National Nutrition Month, an observance that reminds citizens across the HEALTHY STEPS FOR OLDER ADULTS 15
US to remember the importance of wholesome eating and fitness habits.
At the West Philadelphia Senior Community Center we celebrate healthy West Philadelphia
food and improved physical fitness every month! However, given that this Senior Community Center

Anyone who wants to improve their eating habits can find strong support
through WPSCC’s provision of healthy and delicious hot lunches, as well as
our regular sessions in nutrition education and healthy meal preparation.
To enhance fitness, there is an abundance of programs from creative
movement and chair yoga to muscle toning and tai chi. Explore the monthly
calendar in this newsletter to discover all of the valuable, life-enhancing
opportunities that are here for you.
If you’re already committed to a healthier diet and regular exercise,
congratulations! If it’s something you have wanted to do, this could be the
perfect time to start—when people across the nation and your friends here
at WPSCC will all be rooting you on. Here’s to healthy meals and hardy

What does the program offer?
Advance Meal Reservation
The In-Home Support Program (IHSP) provides support

HEPATITIS C TESTING EVENT

March 2 • 11:00 am–2:30 pm

The Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC) has recommended that
every baby boomer get tested once for
Hepatitis C in order to reduce the chance for
serious liver problems such as cirrhosis, cancer,
and liver failuer. The longer people are infected,
the more likely they are to develop problems.
The good news is that Hepatitis C is curable!
So come on out and get tested!

ADVANCE CARE PLANNING

Vanessa I. Saylor, Social Worker will facilitate a
workshop about Advanced Care Planning. The
purpose of this workshop is to raise awareness and
provide information about the topic. Vanessa will
present tools that assist in helping individuals and
families consider end of life matters, make some
advance decisions about their wishes at end of life,
and share those wishers with those closest to them.
Please plan to participate in this very worthwhile
workshop.
