to an open-ended wooden gourd or hollow resonator. They keys vary in length, with the longer ones placed in the centre, and each length determines the key's pitch. The shorter the key, the higher the sound, and the longer the key, the lower it will be.
