Our mission is to improve the quality of life for Cambodian Ameri-
cans and other minorities and economically disadvantaged per-
sons in Lowell through educational, cultural, economic and social
programs.

On April 15th, it was my brother birthday.
We gave him presents. We got food and
supplies. I also got him more presents for
him and when we went to party city, we
bought balloon and candy and a playhouse
and fireworks. Then, we brought my brother
to get his cake and candles. 2nd we went
to target to get his other toys. I got a toy
too. Then we went to chuck e cheese. I got
100 tickets. My other brother only got one
tickets we had fun at chuck e cheese.

My Daily Routine

When I wake up, I take a shower, I brush my
teeth, I comb my hair and wear the cloth. After
that, my dad drops me off at school and I go to
study and have fun with my friends. When I come
back, I walk from school to CMAA and they teach
me the Khmer language. Lastly, I go back home,
eat dinner, take a shower and go back to sleep.

The Clock Shop

At midnight, the clock shop would be
close.That’s the time when the clocks are
alive. They dance, they laugh, and they
tick all night.

One clock named Cody Clock that never
partied, liked the other clocks. One night,
the clocks were making fun of Cody Clock.
They called him boring and old. The clocks
were so mean, they pushed him out of the
shelf, and part of his glass had shattered. A
man from the other room woke up and saw
the clock. The man wanted to throw him in
the trash, but when morning hit up, the let-
ter said, “Fix Him”.

So then the man fixed him, and he put the
clock into his room so the clock cannot be
sold.

My name is Kairis Canela. My favorite color
is blue. I like to play video games. I have
one sibling, one sister. I’m 13 years old. I
want to be successful when I grow up. I’m
skillful at mathematics and sports. My fa-
vorite sports are baseball, and football. My
friends are Thavrin Pichack, Mekane Kong,
Ryan Plowman, and more. My favorite
memory was walking around the Father

The Shark and the Fish

Along time ago. The sharks were forbidden to
meet fish, the only way was by hunting them.
One day a baby shark named Fred who was an
orphan found a baby fish that was a orphan too.
The fish said “Please don’t eat me”, Fred then
said “I won’t”, then he asked him “What is your

name”, the fish said
“Jack”. A few minutes
later they became
friends.

They hunted for food and they came across a
teenager shark who started to chase them and
yelled out “Traitor”. They swam as fast as they
could then they hid behind a rock as he was
about to get them the mother shark came in, he
said “I found traitors” then the mother said
“Nonsense”, then Fred and Jack was able to es-
cape and have a great life.

and then starting having a baby. I
( Wealthy Lay) was exited. Then I told my

wants a baby boy.” Then I was mad then
I went in my room and went on my ipad.
Then, I fell asleep and my mom saw me,
then she put a blanket on me and went to
the living room to tell my dad ( Senghok
Heng) that I was asleep...

A few days later… I woke up at 8:05am I
got ready for khmer dance because every
Sunday I go to Ankor Dance Troupe today I
got ready for school then at 3:00 o’clock I
went to boys and girls club and my mom
picked up me, Diana, and Diandra to go to
cmaa. Finally in September my mom gave
birth to Vuochnea, which means moon in
China.

Volleyball
my favorite sport

Hi! My name is Diana Heung, I love playing volleyball!!!! Do you know
why? Well let’s get right into the story, why I love volleyball, first I had a
friend that was an expert at volleyball and her name was Annabel. I play
volleyball with her, when I am bored at the boys and girls club and most-
ly when I go there. I got used to playing volleyball at the club so now I do
everyday at school. I was at school and it was a Tuesday and I had gym
on that day so when I got to gym class I heard that the subject was…
VOLLEYBALL!! I was so excited because I already knew how to play this
so I was happy and because it was now my favorite sport! Once we got
into partners we had to learn how to do the hand motions like the over
hand, the bump , and the claw. I started to get the hang of it that I even
got a compliment from my gym teacher! Which made me feel so proud of
myself because she is an expert at volleyball as well as my friend Annabel
which is also in my gym class. The next day I was at school it was time to
go to go recess and I was so excited because want I wanted to play vol-
leyball for the first time at recess with my friends. This happened for the
whole week and then next week on Tuesday which was gym class, there
was a sign up sheet on the front desk for volleyball and of course I want-
ed to try it out so when it was the end of the school day I got home and
asked my mom if I could do the try outs for volleyball and of course she
said yes because she wants me to do anything that makes me happy,
and yes! I was happy! When it was the day of the try outs I was so nerv-
ous because when I got in the gym I didn’t see anyone my age and my
grade or my friends in there, but then I saw people bringing their gym
bags and I didn’t even know that we were supposed to. Then I was re-
lieved because I started seeing people my age, grade, and of course my
friends but then I also had the feeling that I was going to puke because I
was so nervous, and scared because I thought that I was going to be in
trouble by the gym teacher and the coach. When I told my friends, one of
my friends they said that they had an extra gym bag and I was so re-
lieved again, because she said that I could use it and wear it for now.
When I was done changing I went downstairs and just played regular vol-
leyball with a partner but then it was time to show them how we all serve
liked and I was so nervous and so far some people were doing so good
but then came my turn… We also have to know how to serve over the net
in order to get in the team which made me even more nervous and when
I made my first serve I didn't get it over the net but it was really close
same with the second, third, fourth, and fifth.

After that we had to go meet up
with our coaches so they could
put us in teams for volleyball.

I was put in a really focus, and
hardworking team which made
me very happy and glad that I
had this team after a couple of
teams versing each other it was
our team verses another team
and I got really scared because
one of the coaches said if you
don’t move and play you are not
going in the team so I tried to
move a lot and play a lot. After
we did that we went to go
change to our clothes and me
and our friends kept saying I’m
not going to make it and the
team. After we changed our
coach said that on Tuesday there is going to be a paper in the cafeteria
and it shows and tells us if we are on the team and they will show are
name if we are on the team. My friend Annabel was so scared if she was
not going to make the team and I said that it was going to be okay be-
cause when she served it, it went over the net four times but not the
fifth, and she did really good out there. After that my mom picked me up
and me and my mom talked all about it and I couldn’t wait for Tuesday
to see if my name was on the paper in the café. One week after it was
Tuesday and when it was time for lunch I totally forgot about the paper
and then I remembered but I couldn’t find it anywhere so when I asked
most of my friends they said they and didn’t know and some said I don’t
think so which made me even more scared but when I went to my allied
arts I saw the paper and I said to myself oh so I guess the paper is not
only in the café but it’s other places too. When I looked at the paper I
didn’t see my name and I got really sad and I kept thinking about it but
then when I went home I told my mom, my mom said it’s okay because
you can always try next Year and she also said it’s okay at least you did-
n’t give up. I got really happy and that’s when I learned my lesson to
never give up on something you love!
