HIGH PERFORMANCE

NEW MARKETING STRATEGY
DEVELOPED FOR PHARR HP

How would you describe Pharr High Performance business to someone? As we began to work on
the new Pharr parent company brand strategy, it became apparent that we also needed to create a
new marketing strategy for Pharr HP. There was a need to craft the right verbiage, develop the right
name and logo, and create the right look that represents the rare attributes of Pharr HP. So, a few
months ago, we embarked on a project to develop the Pharr HP brand story and evaluate new ways
to market the high performance yarn business. We wanted the message to be one that was humble,
authentic and evoked emotion. It had to portray the unique attributes of Pharr High Performance, and
something that everyone could relate to. Read the new brand story below...

In addition to the new brand story, we also developed a new logo. Pharr HP needed its own identity
when the new parent brand was developed. We had to decide on a name. Ultimately, we decided
to utilize the name that was used internally already – Pharr HP. We also retained the use of the new
Pharr parent logo as an integral part of the new HP logo. It was important to keep the brand name and
recognition tied to the Pharr parent brand.

We are proud of the new marketing strategy that has been developed for Pharr HP, and we are
looking forward to what the future holds for Pharr High Performance.

PHARR BELIEVES IN SUSTAINABILITY…

PHARR FIBERS & YARNS RECYCLING PROGRAM

Did you know Pharr Fibers & Yarns uses 20,000,000 pounds of recycled
post-consumer plastic bottles in the production of our PET fiber
produced each year? We also recycle 550,000 pounds of cardboard
each year. We care about sustainability and saw a need to start a
recycling program to positively impact the environment.

In 2006, Pharr Fibers & Yarns began extruding polyester bcf yarn. It
was a great opportunity for us to bring more value to the market and an
opportunity to help improve the environment because we use the same
polyester polymer to produce our carpet fiber as the manufacturers
of drink bottles. Over the last several years we have used millions
of pounds of recycled post-consumer bottle polymer to produce our
industry leading polyester bcf carpet yarns. The industry in 2008 was
achieving a recycled content of 20%. Pharr Fibers and Yarns set a goal
of achieving a product that utilized Post-Consumer Recycled PET at
100%, and was competitive in the marketplace. In a partnership with a
supplier we developed a product that is used today. It is used in over
30% of our residential carpet yarn.

Our cardboard is baled and sold to a cardboard manufacturer. They
return it to us in the form of recycled yarn paper tubes that we use.
Additionally, 100,000 pounds of polyethylene film / stretch wrap, is
recycled each year.

In 2014, Pharr Fibers & Yarns was looking for ways to become more
competitive and innovative. As a result, Pharr Fibers & Yarns decided
to start a recycling operation of our own and invested in equipment to
recycle re-workable carpet yarn internally. All re-workable fiber and yarn
is recycled back into 1st quality material, packaging, non-woven fabrics,
and apparel fiber.

The recycling program at Pharr Fibers & Yarns started with a goal of
improving sustainability, reducing cost, and providing job opportunities
for our community. With a couple of years of hard work and dedication,
from our small team - Pharr Recycling’s dream has become a reality.
We continuously look for ways to expand recycling activities into new
products and processes and to improve the cost and performance of
their products. Pharr Fibers & Yarns recycles staggering amounts of
product each year. The numbers speak for themselves. The recycling
program is another example of innovation and perseverance that we all
share as part of Pharr, a family of companies. It is a source of pride for
us all.

Pharr High Performance was pleased to participate
in Gaston College’s Textile Day Open House.
Gaston College started Textile Days to improve
the image of textiles in the local region and to
help bring interest to students who in turn may
pursue a career in textiles. Attendees learn about
cutting edge technologies used to manufacture

LAUNCH OF PHARR FOCUS

OUR NEW COMMUNICATION TOOL

The family of companies that make up Pharr include Strand, Pharr Fibers FOCUS
& Yarns, Pharr High Performance, Phenix and Belmont Land. Pharr, a
family of companies, is invested in bridging the gap of communication
between its five companies. We wanted a way to communicate with
each other seamlessly and connect all five brands. A huge way to
promote communication is with an intranet. An intranet is a private
network accessible only to an organization’s staff. Our company wide
intranet is named “Pharr Focus”.

We want Pharr Focus to be a central location for all Pharr associates
to Focus their attention for forms, documents, company news, etc.
Many hours were spent planning and gathering content for the launch
of Pharr Focus. Pharr Focus was launched at the end of September,
beginning of October and has received great feedback. When
you access Pharr Focus, you can find company news, family news,
marketing information, human resource information, and so much more!
In the future, we believe Pharr Focus will become an integral part of
each associates’ day to day process to complete and support their job
functions. To access Pharr Focus,
visit https://pharrfocus.myhubintranet.com.

COMPANY STORE

Pharr associates take great pride in working for such
a wonderful company and want to spread the story of
Pharr. Although sometimes associates receive Pharr
apparel and promotional items as gifts, there hasn’t been
a way to order Pharr branded items. Pharr recognized
that more branded apparel options were desired by
associates, so a solution was created, our new Company
Store. The Company Store offers branded items from
the family company of your choice: Pharr, Pharr Fibers
& Yarns, Pharr HP, Phenix and Strand. There are items
to suit every price range. You can purchase umbrellas,
polos, rain jackets, Tervis Tumblers, coffee mugs and
many more items. For more information on the Company

HUMAN RESOURCES

HEALTH RISK ASSESSMENTS

For the first time in company history, Pharr provided Health Risk Assessments for all associates that
participate in the Aetna Medical Plan in October. Pharr is dedicated to associate wellness and health
education. The Health Risk Assessments are part of a partnership with Hamilton Convenient Care
and Gaston Family Health Services. This was an excellent opportunity for associates to get a wellness
check free of charge and at their place of work. The Health Risk Assessment provided associates
with their total cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure, resting pulse and Body Mass Index. Health
education was provided to each associate on an individual basis depending on their results.
Associates’ spouses were also encouraged to participate. The HRA was optional but many associates
won prizes for signing up and participating.

EDUCATION ASSISTANCE

In an effort to enhance knowledge and career skills, Pharr encourages associates to pursue additional
formal education, thus improving potential for future opportunities and potential benefit to Pharr.
Pharr may reimburse education costs such as courses, certifications and degrees. Before partaking
in this program, the courses must be approved by the company. The approval will be based on the
education pursued and its relevance to the associate’s current or future position. The associate must
be meeting expectations or exceeding in his or her current role to obtain approval for assistance.
Pharr also encourages associates seeking a high school diploma equivalent to test and obtain a GED.
If you wish to take advantage of these fantastic opportunities, please contact a member of Human
Resources at your location.

BLOOD DRIVE AT PHENIX FLOORING

Every year, Phenix Flooring partners with Blood Assurance to host a blood drive at the Dalton campus.
Blood Assurance is a non-profit, full service regional blood center serving 51 counties and more than
76 health care facilities in Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, Alabama and Virginia. This Blood
Drive is made possible by Blood Assurance’s Bloodmobile that parks on campus during the event.
Blood drives give associates the opportunity to give back to their community by replenishing supplies
used by area patients and local hospitals. Each participant will receive a t-shirt provided by Blood
Assurance. Participants will be entered to win a $25 Walmart gift card provided by Phenix. The blood
drive will take place on December 27th and 29th.

PHARR BELIEVES IN PREVENTION
