HOW CAN THE WATER
EFFECT YOU?

Do you like to swim? If so, would you
want to be swimming in dirty water,
where animals have died…? If you don’t
litter to where it can get in any type of
water.

We (as in everyone) needs to keep the
community nice and clean. Most likely if
it has been like this for centuries, and
centuries, than nothing will change now.

But… we can do a petition to make
people change their way and help
change their world. This would be good
for young kids to consider in changing
the world.

In the picture, this is called water
pollution.

What is so important about the title
“WATER POLLUTION” ?

Well, you can name several reasons
why it is important. I can name a few…

Water pollution damages aquatic
habitats in streams, rivers, lakes, and
oceans. A number of pollutants can
affect aquatic life. Things such as:
detergents, heavy metals, and industrial
chemicals in runoff can cause death in
aquatic organisms.

Abandoned drift nets in oceans have been
known to entangle and kill dolphins, whales,
and other sea life. Plastic bags and other
plastics create BIG, BIG, BIG trash heaps in
the ocean.

Where ever you go it is important not to litter. Why?
Because it can always get into lakes, oceans, river, etc. It can
hurt but mostly it will hurt animals. Also we can die from it.

VOCABULARY:
LITTER: SOMETHING SOME PEOPLE DO AND JUST LEAVE TRASH
OR THROW IT ON THE GROUND.
COMMUNITY: SOMEWHERE YOU LIVE, LIKE YOUR
NEIGHBORHOOD.
CENTURIES: TEN YEARS
PETITION: A PAPER YOU ASK PEOPLE TO SIGN TO MAKE
SOMETHING HAPPEN, LIKE A CONTRACT WITH SOMEONE.
CONSIDER: CHANGE SOMEONE'S MIND, RETHINK SOMETHING.
AQUATIC: AQUA MEANS WATER.
POLLUTANTS: SOMETHING DANGEROUS LIKE A POTION.
ORGANISMS: ANIMALS, SPECIES, ETC.
HEAPS: A SYNONYM FOR THIS WORD IS A WHOLE LOT OF.
