Plans to let learner drivers have motorway driving lessons revealed
Learnerdriverswillbeable to take driving lessons on motorways before passing their driving test under new plans set outtoday(30December2016) by Transport Minister Andrew Jones.
only have driving lessons on motorways after you’ve passed your driving test. Some newly- quali ed drivers take lessons through the voluntary Pass Plus scheme.
Voluntary motorway lessons with a quali ed instructor
Under the new plans, learner drivers would need to be:
• accompaniedbyan
approved driving instructor • drivingacar ttedwithdual
Any motorways lessons would be voluntary. It would be up to the driving instructor to decide when the learner driver is competent enough to have a motorway lesson.
Any change to the law would bewell-publicisedbefore coming into effect. Until then, it’s still illegal for a learner driver
Driving instructor training and vehicles
TheDepartmentfor Transport is also asking for viewsonwhether:
• thecurrentdrivinginstructor
training and testing system gives instructors the skills they need to provide motorway lessons to learner drivers
• specially-adaptedvehicles must be tted with dual controls if they’re used for motorway lessons
• L plate roofboxes on cars must be removed before a motorway lesson
Better prepared for a lifetime of safe driving
Allowing learner drivers to have lessons on motorways will help to make sure more drivers know how to use motorways safely.
The changes will allow learner drivers to:
• getbroaderdriving
experience before taking their driving test
• gettrainingonhowtojoin and leave the motorway, overtake and use lanes correctly
• practicedrivingathigher speeds
• puttheirtheoretical knowledgeintopractice
Right skills and understanding
The proposed changes will help to contribute towards the government’scommitmentto reduce the number of people killed and seriously injured on our roads, and ensure safer journeys.
Transport Minister, Andrew Jones, said: “We have some of the safest roads in the world and we want to make them even safer.
These changes will equip learners with a wider range of experience and greater skill set which will improve safety levels on our roads.”
RAC Foundation Director, Steve Gooding, said: “The casualtystatisticstellusthat motorways are our safest roads, but they can feel anything but safe to a newly quali ed driver heading down the slip road for the rst time to join a fast moving, often heavy, ow of traf c.
Many are so intimidated by the motorway environment that they choose instead to use statistically more dangerous roads, so we welcome this move which will help new drivers get the training they need to use motorways safely.”

The rise and rise of Lei Shing Hong
Global automotive retailing group, Lei Shing Hong, acquired its rst Mercedes- Benz dealership 45-years ago, marking the beginning of a long and prosperous journey for Lei Shing Hong, now the world’s largest dealer group for Mercedes-Benz passenger vehicles.
Today the automotive arm of Lei Shing Hong operates 143 Mercedes-Benz dealerships all over the globe. In fact you will nd dealerships owned by the business in Australia, China, Vietnam and Cambodia, South Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia and Hong Kong with the UK joining the list this year - and in 2015 a total of 159,464 vehicles were sold worldwide by the business.
In 2016 the business acquired 10 dealerships in the UK, located in the Birmingham and Manchester areas.
At each dealership Lei Shing Hong works in close partnership with the Mercedes-Benz dealers, from the friendly and knowledgeable sales executives to the expert Mercedes-Benz
trained technicians, thus ensuring all customers continue to receive the best possible service. This also means customers who may have visited these dealerships before will be sure to see the same familiar faces, and Lei Shing Hong never under-estimates the value of the experience of the team.
This commitment to providing the highest-level of customer service is central to the core values of Lei Shing Hong, and the business prides itself on developing the successful customer relationships at all its dealerships.
The premium service is mirrored with the premium cars available to all customers. As the world’s largest Mercedes- Benz retailer there is a level
of dedication, knowledge
and experience to providing everything required by a customer that is often unrivalled.
So while rst class customer service is an essential aspect of the consumer experience at all Lei Shing Hong dealerships, the business also continually strives
to build long-term value for all customers providing the best – and most suitable – products and offers for everyone that walks through the door. This promise of long-term value
is held in high esteem by the whole business and extends
to all employees, a vital and central part of every dealership, as well as business partners, shareholders and the wider society.
Central to the operation of all Lei Shing Hong dealerships, as well as all the wider business arms, is an ethos to ensure each is run in an environmentally and socially responsible manner
in keeping with all other core values and goals.
While the Automobile Division is the single largest business unit within the Lei Shing Hong Group, there are ve core businesses (held through wholly own subsidiaries incorporated in Hong Kong). These span across a wide range of areas covering; the development
and management of premium grade retail and commercial facilities; the provision of specialist nancial services
in asset backed nance and investment and services; trade in commodities specialising in wood-based products, watch components, fertilizers; and Lei Shing Hong is the world’s largest dealer of Caterpillar hydraulic excavators.

New vehicle tax rates
The way vehicle tax is calculated will change for cars and some motor homes that are rst registered with DVLA from 1 April 2017.
Here is what you need to know if you’re thinking about buying a new vehicle.
You’re not affected if your vehicle was registered before 1 April 2017 - check your vehicle tax rate at uk/vehicle-tax-rate-tables/ vehicles-registered-on-or- after-1-april-2017 to nd out how much you’ll need to pay.
The new rates
The amount you pay the rst time you tax your vehicle is based on CO2 emissions. Check the vehicle tax rate tables to nd out how much you need to pay.
The amount you pay the second time you tax the vehicle depends on the type of vehicle. You’ll pay:
• £140 a year for normal petrol
or diesel vehicles
• £130 a year for alternative fuel vehicles (hybrids, bi- ethanol and LPG)
• £0 a year for vehicles with zero CO2 emissions
New vehicles that cost more than £40,000
If you buy a vehicle with a list price (the published price before any discounts) of more than £40,000, you’ll pay a rate based on CO2 emissions the
rst time it’s taxed.
When you tax it for the
second time you’ll pay one of the new rates (depending on the vehicle) and an additional rate of £310 a year for the next 5 years.
After 5 years, your vehicle will then be taxed at one of the new rates again.
Check the list price with your dealer so you know how much vehicle tax you’ll have to pay.

Celerio – ‘Best Buy’ City Car at What Car? Awards
First launched in the UK two years ago, the Suzuki Celerio has been awarded a ‘Best Buy’ accolade at the 2017 What Car? Awards held in London. At £6,999, the SZ2 model was comprehensively judged by the editorial team and announced as the best overall model in
its price bracket of less than £8,000.
Readers of What Car? regularly ask the team to assist with advice on their next new car and in the case of needing something small, cheap to buy and run and also easy to drive, Celerio is very high on the list.
Commenting at the awards, Steve Huntingford, Editor of What Car? said “Nothing else

in this class offers so much for so little, just £7000 is enough to land you our lowest price point winner. At that price you’d expect an empty box
on wheels, right? Wrong. This entry level SZ2 trim isn’t the plushest, but how about this lot: a height-adjustable driver’s seat and steering wheel, split- folding rear seats, electric front windows, a DAB radio and six airbags? Best of all, you get a sprightly three-cylinder petrol engine that’ll easily whizz you around town, with enough in reserve for 70mph cruising on the motorway. And it emits just 99g/km of CO2, so is exempt from road tax.
Drivers can easily get
comfy thanks to lots of seat adjustment, and it’s dead easy to see all the car’s corners when parking. There’s a surprising amount of space for all four passengers, and the boot is bigger than most city cars”.
Celerio is proving to be very popular in the UK with more than 16,500 sold since launch and the SZ2 is available from just £79 per month with a PCP (Personal Contract Purchase) agreement from Suzuki Financial Services. The term
is 48 months at 5.9 per cent APR and requires a deposit of £1,855 with an optional nal payment of £2,228 to keep the car.

FBTC Accountancy Services: Annual UK Driving Instructor Review 2017
..Introduction and Commentary
At FBTC we’ve been providing Accountancy Services to UK Driving Instructors for over 20
years and in that time we’ve witnessed an enormous amount of change within the industry. FBTC saw a need
to provide independent and authoritative analysis and comment on the health of the UK Driver Training sector and last year launched the Annual UK Driving Instructor Review.
As the UK’s leading provider of Accountancy Services to the UK Driver Training Industry, FBTC is
in a unique position to be able to provide such insight. FBTC client con dentiality
is paramount, we therefore gathered information by surveying a random sample of Independent and Franchised Instructors from all corners
of the UK and the information gathered from participants will only ever be used on an aggregated basis.
This year’s study provides a fascinating insight into Driving Instructor’s workload, earnings and level of job satisfaction and the year on year comparisons shed light on a dynamic and evolving marketplace.
Busy...too busy?
We are pleased to report that Instructors are still currently averaging 29.4 hours of paid-for tuition
on a weekly basis, with those operating within a Franchise typically working an additional 2 hours per week compared to their Independent counterparts.
We note that this gure excludes travel time and expect that Instructors will
be spending a minimum of at least ve and a half additional hours per week travelling
to collect students. Of real concern is the small minority of Instructors who report an average of 50 or more paid-
for hours each week. This surely impacts upon lesson quality and we’d question whether such Instructors are able to deliver great value- for-money for each of their students. Furthermore, by applying the same formula for travel time, these Instructors are driving or teaching for nearly 60 hours per week, which would be deemed illegal, unsafe or unsound
in some other commercial sectors.
“Because we’re worth it”
The national average hourly rate (after deducting the cost of lesson offers and discounts) is £24.85 and we are delighted to report that this represents an £1.83
per hour increase over last year and an annual growth rate of 7.9% which shows that shrewd Instructors are pitching their prices to exploit the relatively high levels of student demand.
Female Instructors have done especially well and are reporting a 10.9% average hourly rate price increase over this time last year.
Working smarter and sometimes harder
Female Instructors, having increased both their number of hours worked and their hourly rate, are the big winners, reporting a year on year average gross income rise of £123.10 per week. This takes the reported average weekly gross income to £754.53 which is £35 more than male Instructors on
a similar number of hours worked.
Franchised Instructors have reduced their average working week from 32.4 hours to 30 but have maintained
a similar level of income by increasing their hourly rate prices. Franchised Instructors report an incremental £1.51 per hour compared to their independent counterparts.
14 theADIFORUM •

Reasons to be cheerful.
1. 15% of Instructors are now achieving a gross income of £1000 or more per week. But we note that working long hours is the main contributory factor and our advice is to work smarter and not harder.
2. Fuel prices are still lower than last year which improves Instructors’ net earnings
3. 93% of Driving Instructors are “satis ed” with their job. Furthermore, 39% report a “very high level
of satisfaction”. These are extremely healthy gures and especially pleasing as academic studies correlate job satisfaction with customer satisfaction. With this in mind it is likely that most Driving Instructors surveyed will be providing a very positive learning experience for customers.
4. The majority of the UK’s
Driving Instructors see their earnings increasing over the next 12 months. We suspect that Instructors
in most areas of the UK
are currently experiencing high levels of student demand and are gearing up to raise their hourly rates
to capitalise upon this buoyant market.
We hope that this insight
is of interest to the various stakeholders within the UK Driver Training sector and we look forward to further debate on the topics raised.

In November 2016 a questionnaire was emailed to over 20,000 Driving Instructors who operate throughout the UK.
Within this group, existing FBTC Members were also
asked to complete the survey. The survey was conducted
on an anonymous basis and the results will only be used on an aggregated basis.
Be aware that questionnaire completion was skewed towards Male, Franchised and Southern Instructors.

Gross Weekly Income
UK Driving Instructors are earning an average of £730.59 per week which represents an increase of £44.59 per week and 6.5% more than previous year. This is a gross gure achieved by multiplying hours worked and hourly rate.
Female Instructors have reported a startling year on year weekly gross income increase of 19.5% which
has been achieved through
a combination of both a signi cantly increased hourly rate and also an increase in the number of hours worked.
The 6.9% year on year hourly rate increase reported by Franchised Instructors is offset by a reduction in hours worked which manifests in a marginal year on year reduction in gross weekly income. But it is worth noting that Franchised Instructors still report an £90.69 per week higher average gross weekly income than their Independent counterparts.

Kia releases rst images of all-new Picanto
Kia Motors has today released images of the all-new Picanto, the third-generation of one of Kia’s global best-selling cars.
Created by Kia’s design centres in Namyang, Korea
and Frankfurt, Germany, the new Picanto brings youthful and energetic character to the A-segment. The all-new model – revealed in Kia’s sports- inspired ‘GT-Line’ speci cation – conveys a more assertive
stance through bolder body lines and subtly sculpted surfaces. A 15 mm-longer wheelbase (2,385 mm to 2,400 mm) also pushes the wheels further out into each corner for a more con dent appearance.
18 theADIFORUM •

The Picanto’s colour palette is more vibrant than ever, with a range of bold paint colours designed to make the car stand out.
Inside, Picanto’s suite
of high-tech comfort, convenience and safety features is underscored by a modern and re ned new cabin design. At the heart of the cabin is a new ‘ oating’
touchscreen infotainment system, making the latest in-car technology available to occupants.
Buyers of the all-new Picanto will enjoy smarter packaging ef ciency than ever before, with more cabin and cargo space than rivals in the segment. In spite of its extended wheelbase,
the Picanto retains its
characteristically compact dimensions. With a shorter front overhang and longer rear overhang, the all-new model is the same length (3,595 mm) as the car it replaces.
Kia will reveal the all-new Picanto in public for the rst time at the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show in March, and will go on sale in the Spring of 2017.

Volkswagen kicks off the new year with strong Golf offer
Volkswagen Retailers
are beginning 2017 with a particularly eye-catching offer: a £3,250 saving on the Golf hatchback. The Volkswagen Golf leads its class thanks to
its high levels of technology and overall quality. Now the incredible value of this big- selling model is boosted further.
This offer runs until 3 April and applies to all trim levels of the Golf hatchback including the headline-grabbing high performance Golfs. This includes the legendary Golf GTI, the rapid Golf GTD and the agship Golf R with 4MOTION four-wheel drive.
The range begins with the Golf S, which costs from

Safety is enhanced with Electronic Stability Control and traction control. In the front, driver’s and front passenger’s airbags are combined with a driver’s knee airbag and front seat side impact airbags. And both front and rear passengers bene t from a curtain airbag system.
The Golf Match Edition adds executive-car features including radar-assisted Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) that takes the strain out of driving in urban traf c and on the motorway. Automatic driving lights add to the inherent safety of the Golf, as do rain-sensing automatic windscreen wipers. the arrival of the new Match Edition, which adds £350 worth of equipment for just £50.
Included are heated door mirrors that fold electronically and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror. Automatic windscreen wipers plus front and rear parking sensors increase the technology count. The Polo Match Edition starts at £13,315 RRP OTR.
The Volkswagen up! is a cheeky city car with a big personality. Fresh interior
and exterior designs were introduced in 2016 and the revamped up! package remains at the forefront of its class. This is demonstrated by its all-new smartphone integration system. The driver or passenger
simply places their compatible smartphone into the up!’s dash-mounted docking system and then the functionality of the smartphone, including music and contacts, becomes accessible through the car’s speakers and steering wheel controls.
In fact, accessibility is what the up! is all about and so now the Move up! and High up!
trims are available with a £500 deposit contribution at 4.6 % APR representative. The Move up! starts at £10,025 RRP OTR and the High up!, which adds front fog lights, electrically heated and adjustable door mirrors and a leather trimmed three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, starts at £11,580 RRP OTR. The up! beats brings a powerful sound system to the stylish supermini and this trim is now available with free insurance for over 19s.
At the other end of the Volkswagen range is the impressive Touareg. This luxury SUV has two engine options. Both power plants
are 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesels with eight-speed automatic tiptronic gearboxes. The 262 PS version is available with a £6,000 deposit contribution
at 5.9 % APR representative1, while the 204 PS example is available with a £4,000 deposit contribution.
The Touareg is now available with xed price servicing which gives customers peace of
mind and a predictable cost
of ownership. The servicing cost includes parts, labour and VAT. Collectively, the deposit contribution and xed price servicing represent outstanding value from Volkswagen.
In summary, all of these offers demonstrate that outstanding value is there to be enjoyed right across the Volkswagen range. The Tiguan, Golf, Polo, up! and Touareg all feature high technology, strong dynamics, class-leading quality and long lists of standard equipment and, therefore, the value proposition attached to each car is almost unbeatable. • theADIFORUM 21

This sales momentum capped a superb year for Vauxhall’s family hatchback, having built up an impressive list of accolades including 2016 European Car of Year, a game- changer award from Autocar and category wins at the Auto Express, What Car? and Fleet News awards.
In Scotland, Vauxhall was the largest selling manufacturer, according to gures released by the Scottish Motor Trade Association. Vauxhall has been

“The Astra is the best family car on the market,” said Rory Harvey, Vauxhall’s Chairman and Managing Director. “After winning a host of top awards, 2016 was the new Astra’s rst full year on the market and I am very pleased to see it top its segment in the fourth quarter and the second half of the year. All-new Nissan Micra: The revolution has begun
There is only one word to describe the all-new Nissan Micra – revolutionary. Now
in its fth generation, this
new model is a massive progression from the one it is replacing, and from the trio of highly successful superminis which date back to the Micra’s debut in Europe in 1983.
The new Micra is longer, wider and lower than ever before. The car has been repositioned at the very heart of the ultra-competitive European B-hatchback segment.
Conceived, designed
and engineered with those customers’ requirements at the top of the agenda, Nissan has a clear ambition for the new Micra; it should re-establish itself inside the top 10 sellers in the segment, and compete head-to-head with the best and most popular in the class. Benchmarked against key rivals, Nissan believes the all- new Micra meets and exceeds its targets.
Key to its appeal is the car’s athletic and expressive exterior design, which moves the Micra name plate in a daring new direction. The contemporary look and premium feel continues inside, with a high- quality cabin that boasts two-tone soft-touch materials as standard across the
range. Thanks to outstanding packaging, the ve-door-only body shell boasts best-in- class ergonomics for front seat occupants, with no
compromise to rear passenger space. The boot is big enough to easily cater for customers’ needs.
The all-new Nissan Micra is also a technology leader, with a number of ‘in-control’ features – the sort usually associated with more expensive models
– now available for the rst time. Not only are they new
crossovers – is also available on the Micra for the rst time. These and other technologies are a clear demonstration of Nissan Intelligent Mobility, the brand’s vision for a zero emissions and zero fatalities future.
For music fans, a highlight of the new Micra will be the BOSE Personal audio system.

Unique to the B-hatchback segment, advanced speakers built into the driver’s head rest put the driver at the heart of the listening experience.
The all-new Nissan Micra is also a fantastic car to drive, with a dynamic performance that is the perfect balance between agility, excitement and the secure feeling that

It’s also clear evidence
of how the customer is at the centre of this latest chapter in the Micra success story. Intelligent Get&Go provides increased access to the new Micra through its innovative digital partnering of consumers. This allows them to bene t from great value leasing rates which are fully aligned to their motoring requirements.
Guillaume Cartier, Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing at Nissan Europe, commented: “We have taken the European compact car segment to a new level by focusing on what customers really want today and expect tomorrow. The all-new Nissan Micra is an exceptional car, characterised by its expressive design, uplifting interior and con dent drive.”
He added: “There is so much affection in Europe
for the Micra, clearly demonstrated by more than three decades of heritage
and more than 3.5 million sales. It was famously the rst Japanese model to win the European Car of the Year title in 1993.”
The 2017 European Car of the Year is very much on the radar for the new Micra, with the car having been selected as one of the seven nalist models. The winner will be announced at the Geneva Motor Show on 7 March.

Customers’ desires to express their own personalities and design tastes through
the new Micra will be another part of its appeal. The car
will be available with a wide
range of personalisation options, modifying the exterior and interior with premium components in a variety of stylish and contemporary colours.
Nissan’s brand promise – Innovation that Excites – is evident in every part of the new Micra, and nowhere is that more obvious than with Nissan Intelligent Get&Go.

Dacia Sandero retains crown at What Car? Awards fth consecutive year
The Dacia Sandero has been awarded ‘Best Small Car for less than £12,000’ for the fth consecutive year by What Car? at an awards ceremony in London this evening.
The Sandero rst picked up the award in 2013, following Dacia’s entrance into the
UK car market, and again
in 2014, 2015 and 2016. Having undergone a series of recent updates for the 2017 Model Year, the supermini has taken the honours once more, underlining its ability to provide a class leading mix of practicality, comfort and low running costs. Its shockingly affordable £5,995 price tag
is just half the amount of the category it competes in.
Commenting on the decision to give the award
to the Sandero for the fth time, Steve Huntingford, Editor, What Car?, said: “You won’t nd this much space
for so little in any other new car. A recent facelift brought an updated, higher quality interior. The Sandero also
feels better to drive: the handling is tidy enough and the ride is surprisingly comfy for such a cheap car. You can buy a Sandero for less than £6,000, but we recommend spending a little more to get mid-range Ambiance trim. This adds niceties such as air- conditioning, central locking, electric front windows, a DAB radio and Bluetooth. It also replaces the standard black plastic bumpers with body- coloured ones that look a lot smarter. At this price point, only the Ford Ka+ comes close, and although that’s better to drive, the Sandero
is more practical and a fair bit cheaper.”
Commenting on the result, Louise O’Sullivan, Head
of Dacia UK said: “We’re
delighted that the Sandero
has been recognised by the judges at What Car? for a fth consecutive year. The New Sandero offers customers even more value for money with upgrades to the interior and exterior as well as enhanced level of equipment while remaining the most affordable new car in the UK.”
The Dacia Sandero is a ve-door hatchback, available in three trim levels with a choice of two petrol engines and one diesel engine. Pricing starts from £5,995, making it the lowest priced new car on sale in the UK today. The new interior and exterior upgrades for 2017 provide a more elegant and contemporary nish whilst providing the customer additional value and practicality.
The speci c Ambiance version chosen by What
Car? now comes with more features as standard such
as air conditioning and DAB radio – it is the most affordable car on sale in the UK with air conditioning as standard. This is in addition to Bluetooth connectivity, electric windows and remote central locking. The new SCe 75 1.0-litre engine produces the same power as the outgoing 1.2-litre but delivers up to 10 per cent more ef ciency.
The Dacia brand continues to go from strength to strength with 26,499 new Dacia vehicles sold during 2016, it’s best-ever year of sales in the UK.

Updated Golf: more for less from Volksawgen
The updated Volkswagen Golf opens for order in the
UK during February with the option of all-new engines,
more technology, improved connectivity and revised styling for an average of £650 less (RRP OTR) than the outgoing car.
Retaining the former starting price of just £17,625 (RRP OTR) for the entry-level updated Golf S 1.0 TSI 85 PS three-door1 the new Golf is driving even more value, style and desirability into what is aptly named by many the ‘Golf class’.
Emerging from Volkswagen factories around the globe at an average pace of one every 40 seconds for the last 43 years, the brand’s family favourite arrives in UK showrooms towards the end of March but order books are already opening for the eagerly awaited updated version of the most popular European car to date.
With global sales now well
in excess of 33 million since
its launch more than four decades ago (1974), more than two million of which are to UK buyers, the updated version of the seventh generation Golf is once again rede ning its market segment by bringing ‘big car’ technology to the compact family car class.
Democratising quality
and value is a longstanding Volkswagen tenet and it is enthusiastically employed in the updated Golf. Now standard across the range are LED rear lights, for instance, while the majority of models across the Golf hatchback and Estate line- up are also now offered with a new generation of larger and more sophisticated touchscreen infotainment systems.
Indeed, the new Golf sparkles with technical innovations. So, for the rst time in the compact class and depending on model, the new Discover Navigation
Pro radio-navigation and online system can be operated via gesture control. Sporting a 9.2-inch screen, the system complements the Active Info Display that is also new in the Golf and appears as standard on all Performance Golfs. Meanwhile, the range of online services and apps has also been enlarged.
The UK line-up retains a familiar feel, beginning in the hatchback range with S and rising through SE, SE Nav, GT, R-Line, GTE, GTE Advance, e-Golf, GTD and GTD BlueLine to GTI, GTI Performance and, ultimately, R.
The estate family offers generous choice, too, with S, SE, SE Nav, GT and GTD and GTD BlueLine models being joined by Alltrack and R.
The forthcoming car also creates a new benchmark
for assistance systems in the compact class, employing technologies that will signi cantly improve safety. Depending on model, these include: City Emergency Braking with new pedestrian monitoring (Front Assist); a new Traf c
Jam Assist that offers semi- automated driving at speeds
of up to 37 mph (60 km/h);
and Emergency Assist which
is also new to this segment. Emergency Assist notices if
the driver is incapacitated and initiates various measures to rouse them in escalating stages culminating, if the driver remains inactive, in carrying out an emergency stop. • theADIFORUM 27

Cars in the World’ issue, which is on sale now. The BBC TopGear judges were impressed by the model’s ‘fashionable’ looks and ‘calming’ interior that makes it perfect for city life.
New Citroën C3 has been honoured with the ‘Best Urbanite’ award in BBC TopGear Magazine’s ‘Best Cars in the World’ issue.
Commended for its

premieres the world’s rst fully integrated HD dashcam, which is located just

New Citroën C3 is the latest model to bene t
from the Citroën Advanced Comfort® programme. The visibly comfortable seats, the amount of light from the panoramic glass sunroof, the 7-inch touchscreen – which groups together all of the key vehicle functions
– and the keyless entry and start system, all combine to emphasise a feeling of reassurance, comfort and well-being.
As well as offering an extensive and coherent range of personalisation options, and two-tone exterior colour schemes, the Airbump® panels are an instantly recognisable option.
New Citroën C3 is

“The city is where we’re seen. So we want a car that dresses us well, and has some sense of place. This little Citroën is right for town. Chris Cheetham, Citroën UK’s Marketing Director, said: “We’re very proud that New Citroën C3 has been recognised with such a prestigious award. New C3 stands out in a competitive market as a visually striking model that combines comfort and practicality, making it the ideal choice for anyone living or working in the city.” • theADIFORUM 29

Residual values and pricing announced for all-new Honda Civic
Honda UK has announced both residual values and a full pricing list for the 10th generation Civic, which is set to hit dealer forecourts in late March.
Starting from £18,235 on the road for the entry level S grade 129PS VTEC TURBO in manual, the range tops out at £27,480 on the road for the 182PS VTEC TURBO Prestige with a CVT transmission. Metallic paint is an option and adds £525 to the price.
With the arrival of the
new 10th generation Civic
and in line with the current trend towards smaller, more ef cient powertrains, Honda has launched two new petrol engines; a 1.0 litre three cylinder which produces 129PS and a more powerful 1.5 litre four cylinder which delivers
And as well as pricing,
Honda has also released residual values for the new Civic ahead of its UK launch. The hotly anticipated Civic has received a further boost with residual values predicted to be among the best in its class.
Industry experts and residual value setters CAP forecast the British-built 10th generation Civic will hold up to 37% of
its value after 36 months and 60,000 miles.
That’s an impressive increase of 9% on the previous generation Civic and puts the newcomer well ahead of many of its key competitors.
The news comes just weeks after CAP predicted two of Honda’s newest and most popular models – the stylish Jazz city car and acclaimed
HR-V crossover – would outperform all forecasts and achieve market-leading residual value levels.
And it underlines the con dence the automotive industry has in the reliability, value for money and desirability of Honda’s model line-up.
Phil Webb, Head of Cars at Honda UK, said: “As a brand we are making big strides
in improving residual values across our range. This will make our cars even more affordable and lower the total cost of ownership for private and business buyers.
“The launch of the advanced and sporty new Civic is a major milestone for Honda in the
UK and so we are delighted that CAP agree with our own assessment of this fantastic new car.”
