Learn about color, line, texture, shapes and more as we make art based on our feathered friends, birds. We will
have a great time playing games and reading stories that are related to our project of the day. Kids will be
encouraged to be creative as we have fun painting parrots, decorating bird houses, and building birds nests.

projects this year and different master artwork to inspire us. We will paint a seascape with beautiful light like

artworks without bright colors! Our artworks will be drawn from life, from photographs, and even from our

In this workshop we will explore beginner aspects of photography for digital Single Lens Reflex cameras. This
class is designed as a first step in photography. Learn how to use your camera as a tool for expression. We will
examine how the selection of shutter speeds and apertures can transform your images. In addition, lighting
demonstrations will teach you how to see and control light. Students are encouraged to bring any digital
cameras they have access to and want to learn how to use. We also examine some basic functions of our camera.
Class will include instructional time with visual examples/powerpoint, class shooting, then review/viewing of
class images. Please bring your digital camera.

Join us to learn about advanced sculpture techniques including building your own armature from wire to
support larger figures with Sculpey (oven bakes) clay, creating a large armature with a base to cover with Paris
Craft plaster material and paint the finished sculpture with acrylic paint, and creating a design for a One Inch
thick relief sculpture using plaster of Paris and fine artist's carving tools. Explore modeling, building and
carving all in one fabulous sculpture class!

Campers will be using the concept of perspective drawing in fun and imaginative ways while using a variety of
materials and textures. We will create 1 and 2 point perspective designs with fun contemporary pop-art flare!
Create a cityscape, a giant being that breaks the framing-edge of your artwork, and intricate designs using your
name. Learn how artists use perspective in landscapes, and how they fool-the-eye using perspective in their
designs. Students will draw, paint, sculpt and use mixed media while learning valuable skills.

Build a Portfolio of Fine Finished Paintings by delving deeper into the techniques of Watercolor, Dry Pastel,
and Acrylic Painting. We will focus on only three techniques in order to gain a deeper understanding of the
merits of each media. Choose a different subject for each work, or choose a single subject to explore in three
different ways! Each student will choose the subject of their artworks and we will discuss the merits of each
media to plan ahead. Bring photographs of animals, people, landscapes, seascapes, still lifes, etc. to work from.
It is best to have clear, full color, HARD COPY photos to work from as working off of a phone is small and
difficult. Expand your knowledge of the fine art of painting!

Origami is magical! Folding a square sheet of paper, it turns into animals, flowers, geometric forms and more.
Kid artists will learn how to fold 2-3 different kinds of figures in each class. They will enjoy art of following

background illustration.

In "The Illustrated Adventure," we'll start camp each day with an interactive group story time, with a book
selected for the day’s theme. From there, we’ll move on to an art project, song or game inspired by the story.
Campers will perform with puppets and create fabric sculptures and edible art. We will explore the
components of the physical book, as well as different types of picture books, including wordless, concept,
narratives and those told in verse, rhyme or prose. We will end each day with quiet time--a chance for campers
to read a book they have chosen from the class library.

The week's five themes are: Incredible Critters, Impossible Pets, Cook Books and Books with Cooks, Amazing
Artists, and Camp Favorites. Campers who took "The Illustrated Adventure" in 2018 should register for "The
Illustrated Adventure Continued."

today as they listen to a book, view images, and create and imagine! Children will make masks, design shields,
and super hero sidekicks. Each child is encouraged to imagine themselves as Heroes and create artwork using a
variety of art mediums. Their self esteem will build as their ideas come to life in this hands-on class which
allows kids to gain confidence and express themselves in a fun, colorful way. Price includes $10 materials fee

Lets build an arty bridge between the east and west!! In this class, kid artists will experiment Eastern Asian
calligraphy art using a sumi brush on washi paper. Pitch black sumi brush strokes make beautiful texture.
Then they will reuse the washi paper into Origami. Origami is art form of folding and creating figures. They
will make animals, flowers, geometric figures and more.

Explore the wonderful world of Multiple Original artworks from one idea! Students will learn about relief
printmaking in wood, linoleum and rubber blocks, as well as engraving in plastic plates to create delicate
designs pulled through a small printing press. Students will work in single color and well as multiple color
designs and learn how to "register" the layered colors of a reduction prints. Come ready with ideas that you
would like to print. Bring photos of animals, plants, objects, and patterns to help us get off to a running start on
day one!

Teaching Artist: Virginia Manning

In "The Illustrated Adventure--II," we will start camp each day with an interactive group story time, with a
book selected for the theme of the day. From there, we will move on to an art project, game or song inspired by
the story. Campers will create pop-up illustrations, fabric sculptures, and masks. We will discuss the role of the
author, illustrator and publisher and the key elements of a story—character, setting, and conflict. We’ll end the
day with quiet time--a chance for campers to read a book chosen from the class library.

The five themes of "The Illustrated Adventure-II" are: Mythical Creatures, Urban Birds, A Is for Aliens,
Monster Mayhem, and Creatures of the Deep.

Explore the world of the "Tea Cup" creation! We will use clay, wire, string, yarn, beads, and various other
materials to create Miniature Environments and "Tea Cup" decorations. Learn to use a variety of tools to
fashion tiny versions of normal objects and figures. Using wire and string, we can make a whole
landscape...using Sculpey clay, we can create a picnic in a tea cup...using fabric and thread, we can make tiny
critters! It takes a Big Imagination to make a Tiny Art Works!
