Tersus Training Services are a Health & Safety training
provider, specialising in Asbestos, Petrol Retail and general
Health and Safety.
Operating within the Tersus Group portfolio, we have access
to industry experts within the health and safety training
services sector, which gives us the ability to create
programs that will allow individuals to not only qualify but
excel in their professions.
We use a mix of dedicated training centres – often co-
located with our consultancy and laboratory businesses –
and hired venues, as well as on-site training, to ensure we
can deliver the training when and where you need it.

UKATA CAT A Asbestos
Awareness

Duration
1/2 Day
Aims & Objectives
The Asbestos Awareness course provides delegates with information
and guidance on how to ensure they avoid risks and exposure to
Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM’s).
Course Content
- Introduction & Overview
- Types of Asbestos and their properties
- The effects of Asbestos on workers health
- The uses of ACM’s in buildings and how to recognise them
- Asbestos Regulations
- Asbestos Legislations
- The employers and employees responsibilities
- Emergency Procedures
Target Audience
The Asbestos Awareness course is aimed at trades personnel,
supervisors and trainees who will be exposed to ACM’s in their day to
day role.

UKATA Asbestos Awareness Certificate

UKATA CAT B Working with
Non-licensed Asbestos

Duration
1 Day
Aims & Objectives
The overall aim of this course is to enable delegates to handle and
remove non-licensed asbestos safely, whilst being made aware of the
implications if not done safely. 
Course Content
- Risk Assessment & Plans of Work
- PPE, RPE, Equipment section & Maintenance
- Control measures & removal methods
- The disposal & carriage of asbestos waste
Target Audience
This course is aimed at delegates that will knowingly be disturbing low-
risk ACM’s, for example maintenance workers and supervisors who will
carry out asbestos sampling and analysis.
Pre-course Preperation
An Asbestos Awareness CAT A certificate is required, prior to taking this
course
Certification
Successful delegates will receive a UKATA Asbestos CAT B Certificate

UKATA CAT B Working with Non-
licensed Asbestos (Refresher)

Duration
1/2 Day

Aims & Objectives
The overall aim of this course is to deliver updates on existing
knowledge that delegates have and the tasks that they undertake in
their daily activities. 

Course Content
- Operations and preventative controls
- Control limit/air monitoring
- The non-licensed work with asbestos process
- Record keeping
- Decontamination procedures

Target Audience
This course is designed for delegates that have undertaken their UKATA
Approved working with non-licensed asbestos training within the last 12
months are hoping to renew their training.

Pre-course Preperation
Anyone wishing to undertake this training course must have the relevant
prior knowledge from their previous non-licensed asbestos training to build
upon.

Certification
Successful delegates will receive an up to date UKATA CAT B Certificate

Duty to Manage

Duration
1 Day (Includes Asbestos Awareness)

Aims & Objectives
The objective to this course is to provide the delegate with a basic
understanding of the legislations of CAR 2012, with specific reference to the
Duty holder. The course aims to make the Duty holder aware of the surveys
that are available, what to expect with a survey and the asbestos management
plan and its use and requirement

Course Content
- Introduction – Why manage asbestos?
- Defining Duty to manage
- Legislative requirements
- Types, risks and locations of ACM’s
- The surveys and their use
- The survey report and register
- Dealing and working with ACM’s
- End of course examination 

Target Audience
The Duty to Manage Asbestos course is aimed for those who manage non-
domestic premises: the appointed person that is responsible for protecting
others who work in such premises or use the premises in other ways, because
of risks to ill health that exposure to asbestos causes. 

Certification
Delegates that successfully complete this course will receive a UKATA
Asbestos Awareness CAT A Certificate and a TTS Duty to Manage Certificate.

Asbestos Awareness for
Managers

Duration
1 Day

Aims & Objectives
The overall aim of this course is to provide the principal contractor
and/or the site manager with an understanding of their requirements to
manage asbestos removal contractors, analysts and surveyors. 

Course Content
- Introduction to Asbestos
- Types of Asbestos and their properties
- The health effects of exposure to Asbestos
- Types of ACM’s and uses in buildings
- Emergency procedures
- Duty to Manage in buildings
- Asbestos Surveying
- Asbestos Removal, enclosure and decontamination 

Target Audience
This course is solely aimed at management e.g. principal contractors,
site managers, warehouse managers etc. whom will be in control of the
management of ACM’s.

Certification
UKATA Asbestos Awareness CAT A Certificate

BOHS P402

Duration
3 Day (Including 1 day exam)

Aims & Objectives
The overall aim of this course is to provide the delegates with a solid
understanding and practical knowledge of locating and identifying ACM’s as well
as teaching the delegates how to safely take samples of the materials for
analysis.

Course Content
- Introduction to Asbestos
- Planning Asbestos Surveys
- Undertaking Asbestos Surveys
- Methods of sampling for different types of ACM
- How to produce reports in compliance with HSG 264
- How to incorporate risk assessments and make recommendations to their clients
- Formative Practical Assessment; Written Theory Exam; Written Practical Exam

Target Audience
This course is solely aimed at Asbestos Surveyors.

Pre-course Preperation
Delegates are advised to read the HSG 264 compliant and have a minimum of 6 months
Asbestos surveying experience.

Certification
BOHS Proficiency Certificate in Surveying and Sampling Strategies for Asbestos in
Buildings.

BOHS P405

Duration
4 Days (Including 1 day exam)

Aims & Objectives
The overall aim of this course is to provide the delegates with a solid
understanding and practical knowledge of identifying and managing ACM’s in
buildings as well as providing a basic knowledge of asbestos removal
procedures. 

Course Content
- Asbestos Legislations
- Management of Asbestos in Buildings 
- How to incorporate risk assessments and make recommendations to their clients
- Role of Laboratory/Analysts
- Practical work
- Written Theory Exam; Written Practical Exam

Target Audience
This course is aimed at but not limited to principal contractors, site managers,
warehouse managers, auditors etc. whom will be in control of the management
and removal of the ACM’s.

Pre-course Preperation
Delegates are expected to be aware of the contents of The Control of Asbestos
Regulations 2012.

Certification
BOHS Proficiency Certificate in Management of Asbestos in Buildings.
