Which urban legend will you choose to believe?

Or can you help solve the mystery of the meaning behind Loretta Hall?

What is an urban legend? As defined by the astute Merriam-Webster dictionary, it is an often lurid story or anecdote
that is based on hearsay and widely circulated as true. Since my arrival to BMC seven years ago, I have personally
made it a goal to find the meaning behind the name of Loretta Hall. Every year at homecoming, I will seek out the
most senior reunion class and ask if they have any recollections. Each time I encounter a member of the proud Hornet
alumni base out and about town, I ask the same question…do you know why the building is called Loretta Hall?
I even met with both the archivist for the Diocese of Orlando and the historian of the Sisters of St. Joseph in
St. Augustine. Not one person has a definitive and factual answer. What follows are the most popular legends.

Loretta Hall was named Father Caulfield decided to name the former

ENDOWMENTS

The Office of Advancement is proud to oversee a growing number of named endowment funds that have been established to
provide financial assistance to students who wish to attend Bishop Moore Catholic. Each year a defined portion of the fund
is awarded while the principal investment is held “in perpetuity” so that the vision of the donors will continue to make a
difference at BMC. These funds have been established by alumni, parents, & friends of our school.
If you are interested in establishing a named endowment fund or contributing to an existing endowment,
please contact Marvin Snyder, Vice President of Advancement, 407-293-7561 (349) or [email protected].

THE MOORE CENTER FOR EXCELLENCE FALL OF 2019!

CONCEPT
DESIGN

We are grateful for the history and tradition of the Bishop Moore Catholic community engagement and support. Many
in our community participated in a feasibility study last year and shared their preferences for improving BMC for our
students today and tomorrow. The Moore Center for Excellence was noted as a community priority and, did you
know, BMC quietly launched a capital campaign to achieve this?

We have developed plans to construct this new,
state-of-the-art 26,000+ sq. ft. multi-purpose facility
which will include:

· 7 NEW CLASSROOMS to enhance our science curriculum including the preparation of students for careers
in the medical field.
· A FITNESS CENTER to encourage our students to engage in a healthy lifestyle
· A FLEXIBLE SPACE in which the Campus Ministry team can host retreats, as well as offer opportunities for
students to encounter Christ and grow in relationship with Him.
· A RECEPTION HALL with a fully-equipped catering kitchen that can host events for alumni, students, parents,
and donors.
· A SCHOOL STORE stocking all your favorite Hornet apparel.

To date, the campaign has raised a school record of more than $2.85 million since the quiet phase began in 2018!
We thank our lead donors who have responded so generously to this campaign initiative. There is still more to do,
and we would love for you to be engaged in this historic endeavor. Our goal for the Moore Center for Excellence
provides the opportunity for each of our alumni, parents, and benefactors to invest in the future of Catholic education
in Central Florida. Your support is critical to our success, please join us in making the Moore Center for Excellence a reality!

Make your gift today! www.bishopmoore.org/BuildingMoore

If you have any questions about the campaign or how you can get involved, please contact Marvin Snyder,
Vice President of Advancement, at 407.293.7561 ext. 349 for more details.

Thank you to our generous donors who have made
a difference in the lives of the students we serve.

Grandparents play a special role in the development of our students and we are grateful for their generous support.

Save-the-date for Sunday, February 2, 2020 and join other enthusiastic grandparents as they visit Bishop Moore Catholic
for the annual Grandparents Mass and Brunch to spend time with their grandchildren.

Children’s children are the crown of the elderly, and the glory of children is their parentage.

VIVOS CHRISTI SOCIETY

Who Should Be Your Retirement Beneficiary?
The IRS or Bishop Moore Catholic?

I Choose Bishop Moore Catholic!

Here’s why you might want to choose Bishop Moore Catholic

Your retirement plan is always subject to federal and state (if applicable) income taxes.
And, for some us, even estate taxes. These taxes can significantly shrink what’s left for
your family compared to other estate assets.

Here’s another option* Hornet Legacy
Society Membership
Designate Bishop Moore Catholic as the beneficiary of all, or part of, your retirement
accounts (IRAs, 401(k)s, 403(b)s - even life insurance policies) and the proceeds will Anonymous
come to us tax-free! Then, make sure your after-tax assets, like bank accounts, stock or Mike & Teri Baker
real estate, pass to your heirs through your will or trust.

Your loved ones may receive more from your non-retirement estate assets, and Bishop Eugene Boylston ✞
Moore Catholic will benefit, too! And it’s easy to do. Simply complete a beneficiary Mrs. Joan Bunning ✞
designation form with your retirement account administrator or life insurance agent. Mrs. Rosa DeFalco ✞

Help complete the picture.

A gift to the annual fund touches lives, opens doors, makes dreams come true, and helps develop
Catholic leaders. Your generosity impacts every student and all aspects of the school,
including academics, athletics, financial aid, technology, extra-curricular activities,
fine and performing arts, campus ministry, and more. Most importantly, a gift to the
Fund for Bishop Moore Catholic allows us to respond to our most pressing
concerns while also providing the flexibility for unique and important opportunities.
